Likes
- Hostel Services are really good. Zakir hostels have spacious rooms and very short and low power cuts. Food Courts available in the hostels are really delicious and everything is available right away.
- The campus is 5G ready and network connectivity is really well.
- Classes of D-Block are really modern and well built
Dislikes
- Mess food is eatable yet I disliked it. The menu is repeated every 14 days.
- Internet services are really poor, the wifi doesn't work most of the times, this might be an issue of the router but my experience was poor.
- Management is extremely bad, even for small issues they make you run from block to block in opposite ends. The attendance policy is very strict.
Course Curriculum Overview
I am practicing Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning which is a fairly young branch. The course is relevant to the industry standards, but the study material provided isn't enough, Each student is expected to study on their own.
Internships Opportunities
During summer holidays we are shared with links to join internships and trainings, generally students opt for online training, but for specialization students training is offline only. Mohali region has a wide variety of interships available for the students.
Placement Experience
Placements of CU could be defined as decent. Generally mass recruitment happens here which offer 4-5 LPA, but students who manage to mantain a good CGPA and study well and thoroughly about the course plan can easily achieve over 10 LPA, students who opt for off-campus placement can no longer be seated into on-campus placements.
Fees and Financial Aid
CU provides scholarship very regularly and offer multiple modes for it, like 12% based and CUCET in house examination based. A student scoring above 90% in 12 Boards can receive 50% scholarship, scoring above 80% can receive 20% scholarship.
Campus Life
Campus Life is definitely my favourite part about the university. It's a very lively place to be. The campus is culturally diverse with International and National students from through the country. My life was never better, I enjoy company of my friends after classes. Our college organises multiple sports, academic, cultural events and I love to attend them. Newly established Library in the block D-6 is literally unexpectedly world class. 9xTashan Nights, CU fest, and various other events are held almost every month.
Hostel Facilities
There are mainly multiple hostels available for the students. Boys hostels are Named as- Zakir Towers, Nek Chand Towers, Govind Hostel and Girls Hostels are Tagore Hostel, LC Hostel, Sukhna Hostel and Shivalik hostel. The food offered is kind of eatable for my taste but quality is better than the mess of rest of the colleges. The menu has a wide variety with foor shuffling every 14 days but major dishes remains same. Non-Veg is offered on Monday and Friday, sweet dishes are also served.
Admission
I personally was admitted by the means of boards results, One can take admissions via multiple modes like board results, JEE results or by clearing CUCET exam. For my course minimum score for 12th must be 75% and above. To mantain scholarship one should mantain 7.5 CGPA throughout the degree program.
Faculty
My faculty members are really knowledgeable and they are expressive. They take doubts religiously. But the main issue is of attendance, 75% attendance is crucial to attend the exams in which teachers might not be helpful even for genuine reasons, so forget proxies.
