The University of Surrey saw an enrollment of over 17,000 students out of which13,604 were undergraduate students and 2,863 were graduate students in the 2019-20 academic session. 35% of the total enrolment was of international students from more than 140 countries making the university, one of the most chosen universities to study in the UK. The acceptance rate is in the range of 60-70%. Hence, getting admission is quite easy if all the requirements are met.

The university offers a wide variety of undergraduate, postgraduate, part-time, CPD, and short term programs that fall under three faculties arts and Social Sciences, Engineering and Physical Sciences, Health, and Medical Sciences. According to the Graduate Outcomes survey 2020, 96% of the undergraduate students of the university are either employed or are admitted for further studies.

  • Entry requirements for International students vary from country to country. Interviews may be conducted for specific courses.

COVID-19 related Updates

  • Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the international students are required to self isolate for 14 days after their arrival.
  • The method of teaching for semester 1 has shifted to online mode. The university is planning to resume classroom teaching from the second semester.
  • The new session is expected to start on campus by 28 September 2020
  • If IELTS is canceled, the applicants can submit the IELTS test scores taken two years before the start of the course. Alternatively, the university is also accepting the IELTS iBT, TOEFL iBT, and Duolingo English Test for September/ October 2020 Entry and February 2021 entry.

Visa Application Process for International Students

  • The students are required to apply for an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate six months before the beginning of their course. Certain subjects need ATAS approval.
  • After the verification of documentation, the university issues a reference number called Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)by email.
  • International students require Tire 4 (General)student visa to study in the UK.
