Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I have a lot of interest in CSE and also the college provides a lot of opportunities for CSE students be it the facilities, placements, etc. The faculty-to-student ratio is about 1:18. The faculties are not very much qualified yet they are knowledgeable and talented. They put a lot of effort to give high-quality education.

Internships Opportunities

4

Internship opportunity starts coming in the mid of 6th semester from companies like Fourkites, Nokia, LG, Scalar, Wipro, CyberNext, etc. Students can also take internships off campus and they are provided with NOC. The project and research paper are given focus.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placements are the most awaited and best part for any CSE student. At CU, you will start getting company visits for internship and placement from the mid of the 6th semester. About 30-40 companies will visit before the end of the 6th semester. When the 7th semester will start, you will be overwhelmed with the company visits. Average placement is around 7 LPA to 8 LPA. The highest package always goes above 45-50 LPA. Almost 75 % of students get placed. Companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, MyKarma, AutoDesk, Nutanix, Nokia, LG, Cognizant, TCS, etc come for profiles like SDE, Analyst, Test Engineer, etc

Fees and Financial Aid

The college is paid semester-wise. The semester fee for my batch was Rs 80000, but now it has increased to about Rs 110000 per semester for the 2023 batch. Apart from this, you will have to pay Rs 2000 exam fee every semester. Scholarships are provided on various grounds. CUCET is the scholarship exam through which I got a 100% scholarship. Also, it is provided for scoring good marks in Jee Main and class 12th.

Campus Life

4

Fests are very frequent and the most exciting thing in Chandigarh University. The annual fest is named CU Fest which is organized in the month of March every year. Many DJ Nites are organized after some intervals. The induction for freshers is not less than a fest. It goes for about 4-5 days. A Fresher party named Aaghaz is also held. The sports facility is very much emphasized and various students have also represented CU and India on the world level.

Hostel Facilities

4

There are four girls' hostels (Sukhna, Tagore, LC, and Shivalik) and all are 4 seaters. The hostel fee at my time was 90000 per year but now it has increased to Rs 105000 per year. The facilities are very basic. Bed, Almirah, Table, Chair, and Cooler are provided. A packed balcony is also there. Mess food is hygienic but not tasty. You can apply for a hostel after taking admitted to CUIMS.

Admission

For being eligible for CSE, you need to have at least 60% marks in class 12th. You can apply from the CU website and you will be contacted by the admission cell in 24 hours. The admission starts from the month of May and goes on till November. No reservation benefit is provided because it is a private college.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
