Cardiff university is a Russell group university. Russell group universities are highly ranked in the UK. I also picked Cardiff university because it is recognized as an Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research by the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre, which is a field I am interested in.

Course Curriculum

10

I would say my Course curriculum is very up to date because we were taught course content in the latest version of the languages we learnt. We have been given an option to spend a year in industry for our second year but I did not chose this option because I want to focus on learning right now.

Faculty

9

For every 1 faculty member we have 9 students. Even though the class sizes are pretty huge, we have teaching assistants that respond to doubts via email almost immediately. We also have daily drop-in sessions where students can get help on anything from classwork to graded assessments. The teachers are always open to questions throughout the lessons and have special sections of the class reserved for asking questions. If needed, they also allot entire classes just for doubt solving. My professor for my first module, Dr. Kirill Sidorov left an incredible impact on me because of how he described the entire course. He looked at computer science as a means to solving problems which really made the course a lot clearer for me and helped me think of tasks as problems to be solved.

Accommodation

10

I was not able to get University accommodation because I applied for it way too late. However, I was able to rent a room right in front of my university. I never went there but it is a private accommodation facility only for students. There are a lot of such facilities in Cardiff. Rentals range anywhere from 144 pound a week to 200 pounds. It all depends on the size of the room you want.

Exams

My university only required 33 IB points. I met my English requirements because I got an A in English in IGCSE, so I did not need any tests for English.

Events

I have been a remote student for a year now and have not had the chance to visit the campus.

Scholarship

I received a scholarship if 2500 pounds and I did not have to apply for this. I got it with my offer.
