The next primary intake is September 2027, with UCAS undergraduate submissions already open and postgraduate portal applications rolling from October 2026.
Deadlines below are drawn from the official University of Glasgow key dates page and the UCAS 2027 cycle calendar. Undergraduate applications route through UCAS or Common App; postgraduate applications go direct through the Glasgow applicant portal.

University of Glasgow Eligibility for Indian Students
University of Glasgow uses standard UK conversions when reading Indian qualifications. Undergraduate entry maps Class XII scores from CBSE, ISC and State Boards to UK A-level bands. Postgraduate entry converts a Bachelor’s percentage to a UK 2:1 or 2:2 honours class. English proficiency is a separate, non-negotiable floor for every non-native applicant.
University of Glasgow UG Eligibility from Class XII
- CBSE and ISC (A*AA equivalent): Around 85 percent overall for the most competitive courses like Law, Medicine and Engineering.
- CBSE and ISC (AAA equivalent): Around 80 percent overall for most Arts, Social Sciences and Science courses.
- CBSE and ISC (AAB, ABB, BBB): Around 75 percent overall for standard-entry programmes.
- State Board (Intermediate, Higher School, Higher Secondary): Similar bands, 75 to 90 percent depending on programme.
University of Glasgow PG Eligibility Floor
Taught Master’s programmes ask for a UK 2:1 honours degree equivalent, which Glasgow reads as an Indian Bachelor’s at 55 to 63 percent depending on the awarding institution’s tier. Programmes such as Global Mental Health and Public Health accept a 2:2 equivalent at around 50 to 58 percent. Competitive quantitative programmes ask for a maths-heavy Bachelor’s with at least 20 percent of modules in university-level mathematics.
English Language Requirements Across Tests
| Test | Standard PG and UG Minimum | Higher-Bar Programmes (LLM, Nursing) |
|---|---|---|
| IELTS Academic | 6.5 overall, no subtest below 6.0 | 7.0 overall, no subtest below 6.5 |
| TOEFL iBT | 92 overall | 96 to 98 overall |
| PTE Academic | 65 overall, no subtest below 60 | 70 overall, no subtest below 62 |
| Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE) | 176 overall, no subtest below 169 | 185 overall |
Tests must be taken within 2 years and 5 months of the programme start date. Glasgow accepts the TOEFL At Home test and the IELTS One Skill Retake.
University of Glasgow IELTS Waiver for Indian Students
Glasgow does not publish a blanket Medium of Instruction (MOI) exemption for Indian degrees. Indian students whose Class XII or Bachelor’s degree was completed at an institution where English is the sole medium of instruction may still write to admissions with a formal MOI letter for consideration on some programmes. In practice, most Indian applicants are asked to submit a valid IELTS, TOEFL or PTE score. Students below the floor can join the university’s Pre-sessional English pathway through the English for Academic Study Unit, which is BALEAP-accredited and feeds directly into the September start.
University of Glasgow PG Programs and Entry Requirements

