University of Greenwich admissions run on two annual intakes — a large September intake covering most programmes and a smaller January intake for selected business, computing, engineering, and nursing courses. Indian applicants need Class XII with 65 percent for undergraduate entry and a Bachelor’s with 55 percent (50 percent from Mumbai, Pune, Calcutta, Delhi, Bangalore, or Madras universities) for postgraduate taught degrees.

  • Next live deadline: UCAS equal-consideration deadline for the September 2027 intake closes on 13 January 2027; direct PG submissions run rolling.
  • Base tuition and fees: UG from GBP 17,975 (around INR 23.21 Lakhs) per year, PG from GBP 18,700 (around INR 24.15 Lakhs); UCAS application fee GBP 34.50 (around INR 4,455), direct PG applications carry no fee.
  • Eligibility floor: UG needs Class XII at 65 percent, PG needs a Bachelor’s at 55 percent; IELTS 6.0 for UG and 6.5 for PG, both with 5.5 in each band.
  • Acceptance rate: estimated at 60 to 68 percent based on third-party admissions data; the university does not publish an official institutional figure.

Popular Indian-applicant choices include the MSc Data Science, MSc Cybersecurity, MBA, and BEng Civil Engineering. Recent Greenwich cohorts describe the admissions team as responsive on document queries, and the CAS turnaround typically runs 10 working days after the deposit clears. The University of Greenwich overview maps campus and placements alongside admissions.

Admission Status. Open. The primary intake is September 2027, and the UCAS undergraduate application for 2027 entry opened on 12 May 2026 (submissions from 1 September 2026), with the equal-consideration deadline set to 13 January 2027. Greenwich IELTS Waiver for Indian Students

Indian applicants can skip IELTS if their Class XII English score is 65 percent or higher and the certificate is dated within the last two years. Older certificates require a fresh IELTS or PTE result. The Class XII waiver is not accepted for applicants whose Class XII was issued in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, or Uttarakhand — these applicants must submit a test. Passport holders from UKVI-defined majority English-speaking countries and holders of degrees taught in English are also exempt.

Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official University of Greenwich India page for your chosen program before applying.

University of Greenwich MBA Admissions

The Greenwich MBA is a one-year, full-time programme delivered from the Greenwich campus. It suits Indian applicants targeting a mid-career UK degree without a GMAT hurdle. GMAT and GRE are not mandatory for admission — the panel weighs the transcript, experience letter, and personal statement.

Greenwich MBA Entry Requirements

  • Academic: a Bachelor’s degree with 55 percent from a recognised Indian university.
  • Work experience: minimum three years of professional work experience for the full-time MBA.
  • English: IELTS 6.5 with 5.5 in each band, or waiver as per Class XII rule.
  • GMAT or GRE: not required; strong applications without a test are considered.

Greenwich MBA Intakes and Interview

The MBA opens for both September 2027 and January 2027 starts. Shortlisted applicants may receive a brief online interview covering career goals and reasons for choosing Greenwich; timing typically falls 2 to 4 weeks after the application is submitted. Base MBA tuition sits at GBP 21,850 (around INR 28.21 Lakhs) for the 2026-27 fee year — see the funding options for Indian students for scholarship routes on the MBA.

Greenwich PhD Application Route

Greenwich admits PhD candidates across four faculties — Engineering and Science, Business, Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Education, Health and Human Sciences. PhD entry is research-proposal-led: applicants first identify a supervisor, then submit a formal application.

Greenwich PhD Application Steps

  • Step 1: Draft a 1,500 to 2,000-word research proposal aligned to a live research group.
  • Step 2: Contact a prospective supervisor via the faculty page for informal endorsement.
  • Step 3: Submit the direct PhD application with proposal, transcripts, references, and CV.
  • Step 4: Attend an interview (usually online) with the proposed supervisor and a second reader.

Greenwich PhD Entry and Funding

Applicants need a Master’s degree with distinction or a strong Bachelor’s plus research output. English requirement is IELTS 6.5 with 5.5 in each band. PhD applications are open year-round with intakes in October, February, and May. Funded studentships are advertised on faculty pages — see the Greenwich ranking band for the university’s research-power context.

Insider note: Applying to Greenwich PhD without a named supervisor rarely succeeds. Send a two-paragraph email with the proposal abstract before starting the formal application.

University of Greenwich Application Process

The application route splits by level. Undergraduates use UCAS; postgraduates apply directly to Greenwich through the Nelson portal. The steps below sequence a first-time Indian applicant from submission to CAS.

