I opted for BSC Information Technology here, and I seriously enjoyed my 3 years here, the college gives me lots of friends all together with the degree. I scored an overall 82.5% in my graduation till the 5th semester and I am the University topper as well as College topper too.
Entrance Exam, Merit List.
There is a total of 40+ courses available at Khalsa College, Amritsar. If I describe the exam pattern, there will be Conditional Tests during the mid of the semester, based on the conditional marks percentage the assessment for the final semester should be calculated.
There are lots of multinational companies visited every month in that college, the students who get placed got their call letter within a week. There exist a Placement Cell for help regarding placements and interviews.
There are various events celebrated by each and every department of our college like the Computer Department celebrates TECH FEST every year, Raunak is celebrated, Jhoomar, etc are the main events of Khalsa College.
Fees structure is quite expensive for the general category students, but if you are an SC/BC student then you have the right to have your scholarship. If we compare the fee structure with the facilities provided by the college, then it will not be expensive as we think.
Scholarships are provided to the meritorious students as well as for minority students and also for schedule casts. If you are a College Topper then you will get a 50% scholarship and if you are a University Topper then you get 100% scholarship.
In extracurricular activities, our college must provide NCC training facilities, Bhangra and Gidha Classes as well. If I talk about labs, they are provided with the facility of ACs and Smart Computers. Sports day is also celebrated in our college, Games like Cricket, Football, Hockey, etc are also available.
No, I have not opted for the hostel, but according to Hostler's, the mess of the hostel is really amazing and the rooms are quite ventilated. The warden of the hostel is strict in terms of rules and paperwork but in reality, he/she is friendly with students.
Senior students are really friendly, when we are juniors they helped us in every part of Tech Fest organized in our college, they encourage us and motivates us if we have any kind of trouble in college regarding studies and exams.
Based on my recent marks percentage in 12th standard, I got admission here. Or I can simply say that, based on my merit in the 12th standard, I got admission in this college easily. Also, there is an interview type meeting with Dean or Registrar.
The faculty members are really amazing, they cheer you up and motivates you in each and every phase, they help the students in every way either with extra lectures or with additional notes. They share a friendship like bond with students.
Actually I didn't want to do drop after my class 12th like all students of my class were doing but my parents were suggesting me to take a drop and appear for the medical exam but I didn't want to be a doctor so as an alternative I look for a college and I found IISER Mohali best for that.
The only place where IISER Mohali is lagging behind is in terms of placement as IISER Mohali doesn't offer technical courses so direct placements to companies is not possible the only sector in companies where students can go for is Research and Development Department.
Placement opportunities are very poor. For home science, students' internship opportunities are available in different ways. There is a non-working placement cell. science students get no placement or internship opportunities. This college lacks behind in terms of exposure.
in one world it's small town in itself. I really enjoying here.
Overall, I have a very good experience with the college in these 3 years and I'm yet to see other aspects of the college. I particularly love the theme parties we organize in the college, like, last month we hosted Italian theme party and our teachers were quite supportive. The area near my college is quite peaceful and so I have a good time, when we are free.
Management is good but laboratories are not good.
Less co-curriculum activities, academically very good
