Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum and everything is good. I think if teaching method includes more practical ones it would be good otherwise the curriculum is good and the wieghtage of studying in every semester is balanced.

Internships Opportunities

1.5

There is internship in the second year. We havent got much information. The tie ups are with mostly ngo and hospitals. Its mainly near kolkata. Around one month internship is given. Stay and all should be arranged by ourselves.

Fees and Financial Aid

The semester wise fee is 32000 and the whole 3 years course is around 192000. The hostel for 3 years is 255000. There are scholarships you can apply. For that you have to maintain a 60% mark in every exams

Campus Life

2.5

So there are only very few college programmes held like freshers, college fest and all others are the cultural programmes of the west bengal. The accessibility of books are very poor for our department. The classrooms of our building is too bad conditions. No camers in any of the classess. Sports are very encouraged here which is one of the good point of here. There are many clubs also.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

One room 2 people share it. There are 2 beds 2 tables 2 chair Almarah 2 fan 2 light evrything mirror also but the condition of these are very poor. Toilets are very poorly maintained Mess area is very untidy even though the clean it Food is average and sometimes its below average.

Admission

Overall it was a smooth process. But there were many areas were they gave me misinformations like the course has been updated to 4 years but they gave me a bonafide of 3 years and i came to know it after my loan was passed. They also told me there would be 24 x 7 wifi serivice were they didnt mention that it was only for laptops. So these are some of the misinformation they gave me.

Faculty

3

According to my department teachers are friendly amd they teach us well but most of the times the faculties leave the college after few months. In my 1 year itself around 4 teachers changed. And also there were only 4 teachers sometimes and we often have to cancel classes because unavailablity of teacher. Even oru practical classes were cancelled and one month before practical we had to rush and study and prepare the whole syllabus with in between the internal exams.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
