University of Exeter UG Requirements for Indian Applicants
- Class 12 academic: 80% (CBSE/ICSE), 85% (most state boards) or 70% (West Bengal board)
- English language: Same Profile B2 minimums as PG; Class 12 English at 70% may waive the test
Key insight: Exeter accepts a formal Medium of Instruction letter from your Indian institution as English waiver, avoiding an IELTS booking. Prospective Indian applicants should also review the study in UK visa timeline.
University of Exeter Acceptance Rate 2027
The University of Exeter does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party offer-versus-applicant tracking places the overall rate at 70-80% (estimated), with undergraduate near 87% (estimated) and postgraduate near 75% (estimated). These figures come from aggregate offer trackers rather than official admissions statistics, so treat them as directional only.
The wide band reflects the mix of open-recruiting humanities programmes and more selective medicine, law and MSc Finance seats. Indian applicants meeting the academic minimums and English bar generally see high offer rates for taught masters outside medicine.
Reality check: Meeting the 60% bachelor’s bar puts Indian applicants inside the offer zone for most masters; MSc Finance and MBA still filter on relevance and work experience.

Exeter’s edge for Indian students is the automatic country scholarship and small-city cost of living, both of which cut the two-year investment materially. Bristol and Southampton edge ahead on world rank but not on India-specific funding.
The University of Exeter suits Indian applicants who want a top-150 Russell Group degree without London prices, with automatic India scholarships closing part of the funding gap. First-year total investment sits near ₹46 Lakh, competitive against UK market medians near ₹34 Lakh for entry PG salaries and stronger for Business School roles. The two-year UK Graduate Route visa adds a clear post-study runway.
Exeter is a weaker fit for applicants prioritising engineering research depth, city-scale internship density or a large Indian diaspora on campus. Applicants with those needs should compare against the University of Manchester or Warwick before committing.
University of Exeter FAQs
Ques. What documents do Indian applicants need for postgraduate admission at the University of Exeter?
Ans. Indian PG applicants submit bachelor’s transcripts and degree certificate, a CV, a personal statement of 500 words, two academic references, valid passport and either an IELTS or TOEFL score or a Medium of Instruction letter. MBA applicants add three years of work experience proof. There is no PG application fee. The direct SRS portal handles submission and status tracking.
Ques. How does the MOI waiver work at the University of Exeter for Indian students?
Ans. Exeter accepts a formal Medium of Instruction letter from an Indian institution confirming both English medium teaching and English medium examination for the bachelor’s degree. The letter must be on institutional letterhead, signed by a senior academic authority, and dated within 24 months of application. This waives the IELTS or TOEFL requirement for taught PG entry across most programmes.
Ques. Can Indian graduates work in the UK after finishing at Exeter University?
Ans. Yes. Exeter graduates qualify for the UK Graduate Route visa, giving two years of full-time work rights for UG and taught PG completers and three years for PhD completers. No employer sponsorship is required during this window. Applicants must apply from within the UK before their student visa expires and complete the degree in-person at Exeter to remain eligible.
Ques. Does the University of Exeter require GMAT or GRE for its MSc Finance?
Ans. Exeter University does not mandate GMAT or GRE for MSc Finance, MSc Finance and Investment, or MSc Business Analytics for Indian applicants. A strong bachelor’s degree in a quantitative subject at 60% or above is the primary academic hurdle. GMAT scores of 650 plus can strengthen borderline applications but are not a listed requirement on the official course pages.
Ques. What education loan providers work with the University of Exeter for Indian students?
Ans. Exeter appears on the approved lists of major Indian education lenders including HDFC Credila, Avanse, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and State Bank of India for both collateral and non-collateral loans up to ₹75 Lakh. International lenders like Prodigy Finance and MPOWER also fund Exeter PG students. Interest rates range 9.5% to 13.5%. Confirm current terms directly with each lender.
Ques. Does the University of Exeter offer a January intake for Indian postgraduate students?
Ans. Yes, Exeter operates a January mid-year intake for selected taught masters programmes, primarily in Business School and Humanities. Programme availability is confirmed on the individual course page each cycle. The next January intake opens for entry in January 2027, with rolling review starting September 2026. Not all masters admit in January, so applicants should verify programme-level availability before deposit.
Ques. Is a conditional offer common for Indian applicants at Exeter University?
Ans. Yes. Most Indian applicants receive conditional offers pending final semester transcripts, degree certificate, or a compliant English score. Conditions convert to unconditional once Exeter verifies the documents. Meeting all conditions before the CAS deadline is essential for visa processing. Exeter typically requires condition clearance six weeks before programme start for smooth CAS issuance.
Ques. How long does WES or transcript verification take for Exeter University applications?
Ans. Exeter does not mandate WES for Indian applications but accepts transcripts directly from Indian institutions. Applicants should factor four to six weeks for institutional transcript issuance and apostille from MEA. WES course-by-course reports take three to four weeks after document receipt. Apply for both processes at least three months before your target PG deadline to avoid decision delays.

