Course Curriculum Overview

5

The research area of IIT Ropar is amazing. I want to pursue higher education so choosen this college. They introduce us to modern tech and methods that is performed in industries . Some areas can be improved related to attendence policy but the teaching is good . Classes are from morning 10 am to evening 5 pm depending upon branch and courses and are medium to hard level.

5

Companies like Google ,Microsoft,Flipkart, Amazon, Texas etc visits our college with 4to 5 offers each or sometimes more. 200 offers are made and around 80 percent students got placed from IIT Ropar. I have planned to go for ms in usa after my degree

Campus Life

4.5

The overall environment of college is amazing, we have three fest Zeitgeist the cultural fest adivitya technical fest and aaarohan sports fest in January august and October respectively. We have around 20k books in library and 5k softcopies of different articles. Big classrooms which is crazy with each seat having charging point , mics . A big sports complex , an NGO pehchaan ek safar run by student body creating a large impact on student by educating them are all the best things of IIT Ropar.

Hostel Facilities

5

We have double sharing hostels till third year and triple sharing in final year with bed cupboard and almirah . Water cooler well cleaned toilets are there. In mess best quality foods are provided and special meals on festivals with paneer and chicken. Hostel is Mandotory and registered is done at the time of college registration.

Admission

IIT Ropar is better in terms of research and development. All the faculties and different MoU gives great exposure to students so I have chosen this college . Others iits haves their own pros and cons but like others iits Ropar stands among top 15 iits which is institute of national importance. If I had got more marks in IIT advance then I will surely got other top college but yes I am happy with my college and it's beautiful life that it has given me. Students have to go through jee mains and jee advanced based on that rank they have to enroll in josaa counselling and after that they enter into the college alloted on the merit of ranks. I have applied to other colleges like bits pilani ,jadavpur university that are equivalent to iits . I make it to jadavpur and bits too but preferred IIT over it because of the life , tag ,alums. Jee advanced is mandatory for iits , after that students have to go through josaa counselling to get a seat into iit

Faculty

4.5

All the faculties are outstanding professors of India . faculty to students ratio is around 1: 20. The faculties are easily approachable on mail , or physically. I like all the faculties who taught me as the level of teachings and the relation they maintain with student is amazing. A faculty Dr ram prasad is like not giving appropriate marks to students he is happy in failing students. The course curriculum is up to date and courses are medium to hard not easy and each semester around 7 8 courses are there.

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