  1. Register on the correct portal. Undergraduates open a UCAS account for 2027 entry (UCAS opened 12 May 2026, submissions accepted from 1 September 2026). Postgraduates open a Nelson account on the Greenwich international applications page.
  2. Pay the application fee. UCAS charges GBP 34.50 (around INR 4,455) for the 2027 cycle covering up to five choices; direct PG submissions on Nelson carry no application fee.
  3. Upload transcripts and personal statement. Include Class X and XII marksheets or the Bachelor’s transcript with degree certificate, one personal statement, and one academic reference for PG.
  4. Add English evidence. Attach IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or Duolingo score reports; upload the Class XII English marksheet if using the MOI waiver.
  5. Track the decision. Direct PG decisions typically arrive in two to four weeks; UCAS UG decisions arrive on a rolling basis up to 13 January 2027.
  6. Accept the offer and pay the deposit. Pay the GBP 3,000 (around INR 3.87 Lakhs) tuition deposit via Flywire within 28 days to unlock the CAS request.
  7. Request the CAS. Complete the CAS Shield checks and receive the 14-digit reference within 10 working days for your UK Student visa application.

Greenwich Admission Decisions and Offers

Greenwich issues most direct postgraduate decisions within 2 to 4 weeks of receiving a complete application. Undergraduate decisions through UCAS follow the standard UK cycle and are usually returned before mid-May. Offers may be conditional (pending final marksheet, English score, or specific subject grade) or unconditional where all evidence is on file.

  • Acceptance deadline: international applicants have a guaranteed 28 days to accept and pay the deposit.
  • Deposit: GBP 3,000 (around INR 3.87 Lakhs) paid via Flywire triggers the CAS process.
  • Deferral: offers can typically be deferred by one intake with written request to the admissions office.
  • Rejection appeals: not routine; a new application in the next cycle with strengthened evidence is the normal route.

University of Greenwich Documents Required

All documents must be uploaded as clear PDF scans. Non-English documents need a certified English translation attached to the original.

  • Valid Indian passport (biometric page, minimum one blank page on both sides).
  • Class X and Class XII marksheets and pass certificates.
  • Bachelor’s transcript with individual semester marksheets and the provisional or final degree certificate (PG applicants).
  • English-test score report — IELTS TRF, TOEFL, PTE, or Duolingo.
  • Statement of Purpose of 500 to 800 words tailored to the chosen programme.
  • One academic reference on institutional letterhead (two references for PhD).
  • Updated CV showing education, internships, and any full-time work.
  • Work-experience letters (mandatory for MBA, optional for other PG).
  • Portfolio for design, architecture, or creative programmes.
  • Financial proof for the CAS stage — bank statement covering tuition plus GBP 1,483 per month for up to nine months of London living costs.

Greenwich Acceptance Rate for Indian Students

Greenwich does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party admissions data estimates the rate at 60 to 68 percent, based on aggregated applicant-to-offer patterns across UG and PG. In practice, meeting the Class XII 65 percent floor for UG or the Bachelor’s 55 percent floor for PG with the right English evidence produces a strong likelihood of a conditional offer.

What Improves an Indian Applicant’s Odds

The single largest lever is a clean English submission — either a valid IELTS above the programme’s stated floor, or a compliant Class XII English score from a non-restricted state. Applicants routed through the Punjab, Haryana, UP, or Uttarakhand boards should attach IELTS rather than rely on the waiver, since a missing test is the top rejection reason for these states.

Where Indian Applications Get Held Up

Missing final-year marksheets, unaddressed academic gaps, and a generic SOP delay the file more than a low percentage does. Attach a one-page gap explanation for any break longer than six months so the admissions team does not need to email back.

Insider note: Applications from the top-tier universities named on the India page (Mumbai, Pune, Calcutta, Delhi, Bangalore, Madras) qualify at 50 percent for standard PG programmes — worth checking your parent university’s status before assuming you fall below the floor.

UK Student Visa Process

Indian applicants need the UK Student visa (the route that replaced Tier 4) to study at Greenwich. Apply once you hold the CAS from Greenwich and no earlier than six months before the course start date. The visa fee for applications made outside the UK is GBP 524 (around INR 67,664), plus the Immigration Health Surcharge of GBP 776 (around INR 1.00 Lakh) per year of the course. Financial proof must cover full first-year tuition plus GBP 1,483 (around INR 1.91 Lakhs) per month for up to nine months of London living costs, held in the applicant or sponsor account for 28 consecutive days.

Booking a TB test at an IOM-approved clinic in India is mandatory before submitting the visa application. Some engineering, computing, and pharmaceutical-sciences PG programmes need an ATAS certificate — check the CAS letter to confirm. On arrival, collect the Biometric Residence Permit within 10 days and register on the Greenwich CAS Shield system for the enrolment week.

2026 update: Graduate Route visa remains at two years after a Bachelor’s or Master’s and three years after a PhD, unchanged for 2027 starters at Greenwich.

