Middlesex University offers 15+ scholarships, of which 10+ are accessible to Indian applicants across UG, PG, and PhD.

The stack ranges from £200 sport bursaries up to Chevening’s full-tuition award worth over £50,000 (INR 64.12 Lakhs).

Access rules are strict: Middlesex University applies only one institutional scholarship per applicant, so combining routes requires planning.

  • Standard 2026/27 PG tuition at Middlesex University: £16,600 to £19,200 per year (INR 21.29 to INR 24.62 Lakhs).
  • With the £2,000 Regional and International Merit Award applied: PG net tuition drops to £14,600 to £17,200 (INR 18.72 to INR 22.06 Lakhs).
  • With Chevening’s full-tuition award plus £2,000 monthly London stipend: net tuition is zero, plus INR 2.56 Lakhs monthly living support.
  • Next open deadline for Indian applicants: Chevening Scholarship, 06 October 2026.

Currency Note: All INR conversions use the live rate of 1 GBP = INR 128.24 as of August 2026. Values are indicative; exact tuition varies by course and campus.

Middlesex University Scholarships for UG Students

Middlesex University runs five undergraduate scholarship routes for the September 2026 and January 2027 intakes, four of which are open to Indian nationals.

ScholarshipAmountIndian-Applicant EligibilityDeadline
International High-Achievers Award£5,000 (INR 6.41 Lakhs)Top-band international UG applicants; automatic screening at offer stageAutomatic at offer
Regional and International Merit AwardUp to £2,000 (INR 2.56 Lakhs)International UG students including India; demonstrated academic strengthAutomatic at offer
Professor Brenda Barrett Law Bursary (UG)£1,000 (INR 1.28 Lakhs)First-year LLB Law, LLB Law with Criminology, or Foundation Year in Law and Social SciencesTentative October 2026
Significant Achievement in Sport (UG)£200 to £1,000 (INR 25,648 to INR 1.28 Lakhs)UG students competing at regional or national levelTentative September 2026 (post-enrolment)
Alumni Progression Discount (UG top-up)20% off tuitionUG graduates from validated or franchise partners entering Year 2 or Year 3Automatic at offer

The International High-Achievers Award is the top-value UG route for Indian students, cutting first-year tuition to about £11,600 (INR 14.88 Lakhs) at the lower fee band. The £2,000 Regional Award triggers automatically for international UG applicants who fall short of the high-achiever band but hold strong Class XII results.

Indian students planning a Foundation Year followed by LLB Law should check the one-scholarship rule with Middlesex University Admissions before assuming that the Brenda Barrett Bursary can sit alongside the £5,000 award.

Middlesex University Scholarships for PG Master’s Students

Middlesex University offers six taught postgraduate scholarships, all accessible to Indian applicants for the September 2026 and January 2027 intakes.

ScholarshipAmountIndian-Applicant EligibilityDeadline
Alumni Postgraduate Award20% off tuition (40% for Arts and Creative MA courses)Middlesex University alumni entering any taught PG programmeAutomatic at PG offer
2026/27 Arts and Creative Industries MA AwardUp to 40% off tuitionNew MA students in Arts and Creative Industries, September 2026 entryAutomatic at MA offer
International High-Achievers Award£5,000 (INR 6.41 Lakhs)Top-band international PG applicants; typically first-class Bachelor’s from Indian universitiesAutomatic at offer
Regional and International Merit AwardUp to £2,000 (INR 2.56 Lakhs)International PG students including India; academic meritAutomatic at offer
Professor Brenda Barrett Law Bursary (PG)£1,000 (INR 1.28 Lakhs)LLM, PGDip Law, or PGCert Law studentsTentative October 2026
Significant Achievement in Sport (PG)£200 to £1,000 (INR 25,648 to INR 1.28 Lakhs)PG athletes at regional or national competition levelTentative September 2026 (post-enrolment)

For MSc Computer Science and MSc Data Science, the two largest Indian intake cohorts, the £5,000 International High-Achievers Award trims 26% off the top-band £19,200 PG fee, dropping annual tuition to £14,200 (INR 18.21 Lakhs). MSc International Business and MBA applicants qualify for the same reduction band.

Arts and TESOL applicants sit on the best internal deal: the 40% Arts MA award combined with the 20% alumni bonus (for MDX alumni only) can cut a £15,700 MA fee to £6,280 (INR 8.05 Lakhs) in effective tuition.

Reddit Insight: On r/IntltoUK, Indian PG applicants repeatedly flag Middlesex University’s one scholarship at a time rule. The £5,000 International High-Achievers Award does not stack with the £2,000 Regional Award, so top-band Indian applicants should default to the higher figure and skip the Regional route entirely.

India-Specific Scholarships at Middlesex University

Middlesex University does not run a stand-alone India-branded scholarship in its 2026/27 catalogue. Indian applicants access institutional funding through four ring-fenced routes.

