Payyannur College Payyanur Kannur, B.Sc, Mathematics

Reviewed on Dec 19, 2024(Enrolled 2021)

Remarks

I chose this college as this is the nearest and the best college in my district. In every aspects our college is the best including sports, arts, cultural programmes everything. We can get admission through merit seats or the management seats

Course Curriculum Overview

The course is very much relevant as it includes the fundamentals of basic Mathematics and Statistics I personally chose Mathematics as I was interested. The course curriculum is good as it helped very much in my masters.

Class Size: 40Course Fees: INR 1500 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

As our college is a government institution we didn't need any money to study. We just needed 1000 rupees per semester for regrestering our exam into our university. Also there are many scholarships for the students who got into the college by merit seat. And there are management seats worth upto 1 lakh which differs from the subject we take.

Campus Life

In 3 years of graduation there were many programmes as cultural day, holi, union programmes, onam ,christmas,Fests, and sports events and many more. We can get any book related to any subject in the library.

Faculty

Teachers are highly qualified and well experienced .In graduation we have 6 semesters. The first 2 years we have 6 papers and at the last year we have 5 papers of the main subject.Faculties are always ready to help everyone who is struggling in their studies.Exam is not that difficult to clear. The course is very much relevant as it include basic mathematics and statistics which we needed in further studies

Night Life

Gym and cafeteria's are available upto 5-6 pm. Library is also available. Hostel is also nearby the college itself in a small walking distance. Garden is also a good place to spend the time in leisure classes

Experiences so far

Likes

My experience at lissah has been mixing of challenges. Psychology depart has supportive teachers and classes is good
Campus is peaceful and it’s so greenery there are opportunities to take part in different academics
I also like that the psychology department has its own lab and practical exposure and Lissah is well known for psychology itself

Dislikes

I feel that there could be more programmes activities and opportunities for students to make college life
Location could feel like quiet and it’s not in town area
Those who prefer more active atmosphere I would not recommend here

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose bsc psychology because I was interested in understanding human behaviour. The curriculum covers different areas of psychology along with subjects such as major psychology minor statistics and physiology then English mdc . Since I am still in my first year I have only experienced the initial part of course

Academic excellence in a beautiful campus

Likes

Academic excellence is there. 90 % of students are merit based admission, those who have achieved 90 and above percentage in 12 th grade. So there is high passing percentage.
Cultural programs are regularly conducted. Don't feel stressed out by studies

Dislikes

Sports activities are not regularly conducted or encouraged
Chemistry lab is not clean, chemicals are not kept correctly

Course Curriculum Overview:

My favourite subject is biology. I have applied for zoology course but unfortunately there is no seats available at that time, so I chose Botany which is also my favourite. The curriculum is perfect and prepares for real world. More practical sessions are needed. Every 6 months there will be semester exam. Which is not that much tough.

The ever green payyanur college

Admission to the college is strictly based on marks the candidate scored in plus two examinations. There is no entrance test for admission. The college is near the national highway and because of easiness to access, I chose this college. I belong to the OBC category, but I do have enough marks to get admitted to the general quota. If you got anything above 85 percent in the higher secondary examination, then you can secure your seat in the case of arts subjects, which is not the case for science subjects. There are also few management seats besides the merit seats. The admission procedure was simple as now the university follows a fully digital allotment process. You have to download the admission memo from the university website, during the allotment process. On the day of admission, you need to go to college with the downloaded admission memo and your certificates. You can meet your department teachers and principal and after verifying certificates you have to pay fees, which is very nominal for merit candidates....Read More
