Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum overall is pretty badly designed atleast in my category. The courses seem repitative. For example python machine learning was taught to us in first sem and now in forth sem they have started with basics of python altogether again. The curriculum could be designed alot better and be more practical rather than theoretical. The assignments could easily be printed and not hand written along with practical files.

Fees and Financial Aid

290000 is the course fees per year. They gave me a scholarship for 80000 per year but then removed it as I got a cgpa less than 7.5. Other than course fees is exam fees which is 5000 per semester and I also availed hostel which costs me 138000 per year for 5 seater ac room. The fees of cse general is approximately 200000 per annum. The fees of other categories are much less, mine is alot on the higher side.

Campus Life

5

The festivals in college are pretty good. The size of the campus is huge and festivals can be easily conducted. Three major events are diwali fest, CAB meeting or CU fest and tech invent. Tech invent is open for every college student out there whereas other two can only be attended by CU students. There are multiple more smaller fests, seminars and activities. There are sports clubs all around the campus. You can participate in all these events via something called daca(department of art and cultural affair) which let's you actively take part in the presentation of these events from first view.

Admission

I got admission in MUJ and got bad reviews about the same. The average package after passout a lot lesser compared to CU. I also applied for lpu and then didn't proceed hearing about its bad reputation. I also tried to jee exams and failed to clear jee mains. I was too late for thappar as exams were already over by the time I decided to apply. The admission is pretty simple, you get one scholarship test which gives you certain amount of scholarship which stays as long as you maintain a regular attendance of 75% and 7.5cgpa per semester. Rest for applying you should have passed pcm for engineering related categories.

Faculty

5

The faculty is sometimes good but sometimes not up to the mark. Mostly the teachers in my department are helpful even promoting projects outside college assignments and helping us create our own projects. The exams are usually the stressful part of the year. The exams passing criteria is easier to clear if you have studied in class. There are generally 2 mid sems and one end sem. However starting third semester they introduced amcats which is a rare find in a college. This promotes students who have a higher aptitude and coding level to gain extra knowledge by segregating them in another batch.

Night Life

5

Nightlife inside campus ends at around 8-8:30 as girls hostel along with all the shops close at that time. The library is open till 10 in the night and girls can stay till 10 with special permissions required from wardens and libraries on case of day scholars. The hostel nightlife is however much better as there are shops open till 12. There are studyrooms which are open 24/7 along with access to unlimited wifi. There are multiple gyms(free) and clothes washer(paid) inside hostel. The timings for gyms however is unsatisfactory along with the rush at peak hours makes it next to impossible to actually work out. One can roam freely around the hostel all night without any fear of security concerns. Inside campus there is dominos and la pinoz as major brands and multiple smaller brands like samosa express and food scientist. No major brands inside hostel.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
