University of Sheffield Admission Deadlines

There are no specific deadlines for PG courses. Masters courses start in the autumn (end of September), so it is recommended that the applicant apply early in the year (January/February).

University of Sheffield Undergraduate Admission

The University of Sheffield offers more than 300 undergraduate programs to all applicants. The basic admission process for all the programs is the same.

  • Applying for multiple courses: £24 – 25

Admission Requirements

Applicants must apply directly to the UCAS website. On this website, all education history, grades and qualifications from secondary onwards must be mentioned. A personal statement must also be submitted, along with the applicant’s employment history. An added benefit is a reference letter.

Once the University responds, the following documents might be required to be mailed:

  • Official transcripts showing at least three full A Levels or its equivalent.
  • Proof of English Proficiency (for international applicants).
  • Interviews will be held by certain programs.

Every program has a certain cut off that are required to be fulfilled. The cut off varies from country to country. Be sure to check the cut off of intended program before applying.

English Proficiency Test Scores Requirements

International Applicants are required to submit proof of their English proficiency in addition to the other academic transcripts and requirements. Any one of the following documents can be submitted:

Please note that the Trinity Integrated Skills Qualifications must be completed within the two years before applying to Sheffield, and the other qualifications must be completed within the five year period before applying to Sheffield. If the qualification was achieved before the aforementioned time period, the applicant might be asked to take one of the Proficiency Tests.

Please also note that certain departments will require different scores or standards of English Proficiency.

Visa Process for International Students

International Applicants who are accepted to the University of Sheffield will require a Tier 4 Student Visa to enter the United Kingdom. Students can follow the below steps to apply for the visa:

  • The first step is to ask the University for the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), which should include the student’s full name and registration number. It is essential to check whether all the details are correct, including whether any fee payments have been made.
  • Next, the applicant should keep the necessary documents ready. These include:
    • A valid passport or travel document.
    • Two passport size colour photographs
    • CAS
    • Original Bank Statements showing adequate funds for first-year tuition fees
    • Sponsorship Letters/ Loan Confirmation Letter (if applicable)
    • Parental Consent Letter (if the applicant is under 18)
    • Academic Qualification Proof as mentioned in the CAS, including official transcripts.
    • Tuberculosis Test Certificate
    • Biometrics at the Visa Application Centre (In some cases only)
  • If any of the documents are in languages other than English, it should be translated, and details of the translator’s credentials must also be mentioned.
  • The applicant must then complete the visa application form online, pay the fees for the visa and the Immigration Health Surcharge.
  • Schedule a visa appointment. Applicants can check the status of the visa online.

University of Sheffield Graduate Admissions

The University of Sheffield offers more than 250 postgraduate programs in the field of Creative writing, Architecture, Biological Sciences, Finance, Global History, Health, Journalism and Law. The basic application process is the same.

For undergraduate programs, the admission decisions are made on rolling basis. If the university is not able to make a decision the university will contact the applicant. Some academic departments require interview to make decision, however, some other departments await the 15 January deadline before considering applications. In both cases, the applicant will receive a letter or email from the department explaining the procedure.
