Course Curriculum Overview

2

I choose Computer Science because thats the obvious choice of almost all enginering aspirants plus CSE offers most empolyability. In Chandigarh University, the faculty student ratio is around 1:55. However the faculty are mostly underqualified. In college offers very latest syllabus with subjects like Machine Learning, AI, cloud computing, IoT etc but the faculty itself are as noob as the students.

Internships Opportunities

2.5

Internships are majorly provided during the placements as the companies visiting campus for hiring first offer an internship post for either 6 months or a year and then give you the PPO. The average stipend during an internship is around 25,000 per month. However, students are free to do any 2-month internship on their own during semester breaks.

Placement Experience

3

You will be eligible for college placements right from the 6th semester. A lot of companies visit campus every year. Last year the total number of companies visited was about 750. Good companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Bosh, Deloitte, Nokia, Autodesk, Bank of America, Qualcomm, and HP visit the campus. The highest package every year goes to around 35 LPA and the average package is around 5.5 - 6 LPA. The percentage of students placed is around 82% to 87%. However, do remember that there is a very tough competition in campus placements as the number of students is very high.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees increase every year for the freshers. Although the hike percentage is not that high the administration does not spare any student if he/she fails to pay the fee before the deadline. Although there are concessions for students having education loan cases. One good thing is that college offers a lot of scholarships if you have good scores in 12th and JEE mains and advanced. 50% in some of the cases.

Campus Life

2.5

The annual fest is called the CU Fest and it's a 2-day event and has a lot of events and competitions. TEKATHON is the tech fest of CU and is conducted usually from September to October. You will find a lot of journals and course-related books in the library. The University has a lot of libraries spanning across the campus. Classrooms are quite basic but well ventilated and almost all classrooms are equipped with a projector. Computer labs are great as they have ACs and the PCs are also high end i.e. min 8 GB RAM and i7 processors. The college has a lot of clubs like literary clubs, dance clubs, music clubs, etc. but hardly anything happens in it. Instead, I would recommend you to join the CSE dept clubs like Google Scholar club, IEEE, CSI, Alexa developer community etc. as they organise more events.

Admission

I took admission during covid lockdown so the admission process was quite simple. They were taking admission mainly on the basis of the 12th percentage. Although they did take an entrance test named CUCAT (Chandigarh University Common Admission Test) it was very easy and the question level was pre-mains.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
