Course Curriculum Overview

5

• Specific aspects of the curriculum that influenced me to choose this course is that I wanted to pursue masters after graduation. • The curriculum prepares us pretty good for the real-world as the course has real scenario based subjects. • There are 3 years and 6 semesters so we have to give 2 exams every year and the exams are not difficult.

Fees and Financial Aid

• Tution fees- ? 900 • Tution fees- ? 900 Exam Enrolment- ? 600 Registration Fees- ? 800 • The fees of my batchmates for other categories were also same that is- ? 900 There is a scholarship named Swami Vivekananda Scholarship available for students for financial aid and the amount is ? 1,000 per month

Campus Life

4

• Every year in the month of January social fest is organised by the college. • The range and accessibility of books and journals available in the library is very huge. • The facilities available in the classrooms are average. • Every year Inter-college badminton tournament is held in the college campus. • Students union group is run by the students themselves and their student life is not impacted by that.

Admission

• I applied to- i) Michael Madhusudan Memorial College ii) Trivenidevi Bhalotia College iii) Asansol Girls College iv) Bidhan Chandra College V) BB College I got confirmed admission from- i) Michael Madhusudan Memorial College ii) BB College I choose this college because of the distance from my house. • No I didn't get a rejection from other colleges. • The admission process is very simple first we have to fill the form online in the official website of the college and the selection will be done on the basis of the merit lists and then physical verification of documents will be done.

Faculty

4

• The faculty to student relationship is very good and the faculty members are quite approachable. • The name of the faculty that I liked is Mr. Pratha Chatterjee. I liked him because he is very understanding and helpful. All the faculty members are quite good. • There are 3 years and 6 semesters so we have to give 2 exams every year and the exams are not difficult. The course curriculum is totally relevant.

Night Life

5

• There is a gym in the college campus which is open for all the students, a huge library is also there. • The campus timings are - 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. • The best hangout place is the college canteen. Yes, the locality is safe to roam around at night.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
