Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I choose this course because I am very passionate about computers and yeah. It's in the trend as well, so it's a win-win for me. Talking about the student ratio, the students in CSE are a lot, there were around 8,000-10,000 students in the first year of CSE which is a lot. Talking about the faculties, they are well educated and well qualified but due to the pressure of handling a lot of students in CSE, sometimes the quality of teaching suffers. There are two types of exams:- MST and EST. MST are mid-semester exams and EST are end-semester exams and if you prepared well then there is no difficulty in passing these examinations.

Placement Experience

3.5

As I am a student in my first year, so I really do not know in depth about the placements at our university. But there are good placement figures shown by the university and I asked some seniors as well, and they told me that there are good placement figures fetched by the bachelors. The highest package was around 53 LPA and the average package is around 6-7 LPA. There are a lot of companies which offer placement here like wipro, Amazon, Google, LinkedIn, Luminous etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee for CSE is 212, 000/- as of now for a year and yes!!! there are many scholarship opportunities which you can get after giving CUCET examination or if you are from a defence background then you'll get a 10% of scholarship for the whole degree. There are campus jobs but are not for the students of Chandigarh University. The criteria for the scholarship is that if you get a 7.5 CGPA in a year, then the scholarship will be continued, otherwise, it will get discontinued. But if you would be able to maintain your 7.5 CGPA again then it would get continued again.

Campus Life

3.5

The campus life at CU is pretty good, you'll get to see a lot of programs and fests. The fresher's party or fest occurs mostly in November and the main cultural CU fest is held in March-April and is for 2-3 days. Talking about the availability of books and journals in the library shows the libraries are fully packed with all types of books in journals and you can get any type of book which ever you want. Classrooms in Chandigarh universities are okay, although they have proper lighting and fans the fee to the facilities getting ratio is so low we are giving them 1,06,000 for one semester and according to that the classrooms are not up to the mark. For sports and extracurricular activities there is a sports stadium at the university There are many groups, clubs and websites which are run by students of Chandigarh University like the Music club, and dance club and there are many more things you will explore.

Admission

The admission process is very simple you just have to register for the cucet examination, there you have to just pass the examination and if you do well in that exam you do get scholarships according to the marks you have in the examination. It is very easy to find the application form and all of the details because it's all in the academic block, there you have counsellors who are there to help you out with everything in your admission process and the process was smooth and the staff was also professional and good

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
