- Infrastructure- The infrastructure of the university is good, and the mass communication studio is well equipped and accessible to students
Dislikes
- Timings- The university timings are from 9:30-4:45, which is quite a long day
- Location- The university's location is slightly problematic as the surrounding area is not that safe
- Crowd- Being a private university, the crowd at Amity is sometimes toxic
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum of my course is relevant to the current industry trends and needs, and helps in preparing students for the ever evolving world of media education. Students are exposed to lot of activities, beyond academics to give them practical exposure and hands on learning experience.
Internships Opportunities
A lot of companies and roles are offered to students for internships with decent stipend as well. I also got my summer internsjip opportunity from the university also, where I worked as a content writer and had a good exposure to corporate life and great working environment.
Placement Experience
The corporate resource center (CRC) at Amity provides great assistance for internships and placements, however, it depends on an individuals skill set and abilities what sort of job/role/company they are placed in. The average package offered to a pass out of MJMC is 4.5 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The duration of the course (MJMC) is 2 years, and fee per year without any reservation and scholarship is 2.34 lakhs, which mildly increases every semester. The fee covers academic fees, registration charges, security deposit and other applicable fees.
Campus Life
Amifest is Amity's annual fest usually held in jan-feb. It is a 2 day event/fest that offers a great exposure to student, with various institutional activities, club events, competitions, activities, rides, stalls and star night as well. Apart from this, there is Jalsa, i.e the Garba night organised by the dramatic and dance society, during navratri. There are other activities and events as well, organised by insitutions and clubs.
Admission
I applied to universities out of India, but due to some family and health reasons, couldn't make it there. I wanted to stay in Delhi NCR only and that's why chose this university. Amity is a well known name amongst the top private institutions in India, and choosing is turned out to be great decision for me, and a turning point as well. The admission process is easy, as it is a private university, but demand perseverance and resilience of students to stay focused and inclined towards their goals.
Faculty
According to my own experience, the faculty to student relationship is very good. Though all the faculties in my department are good, but my mentor- Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Rana stands out. She's undoubtedly one of the finest people I've ever come across. Apart from her, Dr. Manoj Kumar, Dr. Rusha Mudgal and Prof. (Dr.) Esha Jainiti are all very very supportive and are always there for students. There are 2 mid term/sessionals conducted, along with an end-sem/final exam. The exams aren't hard, but journalism and mass comm is a field that requires students to apply analytical and critical thinking.
Night Life
Since I'm a day scholar I don't know much about the night life at Amity, but based on what I've heard is that the hostel timings are till 9:30 p.m and no cafeteria or place in the univeristy is accessible afterwards. Also, the wardens are very strict about the timings, for student safety and well being.
