Remarks
The college has an amazing infrastructure and faculty and good course curriculum but the rules are little outdated for example not bringing in camera phones however recently this has been amended and proposals have been put forward to revise the curriculum to make it more challenging
Course Curriculum Overview
It's an amazing curriculum with emphasis not just on core but they offer electives from other departments as well. They also have included activities such as personality development classes and other skill based classes greatly enhancing student knowledge
Internships Opportunities
It does not provide internship though it's mandatory to go for one during the last semester of college. The college does give letters of recommendation and also letter of gratitude post the internship period.
Placement Experience
The college has very good placement opportunities. Most students go through placements while others don't owing to the fact that they pursue other professional careers. Outside of the college placements are good because of the goodwill of the college
College Events
There is ovations which is an intra department fest during the start of the year mostly during august. Then there are interested department culturals organised by various departments. There is also a function called ignite which is an intercollege dance festival
Fee Structure And Facilities
For the morning shift since it's government aided the fee is concessional though numbers may vary but feasible. Evening shift however is self aided so it's fees are a bit higher than the morning shift but it's neither expensive or feasible in comparison to the education provided
Fees and Financial Aid
There are plenty of scholarships available to people below the poverty line. I have not personally availed scholarship. There are also private sponsors who sponsor students based on their academic excellence.
Campus Life
There are sports facilities and high end labs for the science stream and computer stream students. They have inter departmental sports competitions which encourage sportsman spirit. They also have an activity called outreach where students are required to go to slums and help people there.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is age old and quite amazing and each student has an option to choose either an air conditioned room or otherwise. The room is shared by two persons. They also provide food both vegetarian and non vegetarian
Alumni/Alumna
Since the college has huge notable alumni the network and contacts they offer are baffling. There has never been an instance of ragging reported for the past decade primarily because the seniors are very welcoming
Exam Structure
There are 6 semesters over the course of 3 years. Each semester carries 2 internal tests for a total of 100 marks each which will be later converted to 50 and a end semester exam of 100 which is also converted to 50 and the sum is added to give a total of 100
Admission
I was shortlisted under merit and there are two shifts. I was shortlisted for the morning shift and asked to attend the interview held at commerce department. They asked routine commerce questions during the interview and after a day they posted confirmation of my admission
Faculty
The faculty of the college are well educated and highly qualified. The college has basic educational requirements only on the satisfaction of which the faculty are employed. The particular faculty is usually a specialist in one chosen area.
