Remarks

Strict rules to be followed. No non-veg allowed inside the campus and hostel mess including egg items.

Entrance Preview

Referred by a senior. University allot the seats according to the merit but not on reservation criteria. Greater placement Percentage. This made me choose the University. Other reason is this University has equal reputation to that of some IIT'S & NIT'S.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Sastra University prepared the course curriculum in such a way that it covers 95% of GATE syllabus in second and third year, so that the student can appear for the exam in third year itself. The course curriculum has two types of electives - Department Electives and Open Electives.

Internships Opportunities

I don't know much about the internships provided by the college. Most of the students try the internships off-campus only. But there is an opportunity to do PH.D in our University and the University provides minimum stipend. (Can be searched in our University website- www.sastra.edu)

College Events

3.5

There are three major events take place in University every academic year- Colloseum, DAKSH, KURUKSASTRA. These events take place in even semester time in and around February and March. Colloseum is for inter and intra sports and games. DAKSH is like a technical fest. Kuruksastra is an entertainment fest.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is feasible only. Per semester-65000/- Increases for 5% after 2 nd semester Hostel fee is around 15000/- only for room Mess fee has to be every month based on the total expenses. Mess fee is same for every hosteller. Other fees such as Development fee costs 10000/- has to be paid one time during the admission.

Fees and Financial Aid

One type of Scholarship is given according to the merit. This scholarship amount is deducted from the fees paid.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life at sastra can be defined as the most memorable one if used properly.one can find people not only from South India but also from other states from India like Assam, meghalaya(north east) and maharastra(north)etc.though divided by languages and cultures the students at sastra face zero biasing based on caste, religion, gender, region and are provided with equal opportunities to progress.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel accommodation can be rated as an above average one when compared with other hostels. The first years are not given the facility to choose hostels as the management believes to improve coordination and socialisability among the students by making them coexist in the same rooms randomly provided.

Alumni/Alumna

No ragging here in campus. Can be mingled with the seniors by participating in the students clubs and some academic events.

Exam Structure

Students should take 3 mid semester examinations each held for 50 marks which are then reduced to an equivalent to a maximum of 20. The best marks are taken from 2 mid exams out of 3 and are added which is further added to an internal of maximum 10 (to be awarded by the professor based on students' behaviour in the class, projects, etc). All these added up give 50 at maximum. The end semester exam is held for 100 marks and marks obtained are then reduced to an equivalent for 50 and are added to the previously obtained marks. The grading is given based on marks obtained as described in SASTRA website.

Admission

The seat allocation process is based in merit only. Stream-1:Intermediate marks (× 25%) + JEE MAINS score (× 75%) Stream-2:Only Intermediate marks 80% seats are for Stream-1 and remaining 20% seats for Stream-2. Students are called counseling based on ranks in the calculation of marks.

Faculty

4.5

Every faculty member here in this University is minimum a Doctorate holder and has a minimum of 5 years teaching experience. 80% of the faculty has done PH.D in their respective fields. Students can contact them in their staff rooms during college working hours. Can mail them for any queries during non working hours.

Placement Experience:

Students can join job drives from the 7th term. Many firms visit the campus for jobs and offer roles in tech and other fields. The pay varies by firm and role. EEC has a good job rate and gives help for job prep. After my degree, I plan to work in the tech field and grow my skills.

Placement Experience:

Students are open to campus placements from 2nd year onwards. There are many companies who visit such as Delloite, Accenture, Cognizant, TCS, Amazon, NatWest, Nokia, etc. Highest package offered is 42 lpa and lowest is maybe 2-4lpa. Around 90% of students get placed here. My plans is to get a job through campus recruitment. Currently I got an internship through campus recruitment in Cognizant so the recruitment is quite nice here.
