Remarks

The college is good ofcourse, an institution of national importance. But it is located in remote area and that's why many companies don't prefer to do campus job placements. That's a negative aspect for us. The positive aspect is our College stands at 10th position among all NITs in terms of MHRD ranking over quality of life.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

The 100 marks of a subject is divided into number of exams and criterias. Out of which, 50 marks is the end semester examination, 30marks is mid semester examination, and 10 marks is a minor exam. All three of them conducted written and the rest 10 marks is based on teacher's own criterias of marking like attendance, class test, assignments and all. Ofcourse 75% attendance is mandatory to sit in any end semester examination.

College Events

4.5

Our annual Cultural Fest - Incandescence Our annual Technical Fest - Tecnoesis Our annual Spring Fest - Posua Apart from these a lot of extra curricular activities and events keep taking place in the campus at regular intervals and sometimes so many events in a single day.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is feasible. 15,500 Rupees for all Hostelers as Mess fees 8,500 Mandatory fees for everyone as the fees for hostel stuffs like water electricity bedding TV internet and all Apart from this the Tuition fees is something in which all SCs, STs and those having annual family income below 1 lakh, get 100% waiver, those having annual family income between 1-5 lakh get 30% waiver and above 5 lakhs 60% waiver. The fee structure for international students is a bit different.

Fees and Financial Aid

I don't have any information about the fact whether my college provides any scholarship or loan for students. Most probably it is a no because i never heard of something like this ever. May be it is there but i don't have any information regarding this. But few concessions like train fare for top pointers, or book discounts are there.

Campus Life

4

A lot of extracurricular activities keep happening in college, a lot of clubs are there as per your interest in some fields. Some of them are dramatics, literature, quiz, coding, robotics and a lot more. All the facilities for every kind of sport is present in NIT Silchar whether it is indoor or outdoor. We have interNIT sports competition in various sports like cricket football chess badminton khokho kabaddi and alot more Regarding Laboratories, we have a super computing centre in our College, and we'll maintained laboratories of every field

Hostel Facilities

3.5

I am currently in Hostel 9 of NIT Silchar. Hostels are good here, Infrastructure is pretty good provided with LAN facilities. Food is ok type, not so good not so bad. Every Sunday a feast in every hostel is there and every month once a grand feast. Mostly on last Sundays

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, they are very helpful, the Seniors (those who are currently studying in your college when you enter in your first year) are the first guides to you about college culture and rules and discipline and all. Guide you about technologies and stuffs like what one should study or persue what are the available fields of career. The Super Seniors ( one who passed out already when you entered your first year) are helpful in connecting you to HRs for internships and jobs. And the Alumni is helpful in funding for noble cause.

Admission

One have to give JEE mains to enter any NIT over the country. After that Counseling is done in which you are alloted your NIT and Branch as per your rank, home state and choice. The JEE exam consists of 3 subjects - Physics Chemistry Mathematics and based on 11th-12th standard syllabus.

Faculty

1.5

Few faculties are good, rest of them don't really know the art of teaching. To be honest most of the teachers and professors here are Doctorate but they don't know how to teach rather they know how to study which they did in their career. Most of ghe students are dependent on YouTube to study any topic they need to and just attend classes for that 75% attendance criteria. But few teachers are excellent and they teach the depth of the subject so easily that you would love to study that subject over and over again.

This is an integrated course where i will be getting a masters degree after completing 5 years. Only tezpur university provides this course other than GU. The curriculum prepares students mainly to pursue careers in academic fields and research fields. More practical aspects can be added to provide a holistic knowledge to the students. The exams are very well planed.

I choose this course i.e. department of Botany because the department ensuring a strong theoretical foundations along with the practical experience. The course prepares well for students as the acedemic results is always good which will make gratutides well equipped for jobs. Some sections of the course should be updated to meet the latest technology, more guests lectures and the interships should be provided to the students. The exams clustering of multiple exams should be within times which relases unneccsary stress, the exams are conducted easy to insane which is very challenging for the students.
