What Students Say

Likes

PK Kelkar library is a major attraction at IITK. It has wide variety of books.
The campus is very green and clean. It is very well maintained.
It has a very big open air theatre which can accommodate 2000 people simultaneously.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum of IITK is very hectic. We have to complete 7 courses having 9 credits each, one seminar course having 9 credits and other credits are acquired by thesis work. In this way we complete thesis work. The exams are mid semester exams and end semester exams. Along with quizzes, assignments and homeworks. Faculties are very good and know alot about their subjects. The college has very good research environment.

Class Size: 67Course Fees: INR 53370 per year

Placement Experience

4.5

Placements of IITK are very good. Even during recession the average package was 15lpa. Highest package was 60lpa and lowest was 12lpa. If someone is not getting placed then professors help in their own domain. After degree, I am planning to work in a product based company after degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

We get 12400 of monthly stipend for teaching assistantship provided by the institute. In this teaching assistantship we have to solve doubts of junior students once a week for 3 hours and help them pass their coding labs. The fees overall is very very less which makes the course highly affordable as due to stipend it becomes almost free.

Campus Life

IITK has 3 major fests- Antaragini- The cultural fest, Udhgosh- Sports Fest, Techkriti- Asia's largest technical fest. Antaragini is typically held in October, Udhgosh is typically held in October or November, techkriti is held in March. Many sports and extracurricular activities are offered like pool, wall climbing, chess, carrom, football and cricket grounds, squash and badminton halls etc. The PK Kelkar library in IITK is one of the largest libraries in India and has a wide range of books which are easily accessible through a software

Hostel Facilities

Hostel facility is top notch. We have a mirror, almirah, table, chair, bed etc provided in the rooms. Mess is available in each hostel and menu is appropriate for students of every region. Normal roti sabji dal chawal is available everyday.

Hostel Fee: INR 5000 per year

Admission

I wrote the competitive exam GATE in CS department. Cutoff was 32 marks, i got 64.33 marks. My GATE score was 720. Admission procedure was smooth because of the institute counseling service available at IITK. Application form and other relevant details are mentioned on the website of IITK.

A Glimpse of Life in Aligarh Muslim University

Likes

The classrooms are too spacious and hygenic , so no need of improvement in this and the greenary in the campus is also commendable, so minimum chance of pollution.
Campus life is good as we have deep interaction with our seniors and faculties , and the quality of social life is also worth noting.
All the facilities are good in their field of expertise but some improvement needed in their teaching method and the way how they mentor /counsel the students.

Dislikes

First thing i disliked is the people wasting their time sitting in the library canteen for hours without having any productive conversations
Some facilities are just not up to date with the subject they are teaching, so their knowledge needs to be enhanced a lot
The typical traditional methodology of writing lab manual is also tiresome, though practical is good but lot of time wasted in writing files and assignments.

Placement Experience:

Basically, if we're talking about M.tech. students are eligible for campus placement in second year of the course. Many companies have visited so far in the past like L&T , VIT( for Assistant professor) , EIL (for top rank holders) , etc with good CTC packages. My plan is to join any renowned PSU, if selected after completion of this course, as im preparing for it.

Very Good Placements with Poor Infrastructure.

Likes

Placement activities is good. Average package is good
Faculties are kind of supportive and helpful. But only in studies
Mess food is decent. Not the best, but acceptable

Dislikes

Infrastructure is bad. Wifi doesn't work at all.
Cleanliness is also very bad. They washrooms are nor clean
Hostel facilitie is very worst. There is no on campus hostel for first yeat students.

Placement Experience:

The placements in this college are the only attractive part. Companies such as Nvidia, Intel, AMD visit the college for internships every year. The college has placements through internships. Direct PPO are also given.

IIITA Review by a masters student

Likes

I liked the dedication of faculty to make students learn.
Size and Greenery of the campus neither too big not too small just perfect no need for bycycle you can commute by walking only
Safety of the campus is top class, security of the students is atmost priority of the campus

Dislikes

75 percentage attendance criteria is the worst
TA sign daily is compulsory which I don't like just why we are doing TA duty that should be sufficient.
Sports facilities are not that good,we have all the courts and ground but lack of equipment.

Placement Experience:

Mtech is eligible for internship from first sem itself, full time jobs are allowed from 3rd semester onwards for masters students. Almost all Big MNCs visit campus Almost 100 percent students get placed My plans are to get a job.

Honest reviews by a mechanical engineering student.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for attending campus placements from the 7th semester or the start of last year. For some streams like Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, MBA, BPharma placement records are quite good, especially for CSE. But students of other streams like Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering etc struggle to get jobs even after their course completion. In my memory, more than 10 companies came for Computer Science Engineering and Electronics Engineering. The highest package offered was 12 lakh per annum by Jaro Education Group. More than 60% of students of CSE branch and approximately 30% students of EC branch got placed of 2020 pass out batch. Since I didn't get placed through campus placements I transitioned my career field towards Data Analytics and I'm currently pursuing it

AINT Campus Life

Admission:

My admission in Amity Institute of Nano Technology was initiated by filling out an Admission form for M.Tech in Nano Technology after completing my B.Tech degree. I regularly checked the status of my form on the site provided by the university, wherein my form was processed within 3-4 business days. I was invited for a Group Discussion round after which admission letter was provided to me which held all the details regarding submission of fees and date of commencement of the semester.

IITK From Sparsh's Perspective

I choose this college becouse of its flexible acdemic structure and its great Alum connections. Also this is the best college i am getting according to my rank and my interest in mathematics. I have Applied for IIT delhi in electronics. IIT Delhi is also a great college but when it comes to academic focus IIT delhi lacks there. Also there faculty administratation is so strict. if a student wants to start something or he/she has a new iniative for the college , he/she will face hard time. So I couldn't make it to IIT Roper CSE branch because my jee adance rank is not that great for the Roper' Computer science. So the Admission process here at IITK is not difficult. You just the originaly document which you have submitted in your josa counselling portal and you need to verify it once here usually a couple opf hours work. The cut-off for IITK varies-from branch to branch. For example the CSE of IITk open from Jee advanced general rank of 115 to 250....Read More

Life @ IITK

I chose IIT Kanpur over othe rcooleges because of its academic reputation, research opportunities and strong alumini network. I was also able to get seats in other IITs but I preferred IIT Kanpur due to its legacy . I didn't face rejections, but did not opt for some colleges even after qualifying due to lower research output, weaker placement stats. Admission process for B.Tech at IITK is through JEE Advanced exam, after qualifying JEE Mains. You also neend to satisfy cutoff for branches. Admissions are handled by JoSAA Counselling....Read More
