Your current open intake is October 2027, with applications opening in early September 2026 and closing between 15 October 2026 and 8 January 2027 depending on course. The Rhodes India deadline of 31 July 2026 is the immediate action for this cycle.

  • Undergraduate standard fee (Band 1): £35,080 (INR 45.55 Lakhs) plus £9,940 (INR 12.91 Lakhs) college fee

Bank transfers from India take 3 to 5 working days, so initiate payment at least a week before each term. Oxford does not offer a full-payment discount.

A one-year Master’s at Oxford totals INR 86 Lakhs to INR 1.11 Crore including tuition and living, while the MBA reaches INR 1.51 Crore. A three-year undergraduate degree at Band 1 tuition totals approximately INR 2.47 Crore including college fees, living, and mandatory visa costs.

October 2027 Intake: Rhodes India Deadline Closes 31 July 2026

Course deadlines fall between 15 October 2026 and 8 January 2027. The UK Student Visa (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies, the document needed for the visa) takes 3 to 8 weeks, giving comfortable runway for October 2027 entry.

Fee update: The 2026/27 rate of £37,380 to £62,820 (INR 48.56 to 81.60 Lakhs) applies to the now-closed October 2026 entry. The 2027/28 rate for your October 2027 intake publishes in autumn 2026 and typically rises 5 to 8 percent year on year.

When to pay: A £200 (INR 25,980) college acceptance deposit is due within 4 to 6 weeks of your offer and counts toward tuition. Full tuition splits into three termly instalments at the start of Michaelmas, Hilary, and Trinity terms. Initiate wire transfers 5 to 7 working days before each term. Oxford does not offer a full-payment discount.

Scholarships: Rhodes India closes 31 July 2026 for October 2027 entry, this is the highest-value urgent action for the cycle. Clarendon Fund needs no separate form and uses your Oxford application. Felix Scholarship closes 8 January 2027 within the Oxford form. Inlaks, KC Mahindra, and JN Tata open December 2026 to January 2027.

University of Oxford Tuition Fees by Programme

Oxford charges overseas undergraduate fees banded by course discipline, with a separate £9,940 (INR 12.91 Lakhs) college fee that funds tutorial teaching and welfare. Postgraduate fees are set programme-by-programme and taught Master’s degrees do not pay a separate college fee.

University of Oxford Undergraduate Fees: 2026/27 Published Rate

Overseas undergraduate tuition sits in four bands based on discipline, with the college fee applied uniformly across all programmes. Bills arrive as a single annual amount but escalate every year at the tuition line while the college fee stays flat.

University of Oxford Fee Trend by Year

Oxford postgraduate fees have risen 6 to 10 percent per year for most Indian-applied programmes over the last five academic years. The table below tracks MSc Advanced Computer Science as a representative Indian-favourite course.

Academic YearMSc Advanced Computer Science (GBP)MSc Advanced Computer Science (INR)YoY Change
2022/23£32,320INR 41.98 LakhsBaseline
2023/24£35,270INR 45.82 Lakhs+9.1%

2026/27£43,730INR 56.81 Lakhs+5.8%

Source: University of Oxford Graduate Course Fees archive, MSc Advanced Computer Science historical published rates.

The five-year escalation from 2022/23 to 2026/27 is 35.3 percent, an average of 7.8 percent per year. Humanities and social science courses have escalated slightly slower (5 to 6 percent annually), while STEM and business school programmes have run ahead of the university average.

Key Insight: Your October 2027 intake will bill at the 2027/28 rate, published in autumn 2026, and expected to sit at roughly £46,000 to £47,000 (INR 59.75 to 61.05 Lakhs) for MSc Advanced Computer Science. That is INR 2.5 to 4 Lakhs above the current 2026/27 rate. Deferring to October 2028 (2028/29 rate) typically adds a further INR 3 Lakhs. Locking your Oxford offer for October 2027 is the cheaper choice versus any deferral.

Cost of Living in Oxford for University of Oxford Indian Students

The University estimates monthly living costs at £1,405 to £2,105 (INR 1.82 to 2.73 Lakhs) for 2026/27, translating to an annual living budget of INR 21.90 to 32.81 Lakhs for a twelve-month PG programme. Oxford is more expensive than most UK cities except London due to constrained housing supply.

Note: Priority college accommodation for graduates is guaranteed only for the first year at most colleges. From Year 2, DPhil students often move to private rentals at £900 to £1,400 per month (INR 1.17 to 1.82 Lakhs), a 30 to 40 percent premium over college rent. Budget for this step-up if your programme runs longer than 12 months.

Oxford’s council tax exemption for full-time students removes a UK-specific cost that would otherwise add £150 to £200 per month (INR 19,485 to 25,980). This exemption applies automatically once the University confirms your enrolment to the local council. Do not include council tax in your budget planning.

