I had applied to few different universities amongst which the cardiff university was the best choice for me in terms of research quality, exposure, particularly mechanical engineering field was ranked top 10 in UK And top 150 in global rankings.
Course Curriculum
Coming for an Indian teaching background, i must say that my 3 years at Cardiff university were not less than a roller coaster. At times, i found it really difficult to even ace a passing marks in exam. First 6 months went by just trying to understand the teaching style in my uni. I had plenty of breakdown understanding the academic content. But as the time went by, i got better with it and in my 2nd year i was more confidence with my abilities and understanding of the course.
Faculty
The professors and teaching staff was super friendly and super ethical ( unlike in india:P) . They would assist us in evey possible ways . My Personal tutor was an indian guy . He helped me gel up well with the teaching style in uk.
Placement
I would have little to no knowledge about the placements or post study employment since i was never into it. But one of my Indian friend did a year in industry (sandwich course) and he struggled hard to get into a job. The success percentage of students placed was not a comfortable percent, however it wasn't dead impossible for an average student to get into it. I visited many companies as a part of my course and research work. Some of them were:- 1)Nuclear fission plant 2)Sewage treatment plant
Accommodation
I stay in 4 different accomodations in 3 years time. My first living was horrible. The rooms there stinks, pretty small bedrooms. The reason for that was i went with a low priced accommodation. After 2 weeks, i moved to a different accomodation ( liberty cambrian point), which was just okey and a bit costly than previous one. In my second year, i chose studio room which would be close to my engineering school and hence give me motivated to wake up and attend the lectures ?. Cost 6500 pounds / year 3rd year i shifted back to a different cheapest option because studio didn't give me value for money. I had a company of good people there. Cost 4700 pounds / year
Exams
I had submitted sop, cv while i was applying to different universities through ucas and also for the visa interview
Events
I made friends from different ethnicity and culture. The campus life was great, well organized buildings , designated social gathering areas, libraries, labs etc. Cardiff university buildings were scattered in the entire city, different courses buildings were located at different locations. Cardiff university students constituted of about more than half of the city's population so you can imagine the scale of university.
Fees
18980 pounds per year, so for three years it would be roughly 57,000 pounds.
