What Students Say

Likes

The friendliness of the faculty members and the college staff
The social interaction is good has good seniors

Dislikes

The infrastructure of the college is very poor and needs to be developed
The college is far away from town due to which communication is a problem
It’s near highway which is being constructed and has many cons such as the main gate is not opened

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum is based on old knowledge which needs to be improved and thr frequency of classes should be increased. The examination is fine and it's easy if we attend classes. Teaching methods can be improved once we have a good infrastructure.

Class Size: 50Course Fees: INR 12000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes the fees is increasing it's almost 6000-8000 per semester. They also charge 1600-2000 as examination fees. Yes govt scholarships are provided for which you have to apply separately. There is no merit based scholarship

Campus Life

Tech fest was last done in 2019 and after that this year it was conducted. There are many clubs such as robotics club ncc and many more for our social life but it lacks in many ways because the campus is based on the old science college

Admission

To get admission in this college we need to clear the Common entrance examination also known as Cee conducted by the Assam Government every year. I took admission in this college because I got a seat based on the marks

Faculty

Faculty members are good and has knowledge but due to lack of infrastructure the teaching methods are lacking. They conduct 3 exams which are knows as Class Internal Evaluation which is of 20 marks each and best of 2 are considered for internal marking and one final exam known as end sem is conducted of 80 marks. If we fail is a subject then we can reappear the subject in an odd semester as a backlog subject

Night Life

There is no gym in the campus has only one small cafeteria which can't be called as cafeteria and has hostels for both boys and girls which requires development. The last time to enter hostel is 7:00 p.m. The locality is not safe to roam at night as it's near highway and rainforest because of which many animals are found inside our college campus

A chapter of growth, my college life

Likes

Since I am in civil dept so the civil dept is the most well maintained and beautiful dept of my college. The faculty members are more or less friendly and good.
Teachers are good and friendly. Specially in civil the seniors are also good and friendly.
In civil dept there are many events which take place as compared to other dept .

Dislikes

Only boys hostel is there but no girls hostel.
In civil dept the placement opportunities are not upto the mark but in other dept specially chemical placement is good even in mechanical too.
Campus can be made more beautiful although work is going on.

Course Curriculum Overview:

See I had the passion for civil since my 10th std. I am really happy about my course . Because there are many job opportunities in govt sector in Assam. I like the teachers of my dept but some are not that friendly . Maybe it depends upon their mood sometimes I don't know really . The civil course is practical it's enjoyable. I would have liked it more if it would had more placement opportunities on campus . Otherwise it's fine

The management cell of the college is also do grat jobs. But the main problem I have found is placement. According to the other colleges the placement of this college is not so good. If the college can give more placement then it will become a great college. Overall its a great college full of knowledge.

A calm and disciplined campus life at JIST

I chose JIST because of its balance between affordability, academic structure and accessibility compare to many private engineering colleges JIST offers a government aided set up with lower fee which was an important factor for me at the same time. It provides a stable academic environment with focused engineering curriculum, other reason was location JIST is situated in Jorhat, which is relatively well-connected and has a calm academic atmosphere compared to colleges in bigger cities. It has fewer distractions and allow students to focus more on studies. The faculty availability and small batch size also made the learning environment field, more approachable than some other colleges I considered....Read More
