University of Greenwich Application Deadlines

The September intake offers the widest range of programmes and is the main intake for Indian students. The January intake is available for selected courses in business, computing, engineering and nursing. Undergraduate applicants apply through UCAS, the UK’s central undergraduate application portal, while postgraduate applicants apply directly through the university’s Nelson application portal.

Planning note: Greenwich accepts postgraduate applications on a rolling basis. Apply at least six weeks before your start date to allow enough time for CAS issuance and visa processing.

University of Greenwich Eligibility for Indian Students

Greenwich publishes country-specific entry criteria for Indian qualifications, with Class XII and Bachelor’s percentages that translate directly to Indian grading. 

• UG general entry: Class XII with 65 percent from a recognised Indian board within the last two years.
• UG advanced entry: completed Year 1 of an Indian bachelor’s with 60 percent for Year 2 or 3 direct entry.
• PG general entry: a three or four-year Indian Bachelor’s with 55 percent in the final year.
• PG top-tier exception: 50 percent accepted from Mumbai, Savitribai Phule Pune, Calcutta, Delhi, Bangalore, and Madras universities.
• Specialised PG programmes: 65 percent from most Indian universities, or 60 percent from the top-tier list above.

Greenwich English Language Scores

Greenwich accepts several English proficiency tests. Undergraduate applicants generally need IELTS 6.0, with at least 5.5 in each band, while postgraduate applicants need IELTS 6.5, with 5.5 in each band. Nursing and midwifery require IELTS 7.0, while speech and language therapy requires IELTS 8.0, with at least 7.5 in each skill.

Indian applicants can skip IELTS if their Class XII English score is 65 percent or higher and the certificate is dated within the last two years. Older certificates require a fresh IELTS or PTE result. Passport holders from UKVI-defined majority English-speaking countries and holders of degrees taught in English are also exempt.

The University of Greenwich MBA is a one-year, full-time programme delivered at the Greenwich campus. Indian applicants need a Bachelor’s degree with 55% from a recognised university and at least three years of professional work experience. GMAT and GRE scores are not mandatory, as admissions staff assess academic records, work experience and the personal statement.

Applicants generally need IELTS 6.5, with at least 5.5 in each band, or an eligible English-language waiver. The MBA offers September 2027 and January 2027 intakes. Shortlisted applicants may be invited to an online interview about their career goals and reasons for choosing Greenwich, usually 2–4 weeks after applying.

Greenwich PhD Application Route

The University of Greenwich offers PhD programmes across four faculties: Engineering and Science, Business, Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Education, Health and Human Sciences. Applicants should first identify a suitable supervisor and prepare a 1,500–2,000-word research proposal aligned with a research group. They then submit a direct PhD application with their proposal, transcripts, references and CV, followed by an interview, usually online.

Applicants generally need a Master’s degree with distinction or a strong Bachelor’s degree with research experience. The English requirement is IELTS 6.5, with at least 5.5 in each band. Applications are accepted year-round, with intakes in October, February and May.

University of Greenwich Application Process

The application route splits by level. Undergraduates use UCAS; postgraduates apply directly to Greenwich through the Nelson portal. The steps below sequence a first-time Indian applicant from submission to CAS.

1. Register on the correct portal. Undergraduates open a UCAS account for 2027 entry (UCAS opened 12 May 2026, submissions accepted from 1 September 2026). Postgraduates open a Nelson account on the Greenwich international applications page.
2. Pay the application fee. UCAS charges GBP 34.50 (INR 4,455) for the 2027 cycle covering up to five choices; direct PG submissions on Nelson carry no application fee.
3. Upload transcripts and personal statement. Include Class X and XII marksheets or the Bachelor’s transcript with degree certificate, one personal statement, and one academic reference for PG.
4. Add English evidence. Attach IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or Duolingo score reports; upload the Class XII English marksheet if using the MOI waiver.
5. Track the decision. Direct PG decisions typically arrive in two to four weeks; UCAS UG decisions arrive on a rolling basis up to 13 January 2027.
6. Accept the offer and pay the deposit. Pay the GBP 3,000 (INR 3.87 Lakhs) tuition deposit via Flywire within 28 days to unlock the CAS request.
7. Request the CAS. Complete the CAS Shield checks and receive the 14-digit reference within 10 working days for your UK Student visa application.

Greenwich Admission Decisions and Offers

Greenwich issues most direct postgraduate decisions within 2 to 4 weeks of receiving a complete application. Undergraduate decisions through UCAS follow the standard UK cycle and are usually returned before mid-May. Offers may be conditional (pending final marksheet, English score, or specific subject grade) or unconditional where all evidence is on file.

• Acceptance deadline: international applicants have a guaranteed 28 days to accept and pay the deposit.
• Deposit: GBP 3,000 (INR 3.87 Lakhs) paid via Flywire triggers the CAS process.
• Deferral: offers can typically be deferred by one intake with written request to the admissions office.
• Rejection appeals: not routine; a new application in the next cycle with strengthened evidence is the normal route.

University of Greenwich Documents Required

All documents must be uploaded as clear PDF scans. Non-English documents need a certified English translation attached to the original.

Greenwich Acceptance Rate for Indian Students

The University of Greenwich does not publish an official acceptance rate. Third-party estimates place it at 60–68%, but this figure is not officially verified. Indian applicants generally need 65% in Class XII for undergraduate entry or 55% in a Bachelor’s degree for postgraduate entry, subject to course-specific requirements.

Submitting valid English-language proof is essential. Eligible applicants may use a Class XII English score of 65% or above instead of IELTS, except those from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, who cannot use this waiver.

Insider Note: Applicants from universities such as Mumbai, Pune, Calcutta, Delhi, Bangalore and Madras may qualify for a 50% minimum for certain postgraduate programmes at Greenwich. UK Student Visa Process

Indian students admitted to the University of Greenwich need a UK Student visa (formerly Tier 4). Apply after receiving your CAS, up to six months before your course starts. The visa fee is GBP 524 (INR 67,664), plus the Immigration Health Surcharge of GBP 776 per year (INR 1.00 Lakh).

You must show funds for your first-year tuition fees plus GBP 1,483 per month for up to nine months of London living costs, held in an eligible account for 28 consecutive days. A TB test from an approved clinic in India is also required for eligible applicants, and some postgraduate programmes need an ATAS certificate. 2026 update: Graduate Route visa remains at two years after a Bachelor’s or Master’s and three years after a PhD, unchanged for 2027 starters at Greenwich.
