Course Curriculum Overview

4

There should be more practical and real world based curiculum whhich musch focuses on the latest technologies or tools . There should be highly skilled tecahers who not anly have theortical but must have practical knowledge also . From satrting , I have a liking towrds the technology and figuiring out that how things in our day to day life works that made me choose Computer Science Engineering as my course . There must be more practical teaching rather than only theoritical. Talking about the exams schedules , I ll say they are well organised and there is a good amount of time between the two exams which makes it easy for the student and the difficulty level is also moderate , easily every student can pass the exams . The things teacher could improove in their teachings is that many of them just only tech throught the ppts or the books they must have to go bryond the given books , have the quality to make the students visualize and understand the hard algorithms or topics .

Placement Experience

In Chandigarh University you are being elligible to sit in the placement from the end of the 6th semester . A large no. of companies visit the unversity daily for all type of departments talking about my department , companies like Zopasmart , JTG , EY , JP Morgan , TCS , Cognizant , Deloite and many other companies came for the college comapnies with ann average comapny selected upto 10 -12 students . Till now the highest package offered is 37 LPA for the role of software developer . Talking about the no. of students placed from the total students in the batch i would say less then 30% percent of the total students have been placed from the university campus placements till now . Curently i am also focusing on the campus placements to get a start to know more about the corporate world , If i am unable to get a campus placement the i ll go for offline interviews and spends 4 to 5 years in the field after that i ll start my own buisness .

Fees and Financial Aid

Our university provide the benifits of scolarship which one can avail by giving the CUCET test and according to number of marks obtained you will get a certain amount of compensation nbut for that you have to maintain an agreegate cgpa of 7.5 or above in all the academics . If someone fails to maintain that scolarship got removed and a sum of 1,06000 is to be paid per semester, year consist of two semesters. In my case i have given the cucet and i was able to gain a scolarship of 15%, I visited my University and there had a counselling session where the counsellor advised me to avail my scolarship of defence which also consist of 15 % but it was applicable for the full duration of the course and there is no need to maintain any kind of CGPA for that , So every semester i had paid around 95000, as tution fee and 2500 as examination fee. The other way to get a scolarship is based on the result of the JEE . If someone got a good percenticle in JEE they are being provided the scolarship upto 50% depending upon their JEE score. One of my friends got 98 percentile in JEE and she had to anly pay 65000 as her tution fee , but had to maintain aggregate of 7.5 or above cgpa through out her degree. Apart from that there are fecilities like loan and if someone is from sports quota they can even have full scolarship upto 100% .

Campus Life

4

My overall experience with Chandigarh University is satisfactional as the university has provided all the facilities which they had promised . Healthy enviroment , Good infrastructure , job opportunities , exposure and events . In our University there are events held on atmost every month , recently our univeristy has organised the AI fest which in which new a lot of big techies were invited and new technologies were intoduced with the students , apart from the night show which include big artists who made the enviroment energetic with their music and performances . The campus boasts more than 300 labs across disciplines such as computer science , biotechnology , etc . Beyond classrooms and albs university also provides auditoriums , seminar halls , and conference venue for workshops , guest lectures,, TEDx events and exposure to industry insights . The Library offeres Book Bank facilities for the economically weaker students , along with that every student had a library card which they can use to borrow any book from the library . These resources are integrated with rfid teechnology . In Chandigarh University there are further sports availbilities for the students with in the university , frequent sports competitions and events take place on frequent bassis . There are multiple social groups and clubs are being made in the University by the students i myself was a part of orators club in the university where i had participated in multiple events ranging from the block level to the university level .

Admission

I had given the exam of CUET for the Delhi University but i was not able to clear the cutoff meanwhile the same time Chandigarh University approached me , I got multiple calls from the University and i have some of my peers studying in the same University so , I decided to discuss it with my parents and they also agreed to send me to Chandigarh University . While I completed my 12 th after that I was preparing for JEE and my focus was to clear JEE examination at the same time my friends told me to fill the form for the CUET exam so ,I filled that , but didn't had a good result as I was not much interested in going to that University . I my University the admission process is very simple if you are a new comer you have to apply for the admission form and then a CUCET test is then fiinalzed on a date you have to give the exam for availing the scolarship , if you don't want to that you can directly visit the university and there they will initiate all the process . For admission in a Btech in computer science you must 65 % or higher in your 12 th and you must havve opted non med in your 12 th . The overall admission process is very smooth as it take merely half an hour to register and there is also no need to give the full amount of money at once you can pay the fee in part payments . University also allows the students and their parents to first visit the university have a look and then decide what they wanted to do .

Faculty

4

As there are different type of people simillarly there are different types of faculty . The faculty to student ratio if Good . And some of the faculties are so much friendly and supporting that it is very easy to make a good student relationsip with them . Some of the faculty i would like to name is Miss. Sukhpreet mam , she used to have our communication skills lectures in my 1 st semester and i would say she was the best person one must get in their begining of the University . If I had to describe i would say there is a 80: 20 ratio where 80% of the facuties are nice and good with students . The other 20 consists of the faculties having age >=40 . The more the senior faculties they have a different attitude and try to be very dominant with students as they say they don't have any fear of the organization. If I had to name such a faculty i would name Ankita mam . Talking about my academics , I would say there are a lot of subjects in our curiccullum which has no relevance with our corse they are being introduced to nothing . Some of them we had to do from online pplatforms such as coursera . The level of Examination is moderate they not that hard and most of times the questions are asked from the syllabus only . The examinations consists of 2 MST , MST 1 of 20 marks and MST 2 of 20 Marks and a final Exam consisting of 80 marks . I would the level of checking the sheets is very lenient and maximum of the students pass the exams easily .

Interview Experience

4

Yes during my interview in a company named JARO the first round of interview was a group discussion in which my topic of discussion was , Is Banning Cigerates is good or bad if it is bad provide points to support your anwser . As this topic was based on the recent parliament billl which was introducd by the goverment in which the goverment is going to increase the rates of the items . It was a non tech company and so I was neither much interested in this comapny , moreover maximum of the companies have the same pattern of placement drive . The first round consist of a ppt round , it can be help online or offline in campus in which the spokesperson from the company describes about the merits of the company and they explains about the pay scale and no. of working days and what kind of work they are expecting from us . The second round consist of an online tech test which consists of mutiple choice quesions from DSA or any prefered language and 2 coding questions whihch one have to do within a required time , further the qualified students go through the mutiple rounds of face to face interviews . I prepare for these rounds by clearing my basics and gathering information about all the essentials needed for the comapny and also try to gain information through internet about the recent or frequently asked questions by this company .

Night Life

5

In university campus there is an availablity of the GYM , as well as mutiple food options in the food counters and cafeterias .After the classes a lot of students spend their time in the parks and gardens having chats with their friends and playing games . Within the hostel multiple facilities like gym , saloon , and confectionaries are provided with in the hostel . The timing of the hostel gate closing for girls is arounf 7:30 to 8 : 00 pm where as for the boys it is around :30 to 9:00 pm . Some of the famous places in my University si the fountain park where students have a break from there classes and they play and have chat there apart fromt that we do have a nescafe for the gatherings . Apart fromt that there is food republic which is a nice hanging out point as it consist of a lot of food items and the corner cafe . All these places are such a vibe and also provide some of tasiest meals one have ever had .

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
