Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

The college is affiliated to KTU and the syllabus is the same for all government-funded institutions and most of the private institutions in Kerala. Thus students find it very easy to prepare for the university examinations as the question papers are of easy to moderate level. Though the questions are easy for university exams, internal exams conducted by the college make it difficult to match the extraordinary minds of the students present in the campus. the syllabus is old and do not actually make students eligible for real world applications. Lab facilites are available but more preference is given to theory knowledge and therefore practical skill development through the KTU syllabus is difficult. There are two internal exams conducted for each semester before the university examination of moderate to difficult-level question papers. Thus preparing for internal exams will easily make students eligible and efficient for university exams.

Placement Experience

3.5

The college is well known for the placements and salary packages it provides. Many companies of national and international standards offer placements with salary packages ranging from an average salary of 6,00,000 to 50,00,000. Some of the reputed companies that offer placements are Texas Instruments, Scheighder, Infosys, Technopark, Caterpillar, Oracle, Shobha Constructions, Tismo, Unacademy, etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

For my first year of college, I paid 9650 as tuition fees. This was paid to the government directly. Then an extra fees of 9000 was paid on my day of admission which included bus fare, CETAA development fund and others. From second year onwards the tuition fee is 13660 including university examination fees. But from my second year, I have the Egrantz scholarship which will cover my total tuition fees. Many scholarships like Egrantz, Mcm, and reliance are available which will grand you upto 70,000 per year and can help you cover the whole tuition amd hostel fees

Campus Life

3

The 3 D's 'Drishti' which is the technical festival, 'Dhwani' which is the cultural and 'Disha' which is mainly focused on freshers, mentored and monitored by seniors. There will be many workshops and talk shows during Drishti which is taken by famous personalities and professors from various IIT's and NIT's. Students from various college will participate in this event. The library is well equipped with wide range of books which are both technical and general point of view. The library is open from 9am to 9pm on every working days. All classrooms are equipped with projectors and sufficient amount of seating arrangements. Some the class contains air conditioners also. Social clubs like BBC, Literature, music, dance clubs and technical clubs like Heracles, Exelerators, robo Cet, IEEE.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

I live in a neraby rented house where I share my expenses with ten others. The house has a total of four rooms two bathrooms, a kitchen and a hall. Each rooms have two to three study tables and chairs, three beds and cupboards. The accommodation rent is 2000 with another 500 for Wifi, water and electricity. There is one government hostel girls and boys separately inside the college campus where students get allotted based on their annual income and how far they come from. These government hostels are the most affordable since it only has a total fee of around 3500 for food and all other expenses. There are also many other affordable private hostels and PGs available around the college. For students staying at rented houses or hostels with no mess facilities, there are many nearby food messes available in affordable rents where students get meals three times a day at considerable rates.

Admission

I actually wanted to get admitted to one of the central government-funded Institutes like NIT, IITs or IIITs. But since I was not able to score enough marks in JEE, I decided I wanted to get admission in CET as it is the number one state government-funded college in Kerala. Thus I prepared for the KEAM exam and secured a decent rank of 2050. I wanted a seat in Btech in Electronics and Communication but I could only secure a seat in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at CET. The admission process is based on the ranks secured in KEAM and the cutoffs are low compared to all other private and state-funded colleges. Cutoff for Electrical engineering was around 2500, CS was around 700 and EC was around 1200.

Faculty

2.5

The faculties are well educated and experienced. But not all of them are approachable and many lack proper communication skills. Most of the teachers teach through slide show presentations and just read out what is written on the slides. There are two internal exams for each semester and the paper level is moderate to difficult. But I would say compared to the university exams, internal exams are difficult since the paper is made to match the brilliant minds.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is excellent because it contains so many informative ideas and the practical lab is the best. I chose this course to get an idea about the civil engineering field and i m satisfied with it. The faculty members are very supportive and helpful. The student ratio is very low. Faculties at our college are MTech holders and PHD also. There will be two series exams and one university exam in each semester and there are eight semesters in Btech.
