GGSIPU B.Ed FAQs

Ques. What is the difference between the 2-year B.Ed Special Education and the 4-year integrated BA plus B.Ed at GGSIPU?

Ans. The 2-year B.Ed programs are for graduates who already hold a bachelor’s degree. They focus on Special Education in ASD, Hearing Impairment, or Intellectual Disability at INR 2,79,000. The 4-year integrated BA plus B.Ed is for students entering after Class 12, combining an arts degree with teacher training in a single program at INR 6,97,561. The integrated route saves one year compared to doing BA and B.Ed separately.

Ques. What teaching positions can a GGSIPU Special Education B.Ed graduate apply for?

Ans. GGSIPU Special Education B.Ed graduates can work as Special Educators in government and private schools, rehabilitation centers, and NGOs. NCTE-approved programs like GGSIPU’s qualify you for CTET (Special Education paper) and state TETs. Government positions in special education are also available through SSC and state PSC recruitment. The field is growing, with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act mandating inclusive education across schools in India.

Ques. Is a CTET or TET mandatory for teaching after completing B.Ed from GGSIPU?

Ans. Yes, for teaching in government schools at Class 6 to 8 level you must clear CTET Paper 2 or the relevant state TET. For Classes 9 and 10, requirements vary by state. Private schools increasingly prefer TET-qualified candidates. A GGSIPU B.Ed is the foundational qualification and CTET or state TET is the licensing exam that follows. Most B.Ed graduates appear for CTET within a year of completing the degree.

Ques. How does GGSIPU B.Ed compare to Delhi University and Jamia Millia Islamia B.Ed on fees?

Ans. Delhi University B.Ed fees are INR 15,868 for 2 years, and JMI charges INR 26,650, both for general B.Ed. GGSIPU’s standalone Special Education B.Ed costs INR 2,79,000. The fee is higher, but GGSIPU is the only option of the three offering NCTE-approved Special Education specializations in ASD, Hearing Impairment, and Intellectual Disability. If your goal is Special Education, GGSIPU is the best fit in Delhi. If you want a general B.Ed at minimum cost, DU is the stronger choice.

Ques. Can a GGSIPU B.Ed graduate pursue M.Ed or other postgraduate options?

Ans. Yes. A GGSIPU B.Ed qualifies you for M.Ed admission at GGSIPU, DU, and other central and state universities. M.Ed is a 2-year postgraduate program that opens doors to teacher education, research, and senior school administration. For Special Education graduates, M.Ed in Special Education or RCI-affiliated Rehabilitation Science programs is a natural next step. You can also pursue MA in Education or MBA in Education Management depending on your career direction.
