College of Engineering Adoor Pathanamthitta, B.Tech, Mechanical Engineering

Reviewed on Nov 19, 2019

Remarks

Nothing to say negative. One and only negative thing is that college is having 2 buildings. But that is not at all a big issue.Infrastructures are good but the building is a bit away from Adoor town(about 2 km).College hostel is not in the same campus but a bit away from campus

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course has 8 semesters in which the first 2 semesters you will study the basics of engineering concepts. From the 2nd year onwards you will study the core courses like thermal, strength of materials, machine design etc

Placement Experience

4.5

Job opportunities are very much good.Last year about 50 percent of students got placements.Internship facilitues are there under the ihrd management. It will be a great exposure for students.Internships are very much good

College Events

The main event in the college is Aaroh, the annual techno cultural fest which will be hosted by the college union every year in the even semester. Along with that we have annual arts, sports, games etc.Other events are holi celebration, onam celebration etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It is feasible.35000 per year is the fees for btech course. Since this college is under Ihrd and having good lab and teaching facilities , this fees is not that much big deal and is feasible. And you will get scholarship of 25000 from mcms scheme by Govt of India if you are eligible

Fees and Financial Aid

At present there is no loan scheme available from the college. But under the mcms scheme by Govt of India you will get 25000 per year of you are a day scholar and 30000 if you are a hosteller.Along with these you will be availing bank loan from nearest banks

Campus Life

This college is giving very much importance for extra carricular activities. It is having a good facility for football, badminton, volleyball, basletball etc.along with these a good gym is there in college building itself

Alumni/Alumna

A very strong alumni network is there. Many of our alumnis are in good positions and playing major roles in leading mncs and they are very much helpful. Some of our alumins are working in IITs also as professors.

Admission

Write the engineering entrance exam conducted by entrance commissioner of kerala. You must get a good score in the entrance exam.Get a rank below 9000 and submit options of colleges and will be in the merit rank list

Faculty

4.5

Good faculties having abundant knowledge in their respective subjects.most of the faculties are having doctorate in their specialisations. They will teach the concepts in that much deeper perspective so that you will gain a complete knowledge on the topics

All the teachers are well qualified and equipped to teach but the quality of teaching differs as per individual.

Dislikes

The say of students in matters concerning them or others is nil. We have very little say as the management takes all decisons.
Teachers have ego and superiority issues between themselves which might affect the children in 4th year, project phases.
Fests, events and functions are not upto any expectations.Schools in trivandrum have better events than our college.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible from 7th semester to sit for interviews. The pod.ai app helps us in making the resume and calculating a cgpa to appear for the intwrviews. The pod.ai registration fees is 500?. Companies such as nissan, infosys, commandtech, bimlabs, gulfasia etc has visited . And the highest package was 11 LPA and lowest was 3 LPA

TIST , Great college , fun events and more

Likes

Our seniors passed out with flying colors joining different companies or starting their own. There's a good focus on peer learning and student communities which is pretty nice. Canteen food is decent and labs are great
Most people and professors are friendly and they encourage you to try out new things.

Dislikes

Hostel water , busses are pretty fast. Sometimes roads are a bitt rough

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

I feel like staffs in my department are pretty good, atleast they fullfill their duties to cover the portions in right time
We have placements training, offered free of cost by college itself
Notes and necessary materials for studying are provided from college itself, and most teachers don't force on buying textbooks or other materials

Dislikes

College is located in aarakunnam, which is a bit remote area hence for various needs we often need to travel a few kilometres even for basic necessities
The road to collage entrance is a steep road, and currently it's under construction (it's been a yr)
Students are required to park their vehicles outside the college, as there is no parking facilities for students inside campus

Placement Experience:

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA

An Overview of My College

I had applied to colleges under IHRD which includes the Model Engineering College, College of Engineering Chengannur and College of Engineering Attingal (CEAL) and College of Engineering Adoor. When the results of the first allotment came out, I got into CEAL. I temporarily got admission into that college and waited for the next allotment. I got into the college of Engineering Adoor in the second allotment and I took admission permanently since it was nearer to my place and I also got affordable hostel facilities. Also, there were good and on-time public transport services available. I got into the BTech Computer Science stream in the Merit Quota. To get admission in the first or second allotments themselves, you need a valid Keam score and rank anywhere between 15000 and 25000 atleast. You will be able to get into the merit quota with a good rank if not getting into the management quota is also easy. The faculties and student volunteers assisted me and my parents on the counselling day....Read More