  • Regional Award (South Asia band): £2,000 (INR 2.56 Lakhs) off first-year tuition for Indian UG or PG students with strong academic evidence.
  • International High-Achievers Award: £5,000 (INR 6.41 Lakhs) for Indian applicants in the top academic band, typically a first-class Indian Bachelor’s degree.
  • Alumni Postgraduate Award: 20% tuition off (40% for Arts MA) for Indian graduates of Middlesex University’s London, Dubai, or Mauritius campuses.
  • Living Costs Fund: Cash payment or supermarket food vouchers for enrolled Indian students facing verified financial hardship during term.
India-Route ScholarshipAmountApplication MethodDeadline
Regional and International Merit (South Asia)£2,000 (INR 2.56 Lakhs)Automatic at offer; no separate formAutomatic
International High-Achievers£5,000 (INR 6.41 Lakhs)Automatic at offer for top-band Indian applicantsAutomatic
Alumni Postgraduate Award (India-eligible MDX alumni)20% off tuition (40% for Arts MA)Flag alumni status on the PG application formAutomatic at PG offer
Living Costs FundVariable cash or vouchersOnline form via Uni Help Online after enrolmentRolling; open throughout academic year

The one-scholarship-at-a-time rule matters most here. A top-band Indian PG entering MSc Data Science must choose between the International High-Achievers Award (£5,000) and the Regional Award (£2,000): the higher figure wins on net tuition.

Indian alumni progressing from a Middlesex University Bachelor’s degree to a taught Master’s can combine the Alumni Postgraduate Award with an external route such as Chevening, since institutional-plus-external stacking is permitted by the FCDO framework.

Middlesex University PhD Scholarships

Middlesex University PhD funding is dominated by the ESRC-funded SENSS Doctoral Training Partnership, supplemented by internal Research Studentships tied to specific supervisor-led projects.

ScholarshipAmountIndian-Applicant EligibilityDeadline
ESRC-Funded PhD Studentship (SENSS DTP)Full tuition + £22,780 annual stipend (INR 29.21 Lakhs) with London weightingIndian citizens applying to social science PhD; Bachelor’s plus Master’s usually required01 October 2026 to 14 January 2027, 12:00 UK time
Middlesex Internal Research StudentshipFee waiver plus select stipend (amount varies by project)Indian PhD candidates on supervisor-listed funded projectsRolling; posted per project on the Doctoral School page
School-Specific Faculty StudentshipsVariable fee waivers; some cover full tuitionIndian applicants aligned to faculty-listed research themesRolling; check with the Doctoral College

The ESRC Studentship is the marquee PhD route, offering a £22,780 (INR 29.21 Lakhs) London-weighted stipend that clears standard PhD living costs in Zone 3 to Zone 4 areas around the Hendon campus.

Indian PhD applicants should email a target Middlesex University supervisor with a two-page proposal draft before the internal shortlisting round. Cold applications with no prior supervisor exchange rarely clear the ESRC panel.

External Government Scholarships for Middlesex University Applicants

Indian applicants to Middlesex University are eligible for four external UK government or India government scholarships that stack cleanly with any Middlesex University tuition reduction.

External ScholarshipAmountIndian EligibilityDeadline
Chevening Scholarship (UK FCDO)Full tuition + London-weighted monthly stipend + return airfare; total package regularly £50,000+ (INR 64.12+ Lakhs)Indian citizens with a 2:1 Bachelor’s equivalent (approx 60% or 6.5 CGPA) and two years’ full-time work04 August 2026 to 06 October 2026, 11:00 UTC
Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship (UK FCDO)Full tuition + £2,000 monthly London stipend (INR 2.56 Lakhs) + airfare + child allowanceIndian citizens with a 2:1 UG degree unable to fund UK PG study privatelyApplications close tentative October 2026 via India nominating agency
GREAT Scholarships India (British Council + FCDO)£10,000 minimum tuition award (INR 12.82 Lakhs); Middlesex-hosted GREAT law strand runs to £21,800 (INR 27.96 Lakhs)Indian citizens holding a Middlesex University offer for eligible taught MA or MScTentative March 2027 to April 2027 (annual cycle)
Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation ScholarshipUp to $100,000 (INR 83+ Lakhs) toward tuition and living costsIndian citizens under 30 with a first-class UG degree and a confirmed Middlesex PG offerTentative December 2026 (annual cycle)

Chevening remains the largest single package for Indian applicants planning a one-year Middlesex University Master’s, since it clears tuition, funds London-weighted rent, and pays return airfare. Awardees must commit to returning to India for a minimum of two years after the award ends.

The Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship is routed through India’s nominating agency, so Indian applicants must file through the National Nominating Agency channel before the CSC panel reviews any candidate. Direct applications to the FCDO are rejected outright.

