Overall aspects of Gurucharan College

No regular service of drinking water, no proper sanitation. Unclean toilets. Simple rooms, halls and departments. WiFi facility is overwhelming. The office staffs prefer to be in rough mood most of the times.

Its pretty good actually. We have semester system. My course is of 3 year duration that includes 6 semesters in it. Every semester, i appeared 3 honours papers each of 50 marks, followed by 3 pass papers each of 35 marks. That was the story of every odd Sem (1,3&5). In every even sem(2,4&6), 3 honours papers for non practical subjects(each of 50 marks each) and 4 honours papers for practical subjects(3 for theory each of 35 marks and 1 for practical for 30 marks) and 3 pass papers.

No placements and job opportunities are provided from my department (Mathematics). There may be any other departments which provides placements and job opportunities but I didn't get to know about those anyway.

Every year, our college celebrates it's foundation day on 15th July. On 15th July, our college was established. Every year, Freshers day is celebrated, welcoming the new students. Every year, Sharod Utsov and Milad-e-Mehfil are celebrated in the later half of the year. Sharod Utsov is celebrated just before Durga Puja (A Bengali, Hindu festival) depicting the characters of Durga Puja. Milad-e-Mehfil is celebrated by all the Muslim community (specifically, I have no idea about that). And many more. I have included some of the events that I know of. There are many.

As compared to any other Government college, Gurucharan College, Silchar, Cachar, Assam, India; charges more fees. I took admission in 2015. My course was B.Sc. and I had to pay Rs 5000 + for the first year. It significantly increased yearly. Hence, I would rather say the fee structure is expensive.

Our college offers "Student Aid" scholarship to meritorious poor students. That's the only one I know!! However, there are many scholarships like Ishaan Uday, Central Scheme Scholarship and many more provided by the government through our college.

Laboratories are quite good, neat and clean. It is provided with all of the required apparatus and devices necessary for the successful explanation of all the topics in the syllabus. Staffs are very helpful as well!

I didn't opt for hostel. I preferred to stay by renting a room near my college. However, as far as I know about the hostel, they are under construction aiming to increase the number of intakes and better facilities.

Yes, they are quite helpful. They are very helpful in terms of academics and other cultural activities. They help us by providing notes, by career guiding and aslo help in many official works where we suffer problem.

First I collected an admission form from College office. I filled it up with all my 12th standard documents. After some days, merit list was declared and I got selected. Then, I got called for counselling and was allowed to chose my desired subjects. After that, I paid the fees, which was quite high for a government college. That's it.

I would say, Our college faculty are the best. There are many other colleges where the faculty are really good. I love my Mathematics faculty. English faculty are the best in our college. I am in love with the faculty of our college.
