Course Curriculum Overview

4

I loved everything mechanical and hence mechanical engineering. The course, is a typical engineering course with more focus on theory than practical aspects. The Faculty is excellent. They are supportive and takes the fall for you in some situations. Comparing it to other departments, the Mechanical Engineering department has the most student friendly faculty. Academically, they are all qualified and has deep knowledge in their domains. Keep up good realations with them and they'll help you through you out through their connections. One has to be inquisitive and a little bit pushy to get the most out of them. They will also recommend extra curricular activities that suit your aptitude.

Placement Experience

3

Third year onwards you will start placements. Most students get placed in IT jobs. Core jobs are rare and pay measly salary. Placement details should be available on the website. Definitely not a 100 percentage placement. From what I have seen, most of my batchmates are going for further education since the placements are not very lucrative. Those placed in core companies are hanging on. This could be due to the bonds they have to sign. I am switching my field since mechanical Engineering, as much as I love it, cannot sustain the dreams that I have for my future.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees were hiked once or twice. It was negligible and came into effect after COVID lockdowns. They follow the government fees structure. Will not be a burden on anyone. They also have concessions for those who need it. Government scholarships are available for those who look for it. Internships for my batch was not that great due to COVID and such. But for those who worked for it, opportunities were available.

Campus Life

4

Campus life is Great. Each year is divided into odd and even semesters. But for the students, it is tech fest season and arts fest season. Student involvement is high. It is almost completely organised by the students. They are great opportunities to socialise and expand your horizons. Get involved and you'll learn about managing events, people and money. Excellent opportunities for the willing. Classrooms are almost excellent par a few old ones. Even they are spacious and have working electricals. Sports are a prominent part of the college life. Cannot call them organised clubs by any means. They exist. prominently. Thats all. There are a lot of clubs. I discovered a few new ones even in my final year at the college. Academic clubs like SAE, ASME and IEEE are the most active. There are also a few niche clubs like shooting club, astronomy club and even an anime club (unofficial). Check out the different MACE instagram channels to get an idea of the events going on.

Admission

Needed a KEAM rank below 5000. Got around 4500 and got admission in merit seat by the third allotment. The admission process was smooth. But if I have to nitpick, they were not interested in helping you with the process. You wouldn't feel welcome. I am comparing the process to another private college I had to take admission in after the second allotment. They were keen on making me join there and went out of their way to smoothen the process. Nowadays, for Mechanical seat, you don't need 5000 rank. The last rank is coming down to between 10,000 and 20,000 nowadays after spot admission. This is a general trend and not a problem with the college. Computer science still demands high rankers in KEAM.

Placement Experience:

Upon reaching s7 students are invited for campus placement but they have to pass different criteria to become eligible for attending the interview, a minimum cgpa of 7.5 and academic skills a these are the basic requirements and an aptitude test will be given and in further selection these criteria are looked. I plan on pursuing a job after completing by btech. More than half the students in a batch are getting placed usually.

From the 6th semester students become eligible for campus placements. So many companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Gst Global, etc. are visited for placements. These companies provide placement for all the branches of the college. 90 percent of the students get placements. I prefer to go for higher studies after getting the degree.