Scottish undergraduate degrees typically run four years, one year longer than English three-year programmes, giving Indian applicants time to add a study-abroad year or industrial placement.
University of Glasgow MBA at Adam Smith Business School
The Glasgow MBA is a 12-month full-time programme at Adam Smith Business School, ranked in the Financial Times Global Top 100 for 2026 and recognised as Tier One by CEO Magazine’s Global MBA Ranking 2025. It is a single-cohort September intake with no January or May restart. There is no separate January round for Indian students.
Glasgow MBA Entry Requirements for Indians
- Academic: An honours degree in any subject (or non-UK equivalent), which for Indian applicants means a Bachelor’s at 55 percent or above.
- Work experience: Minimum of 3 years professional experience at mid-senior level, with demonstrated planning and business responsibility.
- GMAT or GRE: Not a standard requirement. Adam Smith Business School runs an internal verbal reasoning and numerical test in place of GMAT.
- English: IELTS 6.5 overall (no subtest below 6.0), TOEFL 92, or PTE 65.
Glasgow MBA Interview and Assessment Stage
Shortlisted applicants are invited to an informal Zoom interview with a member of the admissions team. The interview assesses fit with the Glasgow MBA cohort, motivation, and the applicant’s clarity on post-MBA career direction. Scholarship candidates are also assessed during the interview, so Indian applicants should prepare their scholarship pitch in the same session.
Base tuition for the Glasgow MBA is £40,500 (INR 52.37 Lakhs) for the 12-month full-time programme. The application fee is £25 (INR 3,233). International MBA offer-holders pay a £2,000 (INR 2.59 Lakhs) deposit to secure their seat. For scholarship options, see the funding for Indian students.
Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official University of Glasgow MBA page for your chosen program before applying.
University of Glasgow PhD Admissions and Funding
University of Glasgow PhD applications route through the individual school’s Graduate School rather than a central portal. Indian applicants first identify a supervisor and align on a research proposal, then submit through the school’s online application form. Most PhDs start in October, with some schools also offering January and April entry.
University of Glasgow PhD Application Steps
- Identify a supervisor from the school’s staff pages whose research aligns with your proposal.
- Contact the supervisor with a 2 to 3 page proposal outline and your CV, before submitting the formal application.
- Submit the application through the school’s own portal, uploading transcripts, references, English test and detailed proposal.
- Attend an interview with the supervisor and a second academic, usually via Zoom for Indian applicants.
Glasgow PhD Funding for Indian Students
Fully-funded PhDs at Glasgow carry an annual stipend of £21,805 (INR 28.19 Lakhs) for the 2026-27 academic year, set at the UKRI (UK Research and Innovation) rate. The funding package covers all tuition fees, a maintenance stipend and a Research Training Support Grant. Doctoral scholarships from the Colleges of Arts, Social Sciences, MVLS and Science and Engineering are open to students from any country, including India. Application deadlines are school-specific; for October 2027 entry in Computing Science, the deadline is 31 January 2027.
Insider note: Indian PhD applicants who write to a Glasgow supervisor by October 2026, with a tight proposal aligned to that supervisor’s grant portfolio, have a materially better chance of being included in the school’s January scholarship round.
Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official University of Glasgow PhD page for your chosen program before applying.
University of Glasgow Application Process for Indian Students
The application route depends on the level of study. Undergraduate applicants use UCAS, the central UK undergraduate platform, with Common App as a secondary route for international students. Postgraduate applicants apply direct through the Glasgow applicant portal. PhD applicants apply through the school’s Graduate School page after supervisor contact. The process below covers the two main routes for Indian students.
UCAS Undergraduate Application (2027 Entry)
- Register on the UCAS Hub from 12 May 2026 onwards. The UCAS 2027 cycle opened for submission on 1 September 2026, so Indian applicants can submit right now.
- Choose up to five courses across UK universities, including your Glasgow programme.
- Draft the personal statement of up to 4,000 characters, tailored to Glasgow’s course-specific criteria.
- Add academic reference from a Class XII teacher or school counsellor.
- Pay the UCAS application fee of £34.50 (around INR 4,461) covering all five choices.
- Submit by the deadline: 15 October 2026 for Medicine, Dentistry, Vet Medicine; 13 January 2027 for all other courses.
Glasgow PG Direct Application (September 2027 Entry)
- Search the postgraduate A-Z on the Glasgow website and open your chosen programme page.
- Click Apply Now to register or log in to the Glasgow applicant account.
- Complete the online form with your personal, academic and English test details.
- Upload transcripts, degree certificate, English test, CV, personal statement and two references.
- Pay the application fee of £25 (around INR 3,233) via the Glasgow applicant portal for Adam Smith Business School programmes. Other postgraduate courses at Glasgow carry no application fee.
- Track your offer through Applicant Self-Service, which becomes accessible 1 to 3 working days after submission.
What Happens After You Submit
Glasgow acknowledges receipt within 1 to 2 working days and aims to respond within 28 working days of a complete application. Successful applicants receive either a conditional offer (pending final results or English score) or an unconditional offer. Indian offer-holders must accept the offer and pay the £2,000 (INR 2.59 Lakhs) deposit within the stated window. The university issues the CAS letter around four months before programme start, which drives the visa timeline.
University of Glasgow Documents Required Checklist
Every University of Glasgow application asks for the same broad documentation set. The list below is what Indian applicants routinely upload. Prepare digital copies well before submission, since incomplete files delay both the offer and the downstream CAS.
- Passport bio-page: Machine-readable copy of your Indian passport, valid for the full course duration.
