KRMU B.Sc Hons FAQs
Ques. Can I switch specialisations after joining a B.Sc (Hons.) programme at KRMU?
Ans. KRMU’s NEP 2020-aligned curriculum allows students to choose electives and minor subjects across schools, giving some flexibility in academic exposure. However, a formal change of specialisation between programmes (e.g., from Computer Science to Data Science) is governed by university regulations and seat availability. Students interested in switching should contact the Dean of the relevant school within the first semester.
Ques. Is the KREE mandatory for B.Sc Hons admission at KRMU, or can I apply on Class 12 merit alone?
Ans. KREE is not mandatory if you have a valid CUET-UG percentile, which KRMU accepts as an equivalent. Candidates without a CUET-UG score must appear for KREE. Admission is based on a composite of Class 12 marks, the KREE or CUET-UG score, and the school-level personal interview.
Ques. Which B.Sc Hons specialisations at KRMU have the best career or higher-study prospects?
Ans. Computer Science and Cyber Security graduates are well-placed for IT and information security roles. Data Science opens opportunities in analytics and AI. Forensic Science graduates can pursue M.Sc and government forensic lab careers. Allied health specialisations (Cardio Vascular Technology, Respiratory Technology, Emergency Medical Technology) are in high demand in hospitals; the 4-year programmes include a clinical internship year. Agriculture graduates can appear for ICAR JRF and IBPS AFO after completion.
Ques. What is the difference between B.Sc Chemistry and B.Sc Chemistry Research at KRMU?
Ans. B.Sc Chemistry Research at KRMU is structured under NEP 2020 with an additional emphasis on independent research projects in the final year, aligned with a research honours framework. B.Sc Chemistry follows the standard honours curriculum. The Chemistry Research variant is suited for students planning to pursue M.Sc or PhD in chemistry or related fields. Total fees for Chemistry Research are ₹3,86,000 versus ₹4,18,000 for Chemistry.
Ques. Is hostel accommodation guaranteed at KRMU for B.Sc students?
Ans. KRMU has on-campus hostel facilities for students, but availability is subject to seat capacity at time of admission. Hostel fees range from ₹1,10,000 to ₹1,92,000 per year depending on room type. Students must apply for hostel separately during the admission process and confirmation is provided based on availability.
Ques. Do the B.Sc allied health programmes (Cardio Vascular Technology, Respiratory Technology, Emergency Medical Technology) require clinical training?
Ans. Yes. The allied health B.Sc (Hons.) programmes at KRMU are 4-year courses structured as 3 years of academic study plus 1 year of clinical training at affiliated hospitals. The clinical year provides hands-on patient-care exposure in the respective specialisation and is mandatory for programme completion and degree award.
