Course Curriculum Overview

4

It was my dream to get admission in government medical college as I wanted to become a successful doctor. All faculty member are postgraduates and most of them have teaching experience of 10-15 yrs. Mode of teaching is through smart class, interactive classes are taken , assignments are given. Exams are conducted according to the schedule made by NMC. Internals are conducted thrice a year and at the end of the year University exams are taken !

Internships Opportunities

3.5

The internship starts from the 5th year in the college itself for one year. A stipend of 12,500 / month is given to interns. As it's a government college so patient load is quite high which is helpful in gaining experience in this medical profession. From experience comes perfection.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yearly 10,000 - 25,000 is taken as fees of course. The central library is present in the college from which we can borrow books to study and it's open till 10 pm so we can study till 10 pm there only, Library is equipped with ACs and almost all the books required for our course. The stipend is given to interns in their 5th year of mbbs ( 12,500 per month ).

Campus Life

4

We are mostly busy with our practicals and assignments. But besides this sports week is organized in our college in the month of October - November. A cultural fest is organized once a year. NMO camps are organized in the Jammu region in which we provide medical facilities in peripheries. All books required for mbbs and MD are available in the library.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel fees are minimal as compared to other paying guest options available in the Jammu region. Hostel food is also good. A cupboard table chairs and beds are available in the room itself. Room is available in sharing ( 2 persons/room) we can install our own cooler / AC if we want to.

Admission

You have to qualify for the NEET exam in order to get admission to this college. You must be 17 years old in order to take this exam and pass your 12th class. Application forms are available 4-5 months before the exam, generally exam is conducted in the month of May and admission occurs by the month of August. The cut-off for my college is around 560 and I scored 578 marks.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I Chose MBBS by my choice The more the practical and clinicals u perform the better u understand things rather than books . Real life experience is important I think what should be improved is that focus should be more on things that are more important for being a doctor. More towards clinical aspects more towards practical performance and less on things needed to cram Timing for exam of 80 mark is 3 hrs and is quite good enough time. 20 marks are of mcqs so total 100 mark.
