Course Curriculum

8

  • Course syllabus: The curriculum is timely and very relevant to the job market. There were core modules and I could have selected specialist modules in Marketing Analytics, Strategic & HR Analytics, Operations Analytics and Environmental Analytics. It is genuinely up to date thanks to its practical and tool-based approach Exeter prospects.
  • Industrial exposure and research: Yes. The Business Project module of the programme was based on true industry data and provided the opportunity to have practical experience of the industry by tackling a real problem within an organisation. Guest lectures and careers events were also available and, in addition, the Business School's employer links provide an additional exposure prospects.
  • Classes every day, starting at 8:30am.Rather, I teach courses 1-3 times a day, and they are a combination of lectures, workshops and computer labs, usually from 9am to 6pm. The rest of the time is given to independent study and group work.

Admission Experience

  • I selected University of Exeter because of its excellent Russell Group ranking, picturesque campus and coastal and countryside surroundings in Devon, which is a secure and welcoming city. My application to UCAS was undertaken using my grades, personal statement and reference and was a smooth process with all communication being clear.
  • Business Analytics was an elective I chose, as I felt it was a combination of Data, Technology and Business Decision Making, which are skills that are very much sought after across all industries. Exeter was the perfect place to study it, as it was the well-known Business School, along with the practical modules and good employer links. I have had a very positive overall experience: the supportive staff, the modern buildings and the active student community has helped me to grow in both my academic and personal development and it is for this reason that I have chosen Exeter.
  • Just gave my IELTS 8 that it nothing much specific tests.

Faculty

  • The ratio is around 1:50, as core lectures are quite large. Smaller workshops, laboratory sessions and office hours ensure that students are able to receive more one-to-one attention from lecturers.

Campus Life

10

  • Exeter has 3 campuses in Exeter (Streatham and St Luke's) and Cornwall (Penryn). I study Business Analytics at Streatham, the main campus, where I can enjoy the gardens, woodland and green open spaces.
  • The Students' Guild organises more than 200 societies, ranging from cultural and academic societies to hobbies and volunteering societies. I believe the business, finance and data oriented societies are very helpful for networking and skill development as a Business School student.
  • There's always something happening on Campus, from Freshers' Week to society socials, careers' fairs and guest lectures, cultural events and end-of-year balls.
  • There are quiet study areas, computer rooms, and long hours of opening at the Forum Library and the Research Commons, as well as group rooms. The Internet journals and databases as well as the analytical tools have been very useful for my work.
  • Sport is a staple part of Exeter's heritage. Modern sports park (gym, fitness classes, indoor and outdoor courts, swimming pool, playing fields) and dozens of sports clubs for each level. Campus life is rich, full and friendly at Exeter. It strikes a great balance between academics, social life and wellbeing.

Part Time Jobs

  • You can get some opportunities in the city as well as some options available in campus too but its hard to find not that easy.

Placement

6

  • Approximately 70% of my batch got job within 6 months of completion of course. There were others who found jobs soon after as job hunting in the analytics industry can take a few months, particularly as an international student with a sponsorship visa.

  • Exams required: I had the option of either the GMAT or the GRE, but I didn't have to complete either of them for the MSc Business Analytics at Exeter. It was only as an international student that I had to take a test to prove my English level, either IELTS, TOEFL or PTE. Candidates should have a 2:1 with honours or equivalent in any subject.
