Aston University Acceptance Rate 2027
Aston University does not officially publish a global acceptance rate. The overall admit rate for international applications sits at approximately 68% (estimated), based on third-party enrolment data. Aston Business School flagship programmes such as MSc Finance and MBA admit selectively, closer to 50% (estimated).
Aston operates a rolling review process and communicates decisions within 4 to 6 weeks of a completed application. Programmes with capped cohorts (MBA, MSc Finance, Data Science) fill their international seats by mid-summer for the September intake.
Reality check: An estimated 68% acceptance rate means most Indian applicants meeting the published Class 12 or bachelor’s threshold receive an offer, provided the English test is submitted with the application. Waiver-only submissions add 2 to 3 weeks to the decision timeline.

Aston University vs Peer Universities
Aston sits in a competitive band of mid-tier UK research universities that Indian applicants also consider for business, engineering and STEM masters. The comparison below uses QS World 2027 and Aston’s own fee bands as anchors.
| University | QS World 2027 | Avg Annual PG Fee (GBP) | Avg Annual PG Fee (INR lakh) | Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aston University | #416 | GBP 23,500 to 31,500 | 30.7 to 41.2 lakh | Triple-accredited Aston Business School; UK’s largest sandwich placement scheme |
| University of Leicester | Not verified this session | GBP 24,000 (estimated) | 31.4 lakh (estimated) | Space research and criminology strengths |
| Loughborough University | Not verified this session | GBP 27,500 (estimated) | 35.9 lakh (estimated) | Engineering, sports science and design |
| University of Reading | Not verified this session | GBP 26,000 (estimated) | 34.0 lakh (estimated) | Henley Business School (triple-accredited) |
| Nottingham Trent University | Not verified this session | GBP 18,500 (estimated) | 24.2 lakh (estimated) | Lower fee band; large international cohort |
Peer QS positions not verified in this session; check each university’s official page.
Aston stands out for triple-accredited Business School status paired with a mid-band tuition, a rare combination in UK universities within the QS 300 to 500 range. The Financial Times Top 20 Online MBA placement is a further differentiator.
Aston University suits Indian applicants targeting a triple-accredited UK business school without the fee load of Russell Group entry (Warwick, Manchester, Birmingham). A total investment of GBP 41.4 to 45.5 lakh (INR 54 to 59 lakh) against a UK market median MSc Finance salary near INR 41.8 lakh delivers first-year payback within 15 to 18 months on the Graduate Route visa.
Aston is not the right choice for applicants who need the QS Top 200 employer signal for consulting or investment banking (consider University of Warwick or University of Manchester), or for those whose target is pure research reputation (consider University of Nottingham or University of Sheffield).
Aston University FAQs
Ques. Does Aston University require GRE or GMAT for MSc admission?
Ans. No. Aston Business School does not mandate GRE or GMAT for any of its MSc programmes, including MSc Finance, MSc Business Analytics and MSc Marketing Management. A quantitatively strong bachelor’s transcript with 60% or CGPA 6.0/10 (UK 2:1 equivalent) is sufficient. Ques. How can Indian applicants waive the IELTS requirement at Aston University?
Ans. Aston University waives IELTS for Indian applicants who scored 75% or higher in English in Class 12 (CBSE, ICSE, or State Board), which is treated as equivalent to IELTS 6.5 for CBSE/ICSE and IELTS 6.0 for State Board. Graduates from Tier 1 Indian universities (IITs, NITs, top central universities) also qualify with an official Medium of Instruction letter confirming English-taught delivery.
Ques. Can Indian students work part-time while studying at Aston University?
Ans. Yes. Indian students on a UK Student visa can work up to 20 hours per week during term and full-time during official vacation periods. Off-campus retail and hospitality roles are common in central Birmingham within a 15 minute walk of campus.
Ques. What documents are needed for Aston University WES verification?
