I narrowed down on the universities in UK offering MSc Data Science and applied everywhere. Cardiff was swift to respond and connected me to alumni who could tell me about the university more. Also, Cardiff is a student city and easily accessible from all major cities in UK.
Course Curriculum
The course modules and the syllabus was very relevant and revised and updated. It focused on practical applications and programming. There were frequent assignments to test the student's understanding and relied on students to practice and come up with their problems and doubts.
Faculty
The faculty was extremely knowledgeable. They were ready to help and would try to resolve the issues at the very first instance. We could take prior appointments as well and reach out to them in case of any doubts. The professors were prompt as well and ensure any doubts are dealt with at once. Ms Joanna Emery was of immense help to me during my dissertation as she helped me get a research topic of my area of interest.
Placement
Cardiff is known for good research programs as well. Although there are no 'placement' for my program, there would be events where once could connect with the recruiters, build a network, participate in different events that help land a job. There is a placement year for many other courses where one gets an extra year to work as an intern.
Accommodation
University accomodation without food (cook yourself), flat shared by 5 people- individual room ensuite with a shared kitchen.
Exams
SOP- Include points about your interests in the course and why you choose the university. Plus points if you include the universities' vision and goals whilst writing your SOP.
Events
There are numerous activities that takes place on the campus. There are language classes, hobby clubs, different competitions organised by the Student Union, soft skills classes, personality development lessons and so much more. There are also weekly trips that happen which can be taken to see the nearby places. The classrooms are equipped with projectors and audio/video recorders for accessing the lectures later on. The libraries are super cool with all the relevant study material.
