University of Plymouth Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027

Requirements at University of Plymouth are set by faculty, with clinical and engineering programmes running higher academic thresholds. The list below covers the headline entry criteria Indian applicants meet at the offer stage.

Postgraduate Requirements at University of Plymouth

  • Academic: Indian bachelor’s degree with 55% or CGPA 5.5/10 (recommended), rising to 60% for clinical and engineering courses
  • English language: IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, Duolingo English Test and LanguageCert are accepted; verify programme-specific minimum scores at Plymouth’s official English language requirements page
  • Documents: Attested transcripts, two references, personal statement and CV; WES not mandatory but accepted
  • Programme-specific: Clinical physiotherapy routes require a recognised BPT degree and clinical hours evidence; MBA routes may require two years of work experience

Undergraduate Requirements at University of Plymouth

  • Academic: Indian Class 12 (CBSE, ISC or state board) with 65% to 75% (recommended) in relevant subjects; engineering and computing streams need mathematics
  • English language: Class 12 English at 70% often accepted in lieu of IELTS, subject to programme; verify at Plymouth’s English language requirements page
  • Foundation route: Available for applicants who fall below the direct-entry threshold, taught at Plymouth’s International College

Key insight: Plymouth waives the English test for Indian applicants whose bachelor’s degree was fully taught in English, on submission of a medium-of-instruction letter. This saves both the test fee and the four to six week booking delay in peak season.

University of Plymouth Acceptance Rate 2027

University of Plymouth has an acceptance rate of 85%, making it one of the more accessible UK universities for Indian applicants who meet the academic threshold. Plymouth prioritises programme fit over grade-cutoff filtering, so a well-argued personal statement can offset a borderline academic profile.

Clinical programmes such as MSc Physiotherapy and BSc Nursing carry a lower effective admit rate because seats are capped by placement availability. Business and computing routes see the widest offer pool. Applicants with 55% at bachelor’s level and a clear career narrative typically clear the review.

Reality check: An 85% overall rate does not mean auto-admit for Indian applicants. Physiotherapy, occupational therapy and nursing routes require verified clinical hours and are competitive on placement basis, not marks alone.

Fees also sit at the affordable end of the mid-tier UK band, keeping total investment lower than Exeter or Coventry.

Is University of Plymouth Right for You?

University of Plymouth suits Indian applicants targeting MBA universities in UK at a mid-tier fee point, or those chasing accredited routes into physiotherapy, marine engineering, computing and nursing. Total investment of INR 28 to 39 lakh a year against a UK median graduate salary of INR 29 lakh gives a reasonable ROI, and the Graduate Route visa adds two years of paid work time.

It is a weaker fit for applicants aiming at Russell Group finance careers or top-tier consulting, where employer bias still favours London or Oxbridge peers. Coventry University is a realistic alternative for engineering with stronger industry-linked routes and comparable fees.

Overview

Plymouth located in the far south-west of the United Kingdom with its treasured history and landscape attracted me as a student as the peaceful environment would allow me to achieve both academic and personal goals. The university has some amazing scholarship opportunities and I was given the International Postgraduate Platinum Scholarship which reduced my tuition fee to a great extent. My overall experience was quite good as I made new friends, gained knowledge on new topics and participated in social events and activities.

Campus Life

There are several societies and clubs such as the Biomedical Club, Badminton Club and the Geek Society enriching the experience of international students and providing them with opportunities to connect with people from all walks of life. The huge library is a walk-in paradise for book lovers. There are study rooms in the library for students. WIFI is also freely available for students. The exceptional infrastructure, research resources and social events make it a great university!