- Class XII marksheet and Board certificate: Attested copy from CBSE, ISC or your State Board.
- Bachelor’s transcripts and degree certificate: Semester-wise marksheets and a consolidated transcript, attested by the awarding institution.
- English language test score: IELTS, TOEFL, PTE or Cambridge, valid within 2 years 5 months of programme start.
- Personal statement: 500 to 1,000 words for PG; 4,000 characters for UG via UCAS.
- Two academic references: On letterhead from professors or school teachers, uploaded via applicant self-service or emailed by the referee.
- CV or resume: Recent, with work experience relevant to the programme.
- Work experience letters: Only for MBA and executive programmes, confirming 3+ years of professional experience.
- Photograph: Passport-size digital photograph, JPEG under the portal file limit.
- Research proposal: Only for PhD applicants, 2 to 3 pages aligned to the supervisor’s research interests.
Before you apply: Get your transcripts stamped and scanned early. Indian universities frequently take 4 to 6 weeks to issue certified copies during the December-January window, which coincides with peak Glasgow submission.
University of Glasgow Acceptance Rate for Indian Students
University of Glasgow’s overall acceptance rate is approximately 70 percent, drawn from the university’s most recent aggregate admissions data. The figure covers UK-domiciled applicants as well as international. The university does not publish a separate Indian-applicant acceptance rate. Third-party estimates for international applicants sit lower, at around 40 to 55 percent, since international programmes see stronger competition.
How Course Selectivity Shifts the Odds
The overall figure masks course-level variation. Data-driven Master’s like MSc Data Analytics, MSc International Finance and MSc Computing Science admit smaller shares of Indian applicants because demand outpaces cohort caps. Undergraduate Medicine (MBChB) is the most selective, with UCAT scores, interviews and Class XII at 90 percent all in play. Arts, Humanities and Education programmes carry the highest acceptance rates within the university.
What Indian Applicants Can Do to Improve Odds
- Apply early: Submit before December for competitive PG courses. Glasgow uses rolling admissions and stronger applicants are already spoken for by March.
- Meet or exceed the English floor: An IELTS at 7.0 when the course asks for 6.5 signals readiness and reduces conditional-offer risk.
- Tailor the personal statement: Match the programme’s specific modules and faculty rather than generic career goals.
- Get strong academic references: Two references from professors familiar with your quantitative or research work carry more weight than employer references for taught Master’s.
Glasgow’s Russell Group standing and world-position around QS 79 (2026) mean it recruits students who match a strong global cohort. For a full break-up of Glasgow’s ranking band across QS, THE and subject tables, see the ranking silo.
Reality check: A Bachelor’s at 65 percent from a Tier-1 Indian institution (IITs, NITs, top central and state universities) reads as a stronger 2:1 equivalent than a 72 percent from a lower-tier college. Glasgow admissions weighs institution reputation when converting Indian grades.
UK Student Visa Process for University of Glasgow Admits
Indian students admitted to University of Glasgow apply for a UK Student Visa (Route), formerly the Tier 4 (General) visa. The application is filed online with UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) after Glasgow issues the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) letter, which usually lands around four months before programme start. Indian applicants complete biometrics at a Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata or Hyderabad visa application centre.
The visa fee is £524 (INR 67,753) and the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) for a full-time student is £776 (INR 1.00 Lakh) per year of study, paid upfront. Financial evidence must show tuition fees plus £1,483 (INR 1.92 Lakhs) per month of living costs (up to 9 months for London-outside courses, which includes Glasgow) held in a personal or parental account for 28 consecutive days. Turnaround for a decision is typically 3 weeks from biometrics under the standard service, or 5 working days for the priority service. On landing in the UK, students must collect their Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) or activate the eVisa within 10 days.
2026 update: The UK’s Graduate Route visa (post-study work) currently runs for 18 months after a Master’s, letting Glasgow’s Indian graduates work in any role across the UK without sponsorship. Confirm the current duration on the UKVI site before committing, as policy is under active review.
University of Glasgow Admissions Tips and Checklist
The following tips and steps are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at University of Glasgow. Combine both threads to structure your submission timeline for the September 2027 intake.
- Book IELTS by August 2026 if you have not tested yet, so your result is on the portal before the December application push.
- Request transcripts eight weeks before your target submission date, since Indian universities routinely take four to six weeks to issue certified copies.
- Line up two academic references by October 2026 and share programme details with your referees to keep letters specific.
- Draft the personal statement across three revisions rather than one, ideally with a peer or senior review between drafts.
- Submit the online application by mid-December 2026 for competitive Master’s like Data Analytics, Computing Science and MFin International Finance.
- Pay the £2,000 (INR 2.59 Lakhs) deposit within the stated window after receiving your unconditional offer, so the CAS letter is triggered on time.
- Apply for the UK Student Visa within one month of receiving the CAS, and never later than three weeks before programme start.
- Book accommodation in parallel with the visa, since Glasgow’s Kelvinhaugh and Cairncross student residences fill by May.
University of Glasgow admissions reward Indian applicants who read each programme page carefully, apply early in the rolling window, meet or exceed the English floor, and prepare the visa evidence stack the moment the unconditional offer lands. The path from application to Glasgow arrival runs cleanly when transcripts, IELTS, references and financial proof are in hand by December 2026.

