Course Curriculum Overview
Dentistry is ART! At the start of the course, it felt hectic and boring but now I enjoy learning and practicing dentistry! Our curriculum here is quite hectic but it really really prepares us for the clinical and treatment procedures. The frequency of exams is quite okay. We have 3 internal exams and then final exams. The final exams are difficult and competitive. The internal exams are prepared by the faculty which has its difficulty level. I just suggest getting some more time for exam preparation. In the 1 and 2nd years, we get more time to study but from 3rd year we start with the clinical postings and it will be hard to keep up with the ongoing classes and stuff.
Internships Opportunities
We have paid internships here at Government Dental College and hospital, Vijayawada. The interns get 23 thousand rupees per month during their internship. There are no placements offered here during internships.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is way less than other colleges. 1st year - college fee (~25k) hostel fee (16k). 2nd-final year- college fee (~15k) hostel fee (7-8k). We can always get- state government scholarships, Colgate and other private scholarships. The interns do get a stipend of 23k monthly for a year. The students have opportunities for jobs outside of the campus.
Campus Life
We don't have any annual festivals or events except Ganesh Chaturthi. As it's the only festival we celebrate it will be held on a very big scale! The library is all helpful. We can always borrow standard books and journals. The college has 2 lecture halls and an auditorium. The auditorium has a digital board. All the classes have access to the projectors. The intermediates are held from time to time. No student-based groups or clubs are there.
Hostel Facilities
The college-attached hostel is so affordable!! For first year students hostel fee will be around 16-17k but from 2nd year we only need to pay 7-8k yearly. The meal quality is quite okay. We need to pay monthly mess bills. The rooms are spacious. There are 2 persons per room.
Admission
Eligibility - 12 pass (bipc)+ NEET UG The cut-off is high as it's a government college. The admission process goes smoothly and details regarding the admission process will be available on the respective official websites.
Faculty
The faculty here is helpful. Every faculty has a unique way of teaching. Apart from lectures, we have teacher-student discussions, PowerPoint presentations, viva voce, etc. I am satisfied with the faculty here. The teachers are kind and approachable.