Ans. Aston University uses eVetter and does not mandate WES for Indian applicants, though WES-verified transcripts are accepted. Required documents include Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets, bachelor’s degree consolidated marksheet and provisional or degree certificate, all attested by the issuing university. Uploaded scans in colour are usually sufficient at the offer stage; originals are verified only at enrolment. Start the process 4 to 6 weeks before the application deadline.
Ques. Does Aston University charge an application fee for Indian applicants?
Ans. Aston University does not charge an application fee for postgraduate taught programmes. There is no application fee for the MBA, MSc Business Analytics, MSc Finance or MSc Computer Science. The MRes and PhD applications are also free. A GBP 2,000 (INR 26,140) tuition deposit is required to accept an offer, which counts towards the total tuition fee. This is refundable only in case of visa refusal with supporting documents.

Ans. Aston University is recognised for education loans by SBI, HDFC Credila, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Bank of Baroda and Avanse. Ques. What are the visa financial proof requirements for Aston University Indian applicants?
Ans. Aston University issues a CAS after fee deposit and financial verification. Funds must be held in the applicant’s or immediate family’s account for a consecutive 28 days before the visa application. Education loan sanction letters are accepted from listed lenders.
Ques. Can dependents accompany Indian students on the Aston University Student visa?
Ans. Standard taught masters (MSc, MBA) no longer permit dependents under UK visa rules effective from January 2024. - I love how its in the heart of Birmingham. And everything was so easy+convenient.
Campus Life
- One word- you will have the time of your life on campus. It's the best.
Fees
- The tuition fees for the program were approximately £17050 GBP in 2022 for the full course duration, depending on the intake year and scholarship availability.
- Students should also account for additional living expenses, including accommodation, transportation, food, and personal expenses, while planning finances.
Likes
- Infrastructure - it has a very nice infrastructure and classrooms are so nice
- Top faculty - factual is top notch and is very interactive with students take good care of them and their pressure
- Student friendly - all students interact nicely with each other because of the collaborative activities which college does
Dislikes
- More events should be there
- The only think i would add is that in between of the course there are very few events and if the events they have in start and end are there in btw as well it would be great
Campus Life
- One campus only, Christmas event Astonbury where all the artist come to perform and many more events i cant think off , was full of events; karaoke happened every friday , it was a very nice place to be in.
- A lot of activities like running padel tennis foodball , online games, happened – each and every event possible happened you can play any sport and participate in any sport
Fees
- So my course has a fee of 23500 pounds, out of which i got 6000 pounds scholarship for early acceptance and merit in class 12th, so 17500 and I took hostel william murdoch which was 8000 pounds for 1 year , i had monthly expenses of 200 pounds only, as I used to go out once a week, but people who don't cook food have 600-700 pounds.
- So you pay 4000 pounds before you go, then 4000 pounds after you reach and 4000 pounds again after 6 months, so basically it's a 3-installment process at aston.
Likes
- Course Curriculum - The curriculum is very detailed and updated. They teach and cover every aspect of your specialization.
- Professors - All the professors are very well qualified.
- Digitialization - Everything is Digitalized here. From booking an appointment with your professor to viewing your class time table, course material and even your attendance - they have software for everything.
Dislikes
- University Life - The university is right in the centre yet, it lacks to give you a university life unlike big universities such as UOB but thats not a problem because most of the universities doesnt here.
- International exposure - A big NO. I had 100% Asians in my class which includes 70% Indian and Pakistanis along with 20% from South Asia like Vietnam, Taiwan and China and 10% from Nigeria and Jamaica. But, UG programmes do have lots of Britts studying.
- Limited numbers of classes - I only had 12 class for each subject in 3 months which literally disappointed me that daid - 1 class in 1 week for 1 subject. So, if i have 4 subjects in 1 semester - i will only be having 4 classes in 1 week. Then, you are free for rest of the week.
Campus Life
- My university has 2 campuses – 1 in Birmingham and a recently opened 1 in London.