Reddit Insight: On r/Commonwealth threads, Indian nominees confirm the London-weighted £2,000 monthly stipend (INR 2.56 Lakhs) covers Zone 3 to Zone 4 rent near Middlesex University’s Hendon campus, with roughly £600 (INR 76,944) left over for food and transport.

Middlesex University Scholarships: Frequently Asked Questions

Ques. What is the maximum scholarship stack an Indian student can receive at Middlesex University?

Ans. The largest Indian-eligible package comes from the Chevening Scholarship, worth over £50,000 (INR 64.12 Lakhs). Chevening covers full PG tuition, a London-weighted monthly stipend, return economy airfare, and a thesis grant. Middlesex University adds no institutional top-up because Chevening awardees are treated as fully funded by the FCDO.

Ques. When do Middlesex University scholarship applications open and close for the September 2027 intake?

Ans. Most Middlesex University merit awards apply automatically at the offer stage. The Professor Brenda Barrett Law Bursary opens tentative October 2026; the ESRC PhD Studentship runs 01 October 2026 to 14 January 2027. External Chevening applications are open now, closing 06 October 2026.

Ques. Do I need to submit a separate scholarship application to Middlesex University?

Ans. No, most Middlesex University scholarships are automatic. The Regional Award, International High-Achievers Award, and Alumni Postgraduate Award are triggered when the applicant accepts a course offer. Only the Brenda Barrett Law Bursary, Sport Scholarship, and Living Costs Fund need a separate online form.

Ques. Does any Middlesex University scholarship cover rent in central London?

Ans. No stand-alone Middlesex University tuition-waiver award covers accommodation. Halls at Middlesex University cost £204 to £230 per week (INR 26,161 to INR 29,495 weekly). Rent cover only comes via Chevening or Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship, both of which add a London-weighted £2,000 monthly stipend (INR 2.56 Lakhs).

Ques. What is the Middlesex University International High-Achievers Award and who qualifies?

Ans. The International High-Achievers Award reduces first-year tuition by £5,000 (INR 6.41 Lakhs). Indian UG and PG applicants qualify automatically if their prior academic record sits in the top international band, usually first-class Bachelor’s for PG entry. Middlesex University applies the reduction at the offer stage without a separate form.

Ques. Can I combine a Middlesex University scholarship with the Alumni Postgraduate Award?

Ans. No, Middlesex University restricts applicants to one institutional scholarship at a time. Indian alumni progressing to a taught Master’s must compare the 20% Alumni discount against the £5,000 International High-Achievers Award to see which cuts more tuition. External government awards such as Chevening do stack with tuition already covered.

  • In UK most of the houses will be fully furnished they will provide every thing including kitchen items bed crockery But then one of them will be semi-furnished; just provide kitchen equipment like a fridge, stove and hot water
  • Most problem or challenge any student will face all the time is landlords wont be ready give the student a house even though they do part-time jobs; if not, they will ask any guarantor to sign the document on behalf of tenant who is uk citizen or a full-time worker in the UK.
  • My accommodation is quite walkable, hardly 15 to 20 minutes and most of the Indian people stay in and around harrow wembly and hendon itself and few people will stay in Acton or Ealing Broadway.

  • Yes, I got a 2000 pounds scholarship for my profile, as I had 7.5 bands in IELTS and 4+ years of experience as a software developer. I was not given the scholarship at first but I talked to the lady who was looking at my admission and requested a scholarship and after my interview and looking at my profile, they offered me a scholarship of 2000 pounds.

  • I found accommodation from my personal network. Monthly rent was 400 without food and I was sharing a room with a friend. It included wifi and bills. A friend of mine had already found a room for me so it was not very difficult but I had looked on facebook before for rooms. My room was around 35-40 minutes away by bus from the university. I lived in an Indian area where there were a lot of Indian students living nearby.

Scholarship

Yes, I got a scholarship of 2000 pounds under the scholarship titled “International Merit Award”. I just had to submit all my marksheets and transcripts since 10th standard.

My overall experience at this University was really great. I am very grateful for everything that I was able to learn here. The syllabus for all the subjects was completely up-to-date which made us ahead of everyone else. The teachers were always motivated to teach new things that are happening in the university. The University supports the students financially as well. Overall- Yes, I would absolutely recommend this University in the UK!

Fabulous and Excellent. It was a wonderful experience as UK universities are completely different from all Indian universities in terms of quality or standards of education. Many different countries students come especially from Europe and Dubai (nearby ) countries to UK! Different cultures combine in UK as compared to USA and Canada.

The university is supportive in having the resources, network and different areas of specialties available to aid individual learning and achievements. I feel very supported when faced with academical challenges. There are social activities, clubs and facilities to support physical, social and mental wellbeing as the university ensures the academic journey is successfully achieved.

Santander academic excellence award, I applied to it online through the university's website. I had to write a letter.
