Course Curriculum Overview

3

Overall the course curriculum is relevant to the industry standards consisting everything that has been taught for over past 10 years. Though the technologies are slightly old and dated making them less relevant if we want to pursue a field that is highly-trendy. to be knowledgable in them we need to attend extra workshops organized by our college. The exams are highly theoritical and comparitively easy, but it is still extremely hard to get a CGPA over 9.0 only top 1% students have it in our department that is AI&ML

Internships Opportunities

1

Getting an internship was extra hard as placements started after 6th semester if you want an internship anytime before that you need to get referrals and keep applying everytime an opportunity comes by on LinkedIn or Indeed. Some companies that arrived to offer internships by the end of 3rd year are WNS holdings, Cummins, PwC, Amazon, Morgan Stanley, JTG, Emulus, WatchGuard and a few others but they were highly selective and stipend ranged from 15k to 30k mostly

Placement Experience

4

The students become eligible for placements once the 6th semester has begun, they provide DCPD training to get us ready for interviews and initial rounds for the organization. Over 50 companies have visited the campus in over last 2 semesters and over 1200 students have been already placed. The highest package would be Morgan Stanley at 25lakh per annum. Companies like WNS, PlaySimple, TCS, Wipro, HCL, Capgemini, WatchGuard, Emulus, PwC and cummins have visited. My plans after college are to firstly get a placement gain some work experience and pursue masters from an European country

Fees and Financial Aid

The academic fee is Rs.105000, Examination fee is Rs.2500 these are for each semester. For hostel its Rs.100000 for an entire year i.e. 2 semesters. I secured a scholarship of 50% by attending the CUCET exam in online mode which is valid if I maintain a CGPA of 7.5 or above. But, the fees has been on a continuous rise with every passing year.

Campus Life

5

The campus life is extremely bustling as events are extremely common here. There are Tech-fests, hackathons and tournaments on a monhtly basis. CU-Fest the annual fest is also organized twice every year. Most of the books and journals are available in the college library or its digital archive any book which is not available can be requested online and it will be made available at the earliest Sports is great here but only if you are already experienced. If you are a beginner you wont be selected into any official teams A lot of student groups and clubs exist which organise tons of events on a day-to-day basis some of them are IEEE, Google Developer Society club, Alexa Developers club and modelling club.

Hostel Facilities

5

The hostel facilites are great if you want to reduce your expenses as its cheap than living in the nearby area called Kharar which can also be unsafe at times. The facilites provided by the hostel are: Free electricity, 24/7 food availability, good management, high security, free gym, overall a fun environment to live in. The registration process is very simple you just have to apply for the hostel then pay the fee and fill the registration form after arrival .

Admission

I chose Chandigarh University over other colleges because of its strong reputation, robust AI&ML specialization and a supportive academic environment. The university offers a comprehensive course structure and state-of-the-art facilities, which played a major role in my decisions. I also won an scholarship thorugh the CUCET exam organized by Chandigarh Univeristy which was highly alluring. CU had a good NIRF ranking, it was rated NAAC A+ which also played a role. Other colleges I applied to were TIET, PEC and UIE. UIE and PEC had extremely high academic requirements and TIET was really expensive

Faculty

4

The faculty-to-student ratio is decent, the faculties are highly approachable and eager to help you if neccessary. Some of the best faculty for me would be Dr.U Hariharan our academic co-ordinator who taught us in great depth while being a little strict and Mr. Dayal Chandra Sati he taught us computer networks and network operating system, while neing highly interested in taking questions and providing guidance

Night Life

4

The timings are highly restricitve girls hostels are closed off around 8 PM and they are not allowed to go outside or anywhere even in campus. For boys they are not allowed to leave after 9 PM but if they are already in-campus they can return however late they want. The common hangout spot for me and my friends would be TJs it is a cafeteria situtated below our D2 block where our classes are organized. Some more fun spots are the fountain park, Food Republic and the Pentagon Food Court.

Placement Experience:

Students generally become eligible for placement from 7th semester, with numerous major companies like wipro, cognizant and various tech startups visit the campus with various offers. The university sees a high percentage of students getting placed. The package are widely depending on various skill and codes. Furthermore while the highest package looks impressive on paper, the avg package remains modest for the majority of the batch. My personal plans after getting the degree focus on exploring independent entrepreneurial ventures rather than tradition corporate placement.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
