UOH admissions operate through multiple national examination cycles depending on the programme level. The 2026-27 admission cycle is now complete. The dates below cover the concluded 2026-27 cycle and the upcoming 2027-28 intake.

UOH Courses and Fees

UOH offers over 300 programmes across humanities, sciences, social sciences, management, engineering, fine arts, and public health. Fees are among the most affordable in India for humanities and science streams at a central university, while professional programmes such as MBA and BTech+MTech carry higher fees.

The MBA (Business Analytics) at the School of Management Studies carries the highest fees at INR 5,87,425 for two years. Integrated BSc+MSc programmes are offered in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, Applied Geology, Health Psychology, and Mathematical Sciences. The Integrated BA+MA at INR 42,810 over five years remains one of the most cost-effective routes to a postgraduate degree in humanities through a centrally funded university.

UOH Admission Process

UOH admissions are purely merit-based through national entrance examinations. No management quota, direct admission, or donations-based route exists at any programme level. The selection path differs by programme family.

Integrated Programmes (Undergraduate Entry)

The five-year integrated BA+MA, BSc+MSc, and B.Optometry programmes admit students through CUET-UG scores. Candidates apply on the UOH admissions portal after CUET-UG results are declared. Final allotment is based on CUET-UG merit, category, and programme preference. The BTech+MTech (5-year) in Computer Science and Engineering and Material Science and Engineering is filled via JEE Advanced marks through JoSAA centralised counselling.

MA, MSc, and MCA Admissions

MA and MSc admissions use CUET-PG subject-specific scores. Candidates are shortlisted in merit order within each programme and category. MCA admission is through NIMCET (National Integrated MCA Common Entrance Test), with seats allotted via centralised NIMCET counselling. Eligibility for MCA typically requires a relevant bachelor’s degree with Mathematics as a core subject.

MBA Admissions

The School of Management Studies accepts CAT, MAT, and CMAT scores. Candidates shortlisted on a score threshold are called to the UOH campus for a Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GD-PI). Final selection weights the entrance score, GD-PI performance, and academic record. The Executive MBA is targeted at candidates with relevant work experience. All MBA programmes are two-year full-time residential programmes.

MTech Admissions

MTech programmes are filled through GATE scores via CCMT (Centralised Counselling for MTech). Candidates with valid GATE scores register on the CCMT portal and rank UOH as a preference. Programmes include Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, VLSI and Micro-Electronics, Material Engineering, and Bioinformatics.

PhD Admissions

PhD admissions require a valid UGC-NET or CSIR-NET (with or without JRF) or a cleared UOH school-specific entrance examination, followed by an interview by the respective school faculty board. Candidates with JRF receive priority in seat allotment. The programme typically spans three to five years, with a structured coursework phase in the first year. Residential accommodation is provided to all admitted PhD scholars on campus.

Government of India reservation norms apply across all programmes: SC 15%, ST 7.5%, OBC-NC 27%, and EWS 10%. A supernumerary 5% reservation for Persons with Disabilities is provided across all categories.

UOH Placements

UOH placements are coordinated by the Centre for Career Development and Placement (CCDP), which manages industry outreach, internships, and the annual final placement drive across all schools. The School of Management Studies (SMS) and the School of Computer and Information Sciences (SCIS) consistently record the strongest corporate placement outcomes.

Technology and data analytics roles dominate placements for SCIS graduates, with machine learning, software engineering, and data science roles forming the bulk of offers. MBA placements span consulting, banking, healthcare management, and analytics verticals. UOH’s Gachibowli location within Hyderabad’s IT and pharmaceutical industry corridor drives strong recruiter participation from technology companies, pharma MNCs, and financial services firms.

PhD graduates and integrated programme students predominantly pursue higher education, postdoctoral positions, and roles in national research institutions such as CSIR, DRDO, DST, DBT, and ICMR rather than campus corporate placements. The placement statistics above reflect primarily MBA, MTech, MCA, and final-year integrated programme graduates.

UOH Rankings

UOH participates in NIRF across the Overall, University, Research Institutions, and Engineering categories. The NIRF 2025 results placed UOH firmly in the top 20 universities in India.

UOH’s 18th rank in the University category places it among India’s top-tier central universities. The separate 32nd rank in Research Institutions reflects its active interdisciplinary research output across science schools, humanities, and social sciences, driven by PhD scholars funded under UGC, DST, DBT, and SERB grants. The Engineering rank of 74 reflects the relatively recently established School of Engineering Sciences and Technology (SEST) rather than a legacy engineering tradition. UOH’s strongest sectoral positioning remains in the University and Research Institutions categories.

UOH Scholarships

UOH students are eligible for multiple scholarship streams at national and institutional levels.

UGC Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)

PhD students who qualify UGC-NET with JRF receive a monthly fellowship of INR 37,000 in the first two years and INR 42,000 from the third year onwards, funded directly by the UGC. CSIR-JRF holders pursuing science and technology PhDs receive equivalent fellowships. These cover living and research expenses for scholars in campus accommodation.

National Scholarship Portal Scholarships

SC, ST, and OBC students enrolled in UOH programmes can apply for Post-Matric Scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal (scholarships.gov.in). These scholarships cover tuition fees and include a maintenance allowance. Fresh applications open in August and September each year for the upcoming academic session.

Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme

Children of ex-servicemen and central paramilitary personnel are eligible for the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme through the Kendriya Sainik Board portal. The scheme covers tuition fees and a monthly stipend for eligible UOH students.

Merit-cum-Means Scholarships

UOH offers limited merit-cum-means scholarships from institutional funds for academically strong students from economically weaker families. Awards are based on qualifying examination performance and family income documentation, typically disbursed during the first year of enrolment.

Project Fellowships

PhD students working under externally funded research projects from DST, DBT, ICMR, or SERB receive project-specific fellowships administered by their respective school. These are separate from UGC or CSIR fellowships and are not contingent on NET qualification as a precondition.

UOH Campus and Infrastructure

The University of Hyderabad campus spans 2,300 acres in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, making it one of the largest residential university campuses in India. The campus is fully self-contained, with academic schools, hostels, a central library, markets, health care facilities, banking, and sports infrastructure all within the campus boundary.

Each school has dedicated faculty blocks and seminar halls.

Library: The Dr B R Ambedkar Central Library holds over five lakh print volumes and provides digital access to international journals through INFLIBNET consortia and institution-subscribed databases. The library operates extended hours during examination periods and supports inter-library loan requests for researchers.

Hostels: UOH is a fully residential university. All admitted students receive on-campus hostel accommodation, with separate hostels for men and women across multiple residential blocks. Each hostel has a dedicated mess and common areas. PhD scholars receive priority in single-room or twin-sharing allocations and are expected to reside on campus throughout the programme duration.

Sports and Recreation: The campus has a swimming pool, athletic track, football and cricket grounds, tennis and badminton courts, and indoor sports facilities. BHU offers the widest disciplinary range of the three, covering law, medicine, and engineering through its affiliated institutes including IIT BHU.
