Course Curriculum Overview

3

The syllabus of B. Com hons. is updated to reach the industry standards. The subjects like tax management, adv. excel, financial markets, etc. provide the students with a brief of the fields that the degree is supposed to be associated with. Nothing in this course is taught in whole detail, rather everything is taught to give a gist. The exams are conducted every six months per semester. The internal exams are conducted by the college, and external by the university. The syllabus is quite comprehensive with all concerned areas covered.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Many companies like planetspark, sharekhan, etc. offer internships to students of 2nd year. Some are unpaid but majorly are paid with stipend of upto ?20,000 also. Median is somewhat around 4-5 thousand. The roles are primarily marketing, with some being of finance also. Some companies also offer live project opportunities. The placement cell of maims is actively working to ensure that every students get quality opportunities as per their interest.

Placement Experience

2.5

After 4th semester, the students become eligible to sit for placements. Many companies visit the campus each year to offer placements and internships. The avg package is around 3 lakhs, and the highest around 8 lpa. The profiles offered are usually of business development, sales and marketing. Finance roles are not much. I guess all the students who sit for placement gets placed. My plans after graduation is to appear for another competitive exams for my post grad.

Fees and Financial Aid

My college tuition fee is somewhat around 98,000 and at the time of admission, a certain amount (~40,000) was deposited with the university. Scholarships are available for the students, some of which are need based and some are merit based. I have never came across any campus employment opportunities until now but I'm sure if someone's willing, they'll get something to do.

Campus Life

3.5

The campus life here at MAIMS is quite enriching. There are multiple fests held each year by the different societies of the college. Like the illuminate society's this year fest. Prominent speakers like Mr. Aman Dhattarwal and comic Yash Rathi, were invited. Also, the law society is holding Raftaar's concert this year. The fests are usually held during the feb-april time. The Infrastructure is quite good, campus is big and lush green. Our campus also has an incubation centre. The libraries are also stacked with a variety of books to refer from.

Admission

The admission process of IPU is quite simple. There is an application form available on the official website of IPU during the admissions. The fee is somewhat around ?1000. After that the admit card is released regarding the details of the admission test. It includes a mcq test which contains questions related to quants, english, aptitude, easy questions of maths till 12th standard and general. The timings of the exam are noon. As far as the difficulty level is concerned, it is moderate. A preparation of 4-5 days, and you are good to go. The one thing I don't like about the admission process is that the counselling rounds take too much of time. I remember getting admission in the spot round and the classes had already started.

The course provides a comprehensive image of finance and management, though after NEP, the curriculum seems a little irrelevent. The exams are conducted twice in a year, 2 sems per year, they conduct mid sem exams as well.
