Course Curriculum Overview

4

I choose this course, due to the versatile aspect of the syllabus. And what I saw in the course was some high level and attracting topics that I wanted to study, like dynamic programming, machine learning, artificial intelligence. These are high paying jobs in the real world, and hence this curriculum prepares us for the real world jobs. There are many areas of improvements in the course curriculum, like the syllabus could be well defined and slowly taught instead of being rushed through the semester. The teachers should be well knowledgeble about the Course Curriculum. During the Mid Semester Exams more time could be provided to prepare for the exams instead of taking multiple exams on a single day. Sufficient Time is provided to prepare for exams in the EST.

Internships Opportunities

4

Local Companies in chandigarh and nearby area offer internship to students studying at CU. These are low level roles with stipend paying from 7k to 12k per month. Most of the students are given paid internships from the university, internship exposure is really less. A student has to self apply to get internship and have to work on his personal skill development to get high level internships with high stipends. Internships start from the 3rd Year.

Placement Experience

3

From the 6th semester students become eligible for campus placements, Several companies like amazon, microsoft, tcs, infosys etc. visit the campus for placements, highest package is 70-80LPA last year, and high level profiles are offered to good candidates, You need to be really good in academics to sit in placements, otherwise university wont allow you to sit in campus placements.60-70% students get the placements, My plan is to appear for civil services after getting the degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

Every Year I am paying Rs. - 160000 as semester fees every year Rs. 4000 as Exam Fees every year Rs. 120000 as Hostel Fees for the whole year The scholarship is provided based on the exam called CUCET, I got 50% scholarship, you have to maintain 7.5 SGPA every semester to resume the scholarship. The fees is increasing everyyear, Now the fees for my course (BE CSE AI/ML) is Rs.195000 as of 2025. And Hostel Fees has increased to Rs.135000. Scholarship is also provided on basis on merit.

Campus Life

5

Multiple festivals are held in the university, after every 1.5 months there is some kind of tech fest or annual fest. A large variety of books are availaible in the library for reading and also availaible online. Projectors are used for teaching in the classrooms using PPTS. A large sports complex is situated near the university which offers almost every kind of sport you are interested in. Around 100+ clubs are availaible in the university in which you could participate, and also Arts and culture department is very active in maintaining these clubs. Social Life is really entertaining and enjoying.

Hostel Facilities

1

In a 4-Seater Non - AC room, you are given a almirah, a bed, a table, ethernet port. Mess quality is really bad, very unhygenic and insects have been found in food several time, Hostel is not at all affordable it has high fees and the service is really bad. In the hostel you are given tuck shops, gym and paid laundry facilities.

Admission

I applied to multiple colleges like SRM Chennai, VIT vellore, and Lovely Professional University(LPU). I got confirmed admisison from all of them. I choose this university cause of the low fees and it is near to the place where I live. I appeared for the JEE exams, and due to my low score was not able to make it through in any of the Tier-1 colleges, The admission process is really easy, Appear for the CUCET examination and you get scholarship based on your score, qualifying criteria is 60% in boards examination. If you have high scores in JEE, CUET-UG, or Board examinations you get direct admission in the university.

Faculty

3

There are multiple sections for a batch, There are 75 students in one section, and one section is divided into 2 groups of 30-35 students each. There are two types of classes, lecture based and practical based, the lecture based class is held together for all 75 students and the practical based class is held for each group of 35 students. I have liked many of my teachers in the 3rd and 4th semester as they were knowledgeble about there subjects so it was really fun to learn the subjects, some of the teachers were really bad they didnt even knew what was the syllabus, and didnt even knew how to pronounce words in english properly. The level of english the teachers are speaking is really bad they dont know how to speak. This is the major problem here for international students as they cant understand a single word due to the indian accent. The exams are divided into 3 parts, There are two MST(Mid Semester Tests) and one EST(End Semester Test). The MST carry a low weightage(around 20%-30%) while the EST examination carries high weightage(60%-70%). The EST are difficult to score in, and most of the students fail in the EST. The MST are really easy to solve and no one fails in those exams. The exam is relevant to the Syllabus taught in the class.

Interview Experience

5

No There are No Interview or Group Discussions, There is only one test named - CUCET which every student has to give online. After qualifying the paper, the student is given scholarship based on his/her score.

Night Life

1

There is no Night Life in the college, Girls hostel gates close at 8 pm, boys hostel gates close at 9 pm. You could only roam inside the hostel mini campus, where there are small food shops. Famous hangout places would be, D6 Library, Fountain Park, VR Punjab Mall. Locality is safe to roam around as the campus is gated and there are high amount of guards.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

Students generally become eligible for placement from 7th semester, with numerous major companies like wipro, cognizant and various tech startups visit the campus with various offers. The university sees a high percentage of students getting placed. The package are widely depending on various skill and codes. Furthermore while the highest package looks impressive on paper, the avg package remains modest for the majority of the batch. My personal plans after getting the degree focus on exploring independent entrepreneurial ventures rather than tradition corporate placement.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