Tips and Checklist for University of Greenwich Admissions

The following tips and steps are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Greenwich and the university’s own admissions guidance for the 2027 cycle.

  • Confirm your MOI waiver eligibility first: Punjab, Haryana, UP, and Uttarakhand Class XII boards are excluded — book IELTS if that applies.
  • Request transcripts 8 weeks before deadline: Indian universities often take 4 to 6 weeks to issue official copies.
  • Aim to submit PG applications by October 2026: rolling review favours early files, and CAS windows tighten from March onwards.
  • Book IELTS by August 2026: London-cluster demand pushes slots out into peak months.
  • Keep your Bachelor’s provisional certificate ready: Greenwich accepts a provisional in place of the final degree at offer stage.
  • Add a one-line SOP hook per programme: generic SOPs reused across five choices are the most common revision request.
  • Pay the deposit within 21 days, not 28: a week of buffer time lets Flywire clear before CAS Shield opens.
  • Prepare financial proof 40 days before CAS: the 28-day holding period plus statement issuance takes time.

Popular Indian-applicant programmes at Greenwich sit at the intersection of employability and reasonable tuition, with a CAS process that runs faster than most Russell Group peers when documents are clean. Meeting the Class XII 65 percent or Bachelor’s 55 percent floor with matching English evidence takes an Indian applicant most of the way to a conditional offer.

  • Yes there are scholarships available and I had applied for 2 but was not selected. I was not given any particular reasoning for not being chosen. I did know 2 girls that I spoke to from India that did get a scholarship. 1 of them was the daughter of a political leader and maybe hence had a preference and the other had received scholarship on merit.
  • I am not aware of the exact number of people that received scholarships but I assume it to be around 7 for my coursework.

Scholarship

  • No unfortunately, considering the time I got admitted in the University, I did not receive any scholarship for my course. However, Greenwich does a pretty decent number of schemes which includes the International Student bursary of about 1,500 GBP available to most students. The eligibility criteria for the bursary is pretty simple- one needs to have an offer of admission and needs to be a genuine international student to avail the bursary.
  • Yes, most of my friends who got admitted through a consultancy got the bursary.

  • I was awarded the international student scholarship for about 4000 GBP. The eligibility Criteria is so simple that we have to be a student from outside UK and we should apply to that college early.
  • I was awarded 4000 GBP so I paid only 16000 GBP for my course here.
  • No, most of them are having the same scholarship as mine. Some of them applied a bit later; they didn’t get the scholarship either.
  • It varies from year to year. Nearly all provide scholarships to 50 per cent of international students based on the date they submitted the application.

Scholarship

  • I do believe that there are scholarships available.
  • However, despite my grades and eligibility, I could not get a scholarship, as my undergrad uni did not release the provisional certificates in time to submit them according to Greenwich's deadlines.
  • I believe scholarships up to 5000 GBP were available.

Scholarship

  • There is a scholarship scheme for students who are coming to university; for that, we have to go to the university website page and need to apply. While applying, we should check the weekdays and decision reveal days, which include dates. In the process of applying, we need to list our academic achievements and work experience. I did everything, but I didn't receive any scholarships due to the high volume of scholarship applications for my course.

Overview

Reflecting on my overall experience at University of Greenwich, I can say it was a transformative journey filled with growth, learning, and memorable moments. The rigorous academic curriculum pushed me to expand my knowledge and develop critical thinking skills. Engaging with professors who are experts in their fields and participating in diverse courses provided a strong foundation in my chosen discipline. The learning helped me actually implement and solve real problems on ground in business/work life. Building relationships with peers, professors, and alumni was one of the most rewarding aspects. The sense of community and the diverse network of individuals I connected with have provided lasting friendships and professional contacts. College was a time of significant personal growth. I learned to manage my time effectively, balance various commitments, and navigate the challenges of independence. These experiences shaped me into a more resilient and adaptable individual. In summary, my time at University of Greenwich was a pivotal chapter in my life. It was a period of intense learning, personal growth, and unforgettable experiences. The knowledge and skills I gained, along with the relationships I built, have prepared me well for my future endeavours. I look back with gratitude and pride for being part of such an inspiring and supportive academic community.

Scholarship

I have received the scholarship based on my Degree and 12th grades which is 2000 GBP.

Overview

The overall experience is quite good considering the quality of education as it is much more practical also it feels up to date with industry standards. Also some of the modules requires coursework which is more researched based which widens the knowledge and gives a student an opportunity to use the knowledge they received. In terms of placements, all the Universities lack these as they cannot provide the placement.

Scholarship

No. I applied for a scholarship but it was declined as the scholarship application was late.