Currency Tip: Your first tuition instalment falls due at Michaelmas registration for the October 2027 intake. Load a Wise, Niyo, or ICICI Sapphiro multicurrency forex card for living expenses and save 2 to 3 percent versus SBI wire fees. For tuition, a bank-to-bank wire is still cheaper than card-based transfer at that scale, but lock your GBP rate 3 to 4 weeks before the offer-letter deposit deadline.

Total Cost of Studying at University of Oxford

Your all-in Year 1 budget spans INR 80 Lakhs at the low end (UG Band 1 with college housing) to INR 1.51 Crore at the high end (Oxford MBA). Mandatory UK fees include the Student Visa (£490, one-time) and the IHS (Immigration Health Surcharge, paid upfront with the Student Visa application) at £776 per year.

Mandatory fees shown are for Year 1 only. The IHS is paid upfront for the full course length at £776 per year, so a two-year MPhil upfronts £1,552 (INR 2.02 Lakhs) and a three-year UG upfronts £2,328 (INR 3.02 Lakhs) at the visa application stage.

The full three-year UG Band 1 programme totals approximately £186,000 (INR 2.42 Crore), while a two-year MPhil International Relations totals approximately £116,000 (INR 1.51 Crore). An INR 1 Crore education loan at 10.5 percent over 10 years carries an EMI of approximately INR 1.35 Lakhs per month. An INR 1.51 Crore loan (Oxford MBA scenario) rises to approximately INR 2.04 Lakhs per month at the same terms.

Key Insight: The Clarendon Fund covers full tuition and college fees for the October 2027 intake, cutting your controllable one-year cost to living only (INR 22 to 33 Lakhs). That is a scholarship value of INR 45 Lakhs (MSc Advanced Computer Science) to INR 81 Lakhs (MSc Financial Economics) per year. Your Oxford application (deadline 8 January 2027 for most PG courses) automatically enters you for Clarendon consideration, this is the single highest-value fee lever for the cycle.

Layer Inlaks and JN Tata applications in February to March 2027 once your Oxford offer is in hand. This sequence protects your full-tuition upside without wasted application overhead.

Hidden Costs of Studying at University of Oxford

For the October 2027 intake, the most time-sensitive hidden cost is the IHS (Immigration Health Surcharge), paid in full upfront with your Student Visa application 3 to 8 weeks before travel, at £776 per year of course length. Budget these below.

  • Student Visa fee: £490 (INR 63,651), one-time, paid at UK Visa Application Centre in India
  • IHS upfront: £776 per year of course length, so £1,552 (INR 2.02 Lakhs) for 2-year MPhil or £2,328 (INR 3.02 Lakhs) for 3-year UG, paid in one lump at the visa stage
  • Initial setup (bedding, kitchen essentials, winter clothes): £400 to £600 (INR 51,960 to 77,940), Oxford winters routinely drop below 5 degrees Celsius
  • Academic gown for matriculation: £40 to £60 (INR 5,196 to 7,794), required for matriculation and formal exams (Ede and Ravenscroft is the standard supplier)
  • IELTS retake (if needed): £190 (INR 24,681), Oxford requires 7.0 overall for standard courses, 7.5 for humanities
  • Bank transfer fees: £15 to £30 per wire (INR 1,949 to 3,897), three termly instalments totalling £45 to £90 (INR 5,846 to 11,691) per year
  • College membership levy (some colleges): £30 to £60 (INR 3,897 to 7,794) annually for Middle Common Room dues
  • Return flights India to London Heathrow: £550 to £900 (INR 71,445 to 1.17 Lakhs) for two trips per year

Budget approximately INR 4 to 6 Lakhs for first-year hidden costs above the tuition and living totals in Section 4.

Note: Indian families most often forget the IHS upfront amount. It is not billed in instalments and cannot be paid annually, the full £776 per programme year is due at the Student Visa application. For a 2-year MPhil this means £1,552 (INR 2.02 Lakhs) hitting your visa forex quota 6 to 8 weeks before departure. Include it in your loan sanction, not out-of-pocket cash.

Fee Saving Strategies for University of Oxford Indian Students

For the October 2027 intake, the highest-urgency saving lever is the Rhodes India application closing 31 July 2026, worth roughly INR 65 to 85 Lakhs across two years. The four levers below cover post-Rhodes savings that stack on top.

  • Apply for college accommodation from Year 1: College housing sits 30 to 40 percent below Oxford private rentals, saving INR 4 to 7 Lakhs per year versus off-college studios
  • Claim Section 80E on your education loan: Full interest deduction on Indian education loans is available for up to 8 years post-graduation, no upper cap on the amount claimed
  • Choose shorter programmes where available: MSc Financial Economics runs 9 months versus 12 for other Master’s, saving 3 months of living costs (INR 6.84 to 8.19 Lakhs)
  • Use the UK Graduate Route Visa post-study: Automatic 2-year post-study work rights after a Master’s (3 years after DPhil), enabling loan repayment from UK earnings at £40,000+ (INR 51.96 Lakhs+) starting salary median
  • Compare fee bands before final course choice: MPhil International Relations (£37,100, INR 48.19 Lakhs) undercuts MSc Financial Economics (£62,920, INR 81.73 Lakhs) by INR 33.54 Lakhs per year while both feed comparable London careers
  • Formal Hall over restaurants: College Formal Hall dinners at £5 to £8 (INR 650 to 1,039) undercut Oxford restaurants by 60 percent, saving INR 60,000 to 90,000 per year at 3 dinners per week