- We have all the facilities – library, sports centre with a monthly subscription of £20, student union for students to engage in any clubs or societies
- One of the major festival that took place on campus is Astonbury which is organized in the month of june (every year)
- We do have lots of extracurricular activities in the sense that there are lots of clubs and societies that keep on doing some or the other things.
- The best part is you get lots of freebies whenever there is any event like Career fest or clubs and societies week.

Campus Life
The college has one campus which is in Birmingham near the city centre. The campus has a sports facility which is well maintained and available to use for the university students along with a huge library which is available to use for studying, using computers and also for team meetings.
Likes
- Aston University’s collaborations with various industries are very strong and allow students to get job and internship opportunities.
- Students are also able to enjoy receiving professional feedback on their submission, as well as learning in the field from skilled practitioners making the academic experience more rich and practical.
- Students have sufficiently stocked libraries, among other learning facilities.
Dislikes
- Accommodations near the university or on campus might be costly and could pose a problem for foreign students. This may in turn push students either to cover a longer distance or incur a higher cost of living.
- Upon registering for the MSc Computer Science program, you noticed that elective modules such as AI, Machine Learning, Web Development, and System Design were quite few.
Campus Life
- Aston University operates a single main campus in Birmingham, equipped with facilities like a library, sports arena, and medical services.
- Key events include Aston Fest, where I took part in the reformation of the Malayali Cultural Society. We performed a cultural dance at Aston Fest 2023, celebrating diversity.
- Aston also offers various sports and student clubs, enhancing campus life with diverse extracurricular opportunities.
Fees
- The tuition fee for my MSc program at Aston University was set at £19,750, with a flexible option to pay in three installments, corresponding to each semester.
- My estimated monthly expenses, which cover essentials such as hostel accommodation, food, travel, internet, and mobile, amount to approximately £650, although this may vary depending on my spending patterns each month.

Dislikes
- The course was really difficult and the assignments were an ordeal to complete, It's an accomplishment to clear all the modules in 1 single go.
Overview
Overall experience was excellent. Had a tonne of stuff to learn. I chose this University coz its Computer Science department was among the highest-ranked in the UK. And the city was amazing.
Campus Life
The library with 3 stories with lots of studying space and provisions to borrow laptops or work on different PCs. Multiple floors had provisions for silent study where you could really concentrate and study for whatever you want and till late hours(6 am to 11 pm). Aston Student Union organised several events for the students and many interactive sessions to make them comfortable around the campus. The city centre was a 10-minute walk from the campus and the student accommodation so everything was made really convenient.
Likes
- Well known University with better fees and better course. The best part was that under a module I could convert my part time as a full time.
- Infrastructure, Library and the opportunity to convert the part time into full time. Also, there was dedicated team to review the resume and guide people in the job search.
Dislikes
- There was nothing as such to dislike but to mention I would say the food, since I struggled a lot being a vegetarian in the campus and not having much of the options.
Overview
It was good. I loved the amount of time I spent there and the experience I have got which is helping me now in the current role as well.
Campus Life
The campus has many different buildings with highly maintained equipment. One of the buildings is made so good that it gives the feeling as if you're walking in the lobby of some big company and has a great space for every individual to sit and spend their time while studying or even working.
Overview
I chose this program because I have always had an interest in photonics and wanted to further enhance my knowledge.
Fees
The fee is probably around £16000/yr.
Overview
I liked the course and the program in Artificial Intelligence as the course modules are better than many top-ranked colleges in the UK, and there are a lot of interactive lectures, and guest lectures from industry professionals on topics that are not covered in our teaching modules. So this covers most of the aspects of AI and also Aston University is in the city center of Birmingham, 2nd largest city in the UK, with lots of new opportunities developing around here, and some Big 4 companies and IT companies shifting to Birmingham.
Fees
GBP 21000 + additional for 10-month placement assistance where the university can provide an extended visa for 10 months.
