Likes
- The students play a great role in the decision making process of the university and are regularly asked for their reviews.
- The campus life at CU is amazing, there are students from all over the world and we get to learn new things everyday.
- Our course is well planned and covers most of the knowledge for our domain.
Dislikes
- The process to rectify attendance if you are falsely marked is very complex.
- It is located in the outskirts of Kharar which is 8 km from the city.
- Some of the faculty is inexperienced and don't know how to teach or even manage the class so the course could be completed on time.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I wanted to learn some real word skills like web development, machine learning, etc. The faculty-student ratio is somewhere around 1:35. Most of the faculty is experienced and have Ph.D. degrees but some are Ph.D. scholars and are teaching as assistant professors. The end-term exams are always on time and can be passed easily with sincere studies.
Internships Opportunities
There are decent internship opportunities available with several startups and companies like Intel etc. where the average stipend range from 5-6k. According to our area of expertise for example machine learning, web development, android development etc. we get to work on different projects under supervision from industry experts.
Placement Experience
The campus placements are above average. Students become eligible for campus placements in the 6th semester. Deloitte, Intel, Amazon, Google, Scalar, Infosys, TCS, Tech Mahindra, etc. companies visit the campus for placements. 650+ companies visited the campus in the recent placement drive and made 9000+ offers. The highest package was for 54 LPA while the average package was around 7 LPA. Around 80-90 percent of students got placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
Once you are enrolled in a course your fees will not be hiked for the whole duration. The cost of the study is quite affordable. There are several scholarship schemes but the best is to get a scholarship through the CUCET exam conducted by the university. Students can also apply for loans from the university. Regarding campus jobs, to my knowledge, I don't think there is such a thing.
Campus Life
The campus life at CU is amazing. The annual fest is called CU-fest and it is conducted in April while there are several tech fests throughout the year. Top Bollywood celebrities regularly visit the campus. There is a library in each block and a huge central library is under construction. Books and journals are always available and can be borrowed using a library card.
Admission
The eligibility criteria for this course is to have at least 60% in your 12th board exam but it is quite flexible. You can directly take the admission without giving any entrance exam although the college provides an opportunity for students to avail scholarships for students by conducting an exam called CUCET. The admission process is quite simple and easy for both online and offline processing but we need to submit a fixed amount to reserve a seat for the course which I believe is unnecessary.