Tip for Indian Students: For the October 2027 intake, the single highest-value saving lever is layering scholarships. Rhodes India (deadline 31 July 2026) or Clarendon Fund (automatic with Oxford application, deadline 8 January 2027) each eliminate tuition entirely. Stacking a JN Tata Endowment (INR 10 Lakhs, deadline 20 March 2027) on top covers living. This combination can reduce your net Oxford PG cost from INR 85 Lakhs to under INR 5 Lakhs for one year.

  • The course curriculum is mostly theory-oriented and requires deep engagement with reading materials. It is quite intensive, requiring consistent reading before every class, critically discussing these readings in seminars, preparing with extra readings for assignments, and writing high-quality essays for assessments. The rigor of the course is very impressive, but can also be exhaustive after half of the term passes.
  • Classes are usually scheduled in the first half of the day, with only one course per day. There are 35 students in my class, with 3 Indian students, including me.

Fees

  • The tuition fees for the course are around 35,000 GBP per year. It is to be paid yearly. Depending on your lifestyle, the monthly living expenses can be anywhere between 1000 GBP to 2000 GBP, a majority of the amount going towards rent expenditure.
• Rent (including bills) can cost anywhere between 550 - 1100 GBP based on amenities, sharing options and location. Transportation is cheaper if you can cycle, and it can come around to 70-80GBP per month if you plan to use the bus regularly.

  • The difficulty level was high. It was a mixture of theoretical and practical sessions involving coursework and problem-based learning sessions.

  • The most positive aspect of my course was how it wasn't about learning and memorizing but everything that we were taught was based on practical learning which included clinical case commentaries too.

Fees

  • The course fee was about 40,000 GBP for my course in Integrated immunology (2021-2022) and the cost of living was around 12,000 GBP including accommodation costs.
  • You can estimate having a living cost of around 1000 GBP per month.
  • The fees charged for the course are one-time while living costs are paid every month. Transportation can be as low as around 2 GBP per day.

  • The difficulty- It is a blend of theory and practical but a higher level of importance is given to the practical side. Students are encouraged to constantly write and comment on works of other students.

  • The difficulty level is between moderate to advanced. What's challenging is the fact that assignments take place right after the units are over and units resume right after the examination.

  • Positive aspect of the course- the course uses unconventional methods of teaching. Rather than just stating what is better or what sorts of techniques are better, most often than not we are given the chance to try all methods and decide for ourselves.

Fees

  • As mentioned earlier, there are two ways for fee submission-
    - In one go- here the students can submit the entire fee for the year at once.
    - Installments- here, the students can submit the free in 3 instalments spanning over a year with no additional interest or charges.

  • The fee is usually taken for one year at a time and the second year fee is usually different from the first year and revealed after the first year is done.

  • There are no additional monthly expenses during the online course but while visiting Oxford for classes, the tuition is covered in the overall fee, but the hostel/BnB is an additional expense that varies each year. The hostel is very hard to secure due to high demand. BnBs which are shared with a family (this is something most students chose in my course) varied from somewhere 60,000 to 1,50,000 for fifteen days.

  • Additionally the fee each year varies but a round figure would be somewhere around 7 - 8 LPA.

  • Mostly theoretical with a focus on the mathematics behind computer science (linear algebra, multi-variable calculus, probability)
  • Positive aspects are that the courses are entirely dependent on your major so if you pick the major you are interested in you will have a great time studying only the most interesting courses in that major.
  • This can also be a negative since you might be unsure which subject you want to study and there are very limited opportunities to switch your major.

Fees

  • 48 lakhs (INR) for the first year, 52 lakhs for the second year, 56 lakhs for the third year and 60 lakhs for the fourth year (optional)
  • You can request to have your fees paid across the three terms by applying for financial aid - otherwise you have to make the entire payment at the start of the year.
  • Monthly expenses is about 30K (INR) and transportation is 80K for the return flight twice or thrice a year

Lots of options in all fields, both pure and applied. High-quality material. We can opt to apply for internships through their career programme and also work on research projects in later years under a professor.

Oxford University is itself a brand university. Doing BA in English was simply awesome there. The course curriculum enabled me to learn perfection in English literature and language. The faculty staff is too interactive. I gained a better understanding of topics such as the concept of Modernity, colonial space, modernist fictional form, literature and visual culture, metafiction and late twentieth century poetics.

Fees

The total cost of this course is about £32000. The other charges such as student welfare fees, library charges, etc. are also included in it. Any student can avail for the scholarship facilities at the university such as Chevening scholarship which reduces the tution fees and gives other allowances also.
