IIM Indore- A glimpse

This course teaches a variety of subjects from mathematics to sociology and programming to political science. It also has swimming, football, dance, drama as electives. I chose this course because you can never think that it's monotonous, and is always exciting. There will always be at least one subject you love. The programme teaches programming which is an in demand skill, it teaches sociology and political science which helps us understand the landscape and how it affects the business world, to make us more effective managers. The 3-4 month term consists of 2 quizzes, 1 midterm and 1 endterm, so the exams are frequent.

After the second year, all students have to mandatorily participate in a social internship. The placements are done through the institute. This internship includes working with NGOs and social institutions to help us become socially conscious leaders.

The placements are available only after the fifth year of IPM, that is after obtaining the MBA degree. it is a dual degree program which means that after completing three years, you have an exit option which allows you to leave the course with just a B. A. in Foundations in Management. However, you can only avail the benefits of campus placements after you complete an MBA from this institute. the highest package goes to 1.3 CPA and the average package is 30.2 LPA. 100% of students get placement from campus itself

The fees for the first three years (undergraduate) are 5-6 Lakh per year. The fees for the last two years (MBA) is 10-12 lakh per year. There is a security deposit of 50,000. Students of all categories pay the same fees, but there is an institute backed need based financial assistance scholarship which pays off the interest on loans taken by families whose incomes are less than 12 Lakh per annum. Other than this, there are state backed scholarships as well. There are no academics- only scholarships.

along with the IBM programme being academically rigourous it also allows for a holistic development of students. Being a residential program, there is a vibrant campus life with many student run initiatives, like clubs and committees. These host events like sports competitions, dance and music nights etc. the library and IIM Indore has a wide variety of titles varying from topic to topic. there are facilities for the students to play almost all sorts of sports. There are TT tables in the common rooms, badminton courts in hostels etc. The classrooms are well equipped with projectors, blackboards, whiteboards and air conditioners

The hostels are neat and clean. The hostels are neat and clean and have facilities like common rooms and badminton courts, basketball court and table tennis tables in many hostels. The students mess has a range of dishes in the menu on a weekly basis. Living in hostels is compulsory as IPM is a residential programme. The mess is also compulsory for IPM students.

I appeared for NEET-UG and scored a rank good enough for a government medical college. However, I choose IPM at IIM Indore because it is a well reputed institute, the programme has a good placement record, and as I like to learn a lot of things and the course is diverse, it seems like a great fit. This college has an entrance test, IPMAT which shortlists some candidates based on sectional cutoffs. These candidates then go through an interview process and are then selected for the programme.

The faculty to student ratio varies from subject to subject and programme to programme, but the faculty and teaching associates are always ready to help students with any doubts. There are quizzes, midterms and endterms. Usually, 7-8 students in total fail. The course curriculum focuses on making us well rounded socially and contextually relevant leaders, hence the diverse range of subjects we study is sensible. There is a system of relative grading in place

There was an interview for the admission. Firstly an aptitude test called IPMAT is taken. The students who clear the cutoff are shortlisted for the interview round. The final selection criteria gives the written part 65% weightage and interview 35% weightage. The interview for IIM Indore is very academics based. I prepared for it by brushing up my subjects that I had in 11th and 12th and by reading up on current affairs
