SDM: A great place of learning.

I sat in COMED-K and got a rank of 11K. I was looking for Electronic and communication branch and found that SDMCET was the best college for ECE in the north Karnataka. So just went for it and luckily i got a seat in second round.

1st 2 semesters was common for all and was good. Looked like it was revision of previous learning plus some new subjects. All the rest 6 semester are well balance with semester 3 and 4 being the most difficult one. Labs are well equipped and provide a great place to learn practically.

As far as i know this college doesn't provide internship. Yes if you prefer to go for any internship then just let them know and they will arrange for all the help that is required.

I can blindly say that if you have an aggregate to 60% through out 10,12 and engg. then your placement is almost confirmed. This college provide great placement opportunities. During our time i.e 2011 around 54 companies had came to hire. Out of 540 eligible candidates around all were place with few having more than 5 offers in hand.

The college is eventful. Almost 2-3 events every months. they had also invited Kumar Ghanjewale and Sunidhi chouhan for the Yealy event. They participate regularly in all the athletics events.

A great Campus Life. Good Gender Ratio . They have extracurricular activities . Good labs. Indoor playground for table tennis, badminton and outdoor basketball court, cricket ground etc will help in keeping the mind refreshing There is a huge well equipped laboratory for ea ch course Library is one of the best in north Karnataka More than that there is digital library and 24*7 browsing center to aid learning

Now i am not aware of the few structure bt during 2007-2011 it was 1.25 Lakhs per year with additional hostel fees of 18 thousand. Hostel is great value for money. Blindly go for hostel. College fees need to be paid either half yearly or once it was your choice. I felt the fee was little high for students coming through comedk. the students coming through CET had fees of just 18-20 thousand and no fees for SC/ST.

I had received a rank of 11,215 in Comed-k. I knew the rank was not great. So started to to look for top 20 colleges in Karnataka and found that a person with 11K rank can get into colleges like BVB hubli, SDMCET etc. I went for First round of counselling with 50K draft in hand as is must to attend the counselling. I went with just one intend that i need to get a seat in any top 15 Colleges but unluckily could not get in any top 15 colleges so just grepped a seat in CSE in Global college I again went for second round and it was this time i got an opportunity to get into either BVB hubli or SDMCET. I selected SDMCET and was highly rated for ECE . So i went to dharwad around 430 KM from Bangalore to visit the college and believe me it has a great Campus. Nice build college ,3 Hostels and a big ground to play.

The Faculty are overall good. With the best faculties in E&E. There were few Faculties in ECE who were really great e.g Viraktimath and Nawalgun and rest being just good. Overall good learning but cannot say best. It is you who have to work hard. Last 2 semester you will get enough time to work on any project of your choice. Making a project is very easy there as you will find all the required thing for project nearby itself.