Ques. Is GMAT required for the Glasgow MBA at Adam Smith Business School?

Ans. Glasgow aims to respond within 28 working days of a complete application. Applicants receive an acknowledgement within 1 to 2 working days of submission, and can track the decision through Applicant Self-Service. - Extremely supportive culture
- Supports career development and prepares students for the job market
- A strong international student pool which helps with cultural exchange
Dislikes
- The administartive processes are slow which can be difficult to navigate at times
- Can be a challenge to find accomodations that fit the budget
- Some of the taught courses were not at par with a masters level
Scholarship
- I did not receive any scholarship, as I applied quite late and the scholarship deadlines had already passed but I know that the University offers a range of scholarships for the course. The list of scholarships that the applicant might be eligible for is mentioned on the programme website under the 'Funding opportunities' section. It is very difficult to give a number of awards and the amount, as it varies.
- Most of the people I know had Commonwealth scholarships which covered all their expenses. The University endowment funds also sometimes cover tuition fees, but the exact amount is variable. One does not need to specifically apply for these separately.

- I liked the facility, faculty, Library, Events, Infrastructure (I would tell one of the beautiful campus in UK universities) and quality of course and curriculum
Dislikes
- There is nothing I dislike about the university all was according to my expectation but I would tell the mode of exam was bit challenging for my course and it could vary on courses..

- Course module and delivery was very up to date, relevant and practical information. Courses were assignment focussed that help develop deep understanding of the subject matter.
- Professors are from diverse backgrounds and global experts in their respective fields. They are also very friendly and super helpful.
- State of the art labs that let you practice what you learnt theoretically.
Dislikes
- Placement services could be better
- More options for university accomodation could be made available
- Prior information on what the exact course module is about could be useful
Scholarship
- No, I did not receive a scholarship.
- There is a Dean's scholarship which is £10,000, and that is just one award across all STEM branches. So it can get quite competitive. You need to write an essay for it.
- There is an option for Commonwealth funding where the government from Commonwealth countries nominates you and pays for your costs. The condition is that you need to go back as soon as you complete the course and serve in the public sector for 2 years.
- There are options for financial aid as well, which needs to be applied for separately. I am not sure about that.