It offers over 300 student clubs and societies covering sports, culture, volunteering, academic interests, music, and entrepreneurship, along with numerous events, workshops, and extracurricular activities throughout the year. - Faculty is top notch
- Very diverse culture, truly International experience.
- University dorms are clean, safe
Dislikes
- Not many on campus career fairs
- Accommodation rents are unfairly high when compared with the duration students stay.
Campus Life
- There are many clubs, for example Indian community club, every year. One can contest in the election if one wants to be a chairman. There will be many campus celebrations as well, like Diwali, Halloween, Christmas, etc.
Fees
- For the MSc International Business in 2021, the tuition fees were £21,000 for 1 year program. Accommodation and living expenses would vary depending on the lifestyle and the dorms students choose. If a student wants to live in a shared space, then around 8-9k GBP would be enough for a year.

Campus Life
- Everything is good. However, you struggle to find time between your studies, part-time and social life. Managing everything in a balanced way is the key.

- Before I delve into what I personally liked and disliked as a student of History it is important to understand that people from different streams have different experiences at the University.
- The faculty was very approachable and kind and they truly enriched my learning experience at the university.
Dislikes
- The diversity was quite limited in my department but at no point did I feel that I did not belong there and the faculty often went an extra mile to help me feel more included. There are a lot of extra curricular activities to do there and you will be spoilt for options.
Campus Life
- It was very inclusive and diverse. There is a sports centre and the library is open 24/7, which was the best part about the university.
Fees
- It has changed now, and depends on the course, I was offered a scholarship of 8k pounds.
Likes
- Career Zone & Guidance: The university has a great career zone situated in a separate building wherein there are readily available mentors, CV review, Interview prep courses etc.
- Academic Curriculum: The curriculum was just right and perfect to balance out a MSc student’s life with a perfect blend of theory and practical assignments. Assignments are super heavy and more in number making the topic easy to understand
- Societies & Events: There are more than 13+ societies to participate with no cap! Each of them holding amazing events, programs especially for international students- a great way to network and make friends. Another great thing was the variety of societies and not just sticking to a single niche.
Dislikes
- Transport: As the university is on a hilltop, it becomes difficult to travel back and fro to the city. There is a bus option but can be inconvenient at times.
Campus Life
- It was the best campus experience at the University of Exeter. It was full of energy and warmth. There used to be always some or the other cultural festivals organized and also there used to be musical nights .
- There also used to be charity events. There were creative clubs organized and it was very easy to get into them for academics or just for fun . The Student’s Guild did an amazing job of bringing all the students together in a good way and it was best for meeting people from all over the world and also they made us feel a part of the community.
Fees
- The tuition was 28000GBP for the entire course, out of which I received flat 5000GBP scholarship, accommodation took another 11000GBP but it depends and fluctuates on the type of accommodation.
- The university gives an option for all 3 mentioned options.
- Monthly expenses can again vary from individual to individual- 900GBP
- Breakdown- Rent- 600GBP, Transportation- 60GBP, Food- 120-150GBP, Miscellaneous- 100-150GBP
