Dislikes
- Seats in every classroom is extremely uncomfortable because they are just metal chairs which we see in parks and the desk in front is made from granite which is far and gets too cold in winters.
- 75% attendance in core subjects and 90% attendance is mandatory to qualify.
- Less experienced faculty and the teaching is like school teaching
Course Curriculum Overview
My course demand new gen tech knowledge and its an everchanging field and my college does fulfill 75-80% of its need by course curriculum and I did use my syllabus as the basics of the subject never change. The problem with curriculum is that it has some really old and obsolete things and that has no relevance what so ever. There is always spoon-feeding in teaching for help in university exams. Labs are pretty new for automobile engg and they are coming up with Eicher Truck lab which is really an exclusive thing in the northern part. Exams are pretty easy and they ask what they taught in classes and PPT. There are 2MSTs and 1EST
Fees and Financial Aid
For my course, the academic fee for one semester is rs92000 which includes rs2500 examination fee. for a whole year, it will be rs184000. There is an extra rs10000 paid for training and placement program (TPP) that will prepare for placement drives and only TPP students can sit in drives
Campus Life
Life at CU is ok as well as good because of the hectic schedule you won't get much time for anything. There is a CU fest in winters and its kinda boring with few celebs visiting here. Library is good for you course as every block has its own library with their set of books which are easy accessible. Club culture is very rare here but there was an initiative to run and be part of club but due to classes it is going down.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are a better deal if you don't want to travel for 8-10km. Rooms are a bit small with a bed, almirah, and a study table provided and there's an option of 4 seater & 5 seater (AC with 5 seater only. MESS food is ok but you will get bored of it because of the repeating menu. The locality is nothing but a village and nearest location after this is 6km far.
Admission
I chose this college over others as my course is really limited and does not exist very commonly. I chose CU as its reputation for academics is very good as compared to others in the competition and the labs were genuinely better. Admission is very easy and there are multiple ways to come here. There is an exam CUCET which is easy to crack and you get a scholarship on this basis also.
Faculty
There are about 72 students in every classroom but in Automobile Engg the strength is quite low and we are only 31 students which is a plus point as we have more focus and less competition in placements. Faculties and HOD are very open and easy to deal with and they understand personal problems as well. The teaching style however is elementary and school-like as well as the PPTs. There is 1 exam every month that we call Mid Sem Test (MST) and there are 2 MSTs only, after this one final exam is there (EST). Exams are pretty easy to crack if you have PPTs and attended classes. There are still some backlog students but the subjects were hard for them like Mathematics.