Likes
- - The competitive environment amongst the students, which makes any serious student motivated to study for longer period with a clear purpose in mind.
- - The beautiful historic walls of the 573-year old university.
- - The scenic landscape of gardens spread across the campus. It's preferable to carry a camera, or a good quality phone as there would be many captivating moments to capture while strolling across the campus
Dislikes
- - There are limited University accommodation facilities which are nearby to the university, as most of the available accommodation services are way far from the campus and require a transport to travel. So, it's better to book earlier in advance.
- - The weather can be depressing at times, with sudden rains and cold breeze.
- - During the months of November to January, there may be much less exposure of sunlight, with sun setting at around 3:30-4 pm itself. Due to which, I developed depressive thoughts during the initial days of stay, and had to eventually consult advice from the wellbeing team of the university, which later helped out significantly.
Scholarship
- I received the India Merit Award scholarship of £5000 for my course, and the eligibility criteria is 1st class marks in the undergraduate degree.
- The award amount of the scholarship was £5000.
- Yes, many of my batchmates from India received the India Merit Award scholarship, with some receiving the Global Leadership scholarship of an amount of £10000. But the eligible candidates for this scholarship are only 300.
- On average, almost all the students from India receive the India Merit Award scholarship, while the typical award amount may vary from £5000-£10000.

- Research oriented curriculum in par with industrial standards.
- The ancient infrastructure of the university( also called the Hogwarts of Scotland)
- The opportunity to learn from classmates and professors for all around the globe inculcating a rich diverse educational experience.
Dislikes
- While the infrastructure of the university is breath taking, practically attending the classes would make us to run from one corner to another corner is very time consuming. It would be really helpful if they can work on the time table and class allotment schedule keeping this fact into consideration.
- Would appreciate if we are provided with more industrial visits.
- Since the Masters program is 1 year, I think it would be really interesting if we can choose to do a dissertation under the University or in a private institution.
Scholarship
- I was not able to receive the scholarships, as the scholarship options to my field of study was very limited and I applied for my Masters at the very last minute.
- There would be around 10 to 15 of 150 people who got the scholarship like I recollect.
- Would advice to keep a check on the university website and apply as soon a possible for more chances on getting the scholarship.

- Focused on real-time application-based education. All the given assessments must not be copied from any source. A student should use their knowledge about the concept and accordingly work on them. All the assessments helps to understand a student about how the things work in industry.
- Strict action against plagiarism: The university takes plagiarism cases very seriously. This leaves no option for a student to copy other's assignments.
- Help to build teamwork: There are many projects, case studies, and research-based projects that need to be done in groups of students. This helps a student work in a team. In this model, all the students should take part in the project work. Otherwise, they will not receive high scores in delta scoring from other students.
Dislikes
- Less idea about the curriculum: It takes time to understand the whole curriculum and exam patterns. Professor should be more focused to make every students understand about the curriculum.
- Sometimes course becomes more hectic with multiple assignments of the different subjects with the same time of submission. Since, each of the course work takes good amount of time. It becomes hectic during the deadline.
- Since, University conducts less classes for each subjects. Because of that professor doesn't go deep into the topic instead they just teach the topic on high level.
Scholarship
- I have received 2 scholarships. India Merit Award and International Leadership Scholarship from the University.
- For India Merit Award: Minimum CGPA required: 8.0
- For International Leadership Scholarship: Minimum CGPA required: 8.0 + Strong profile
- Award Amount:
- For India Merit Award: 5000 pounds
- For International Leadership Scholarship: 10,000 pounds
- A lot of them, whoever has an 8 and above CGPA, got the scholarship.
- There is no average number who receives the scholarships every year. All of them, if they have an 8 and above CGPA, will automatically get the India Merit Award scholarship and for the International Leadership Scholarship, we need to apply explicitly. But the headcount is not revealed by the university.
- Award Amount:
- For India Merit Award: 5000 pounds
- For International Leadership Scholarship: 10,000 pounds

