Campus Life @ Central University of Karnataka

Likes

The campus was too good in its environment.
The exposure was too good with good library facilities.
We can socialise with Pan Indian exposure

Dislikes

Hostel facilities was not well maintained
Hostel food was not that much good sometimes
College was situated in a rural place, it was so hard to travel.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The BA English curriculum at the Central University of Karnataka is comprehensive and academically relevant. The course covers British Literature, American Literature, Indian Writing in English, Literary Theory, Linguistics, and Cultural Studies, providing students with a strong foundation in language and literature. The interdisciplinary approach under NEP and the availability of electives were among the factors that influenced my decision to choose this course.

Why Azim Premji University?

Likes

The quality of teaching for my course - BA Economics (Hons) is exceptional. The professors give quality time with each student to ensure concepts are clear and go beyond the surface level teaching of all concepts.
Every student gets their own mentor, who is a professor within the University who will help you guide yourself through everything, ranging from academic difficulties to personal grievances. There are regular sessions scheduled with these mentors..
There is plenty of freedom in the university. Unlike other university's there is no strict dress code or unreasonable rules for the students to follow. The campus allows each indivitual to be true to themselves.

Dislikes

The campus is very far from the city, making it difficult to have any sort of weekend get aways to the city tiresome. There are very few places around the campus that will let you experience city life.
The university does not encourage competitive spirit festivals like youth festivals apart from sports. Hence narrowing down the avenues where students can get certificates for extra curriculars to add on to your CVs
Academic rigor can get too overwhelming sometimes and one may not get time to study for other parallel exams for masters like GMAT, CAT, GRE etc. Finding time for extra curriculars may also get difficult.

Placement Experience:

The university does have a placement team which faculy and student led. Studnets become eligible for placements towards the end of their fourth year - last semeter. Approximately 100-150 NGO's come to campus for recruiting. The university does not promote private firms for placement but students can apply indivitually. The average pay is 20 Lakh per year. Many students after undergraduation opt for higher studies, so is my plan. But most of the master's students opt for placement and 98% - 99% get placed into NGO in top positions. I plan to pursure a masters degree after my undergraduation, preferably in economics.

Insight into KJC by a real life student

Likes

The campus is a plus. It's really clean and green. They really take care of the cleanliness of the Campus. As for the girls to boys ratio, in my class there are more girls than boys. Idk much about college overall.
I like my professors a lot. But it's all about luck. I got nice ones.
We have LMS in college. So we are provided with notes and syllabus online that we can use anytime we want.

Dislikes

The administrative office is very annoying sometimes. Just to answer one question they send the students to different offices and waste our time.
I don't understand the dress code system. I mean it's good but girls are not allowed to wear long skirt. I'm not talking about short clothes. But even long skirts are not allowed.
I would say I dislike the locality sometimes. It's not that developed so there's always something kind of construction going on which causes a lot of pollution and breathing problem specially for me with breathing issues.

Course Curriculum Overview:

We get to learn many things not because of just the syllabus and courses but also because of the national and international conferences that are held in our college. People from other colleges come in and share their knowledge with us. This experience is really good for us students. We even have expert lectures from our alumnis who give us advice on what all is required in the world outside college to earn. All these are really helpful.

Nice environment of RPD College

There is no need to give any entrance exam to get admission in this college. If you want admission in this college then you allot the seat on the basis of your 12th mark. If you want any information about admission application and fees, you can go to the college and ask at the help desk and admission office. If we talk about exams, then in our college there are 2 unit exams in every semester and in this each subject paper is of 50 marks and at the end there is semester final exam which is 100 marks paper for each subject. There is difficulty in the exam but it is easy if you prepare properly....Read More

RPD -An ideal college for every student

To take admission into the BA stream, you need to complete your +12(Arts, science or commerce stream). The application form is available along with the brochure which can be collected at the college office during working hours. The staff is very cooperative and help you with your queries such as selection of subjects, exam methodology etc. The fees at my time were around 8k. Also, scholarships and fee concessions were provided to deserving students. The admission process could be made an online process thus saving time and also preventing queues, especially during pandemic times....Read More
