Course Curriculum Overview

1.5

My course is B.E. CSE with a specialization in Computer Science and Business Systems, which is associated with TCS. The course Curriculum is quite good and well-structured but the faculty members are very much underqualified. Most of the faculties ( I mean 9 faculties out of 10 ) know nothing about the subject they are teaching. Even the teachers accept that they are given the subjects to teach randomly without considering their qualifications. As a result of which, very poor quality of teaching is given to the students. specially to the 3rd and 4rth year students . You might get a few average teachers in the 1st year, but from 2nd year onwards your tuition fees (i.e. the fees you are paying for the faculty to teach ) are purely wasted.

Fees and Financial Aid

About scholarships It is not that tough to get a good scholarship here and maintain it in the last year. Comparatively in my opinion fees is also not that huge, compared to the other colleges like LPU Thapar, etc. which provides similar kind of facilities. Campus placement is going very low these days, I think it's because of the recession. If you considering this college for jobs only then you should think twice.

Campus Life

4

The infrastructure of the college is quite good. Very creatively designed buildings are here, but along with that, it's very overcrowded. You did not get the place to sit, rest, and have a snack in recess. You can't chill for a second. Even classes are over-packed and scheduled back to back. If you have any class in the classroom you have to wait for the other class to empty out the room which is already going on in that room and vice versa. The only thing you won't regret here is your social life. As it's a very overcrowded college, you won't feel alone even if you want to. There are various social groups in the college. Many clubs are there as well. many libraries are there but as I said multiple times, all the libraries the overpacked all the time. You can participate in many extracurricular activities here. for exam NSS camps, NCC, inter-department sports events, fests, and many more.

Admission

There is no cutoff criteria for the exam and there is no limit of seats. You can take admissions anytime, seats never get filled here. The scholarship is given on the basis of board marks ( if above 90 %) and the entrance exam of CU ( called cucet ). You can get a 25 to 40 % scholarship based on your CUCET exam. This scholarship is subjected to many terms and conditions. For example, you have to maintain an overall CGPA of 7.5 and above. You should not get back into any subject and many more. If any of the conditions are not satisfied by the student, the Scholarship is discarded from the upcoming year.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