- The campus is very beautiful. You get the best experience here.
- It has the biggest library space of 14 floors and various study spaces on campus are open till late at night.
- The Uni organises events for every other occasion and there are various societies you can get involved with. This boosts your self confidence, you communicate with various people from diverse backgrounds.
Dislikes
- There are a lot of things happening at once. pretty hard to concentrate on one thing.
- The course length is 1 year which gives you very less time to settle in and look forward for your course.
- The course fees is a bit expensive compared to other colleges in UK but at the same time it has nice Overall ranking.
Scholarship
- Yes there are various scholarships available. Application based and Merit based. I got £5k India Merit Award.
- The max Scholarship you get is £10K. Other than scholarships provided by University there are various scholarships outside of the organisation and government scholarships.
- Few of my friends are on Fully funded scholarships from their state government. Dont know the specifics of the number of students, but i would suggest you to apply as soon as possible. Chances are pretty high to get an scholarship if you apply early

- In my opinion, the university being a russel group university helps a lot when looking for jobs so that was a plus for me.
- Then the curriculum of Data Science Course was very vast and well thought out.
- University of Glasgow has a very good reputation in the field of research which I experienced during my time here, as it showed in professor's teachings.
Dislikes
- Surviving in an abroad country is difficult and that too along with studies is difficult. This is something you have to manage on your own, there will be no support from the university in this regard.
- The teaching style is very different from India, as here nothing is taught in sense of teacher explaining things, you have doubts you can ask them but you have to explore things yourself.
- Teaching here is basically just reading out presentation slides, main focus should be on the doubt sessions where you will get your doubts cleared.
Scholarship
- There is Chevening Scholarship which is provided to 60000 people from all around the world to study in UK.
- Although I didn't receive it but one of my batchmates did, its a fully funded scholarship in which a student receives the entire tuition fees as a scholarship so that the student can afford studying in one of the top universities of the UK.
- Very few students receive scholarships but there's a university team which provides hardship funds if presented with evidence that you need financial support for your daily tasks.

- Well, As I have been doing a joint degree being delivered by 4 different universities, I attended three universities in person in three different countries. All these three universities were very different in terms of facilities. In terms of accommodation, the Tallinn University dorm was cheap and available but the university accommodation at Glasgow University was costly and not easily available. The same was the case of the university in Ireland.
- The library opening hours at university of Glasgow and Maynooth University were very good as these were bigger universities than Tallinn University.
- Student support systems as in counselling services were good at all universities.
Dislikes
- But please note as I was doing one semester at each university that was one of the reasons I was facing difficulty in terms of having acc. But it could have been arranged better.
Overview
Well, I wanted to change my field of work and experience an international educational system. So, I applied for this course as it seemed very fascinating to me to do a master's in 3 different countries. I got a fully funded scholarship as well. My overall experience has been very enriching as I get to travel, study with people from diverse backgrounds, and experience different cultures and academic environments. My tuition fee, living cost, health insurance and airfare were all covered except my visa application fee. So, it was not that stressful financially for me to pursue this degree which I understand is very expensive if you are going to do it self-funded. Universities like the University of Glasgow are very reputed in the top 100 ranking for their quality of education, research and other things. Overall, my experience was good but definitely very challenging and stressful at times as well as I have been moving to a new country every semester which means finding a place to stay, visa applications settling in a new place and constant planning of travel, academic stuff and other things. It was challenging no doubt but very much worth to be experienced.
