MG University BA: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Ans. The MGU-CAP option form allows students to rank their preferred (college, specialization) combinations in order of preference. Up to 200 options may be entered in a single application. The allotment engine matches each applicant to the highest-ranked option for which their Class 12 merit qualifies them. Since merit cutoffs vary between popular and less-demanded courses, filling a larger number of options improves the probability of getting a preferred allotment. Students must submit the option form before the CAP deadline because options cannot be changed after the window closes.

Ans. The Kerala HECS provides INR 1,54,000 spread over five years to eligible Kerala-domicile students from economically weaker families. It covers undergraduate and postgraduate education. The Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships (CSSS) is a separate, centrally funded scheme providing INR 12,000 per year available to students across India who scored in the top 20 percentile in their Class 12 board exam. A student can benefit from both if they meet the criteria for each independently. The schemes are not mutually exclusive.

Ans. For most standard BA specializations, MGU-CAP does not require an entrance test. Admission is merit-based on Class 12 aggregate. However, certain professional BA programmes such as Journalism and Mass Communication at a few affiliated colleges may conduct a departmental interview or skills-based screen after the CAP allotment. If a student is allotted to such a programme, the college communicates the additional round separately. The CAP application form does not ask for test scores.

Ans. Three MGU BA specializations stand out for their distinct post-degree pathways. BA Journalism and Mass Communication has clear industry entry routes into print, digital, and broadcast media, and feeds into MA Mass Communication at universities that accept it. BA Tourism allows graduates to enter Kerala’s large hospitality and travel sector or pursue MBA in Tourism. BA Theatre Arts has a niche pathway into state cultural academies and regional film and television. General Literature streams (BA English, BA Malayalam) primarily lead into teaching, civil services preparation, and humanities PG programmes.

Ans. Missing the reporting deadline results in automatic cancellation of the allotted seat. The seat may be filled through supplementary allotment rounds if MGU conducts them, or through the college’s spot admission process after CAP rounds close. There is no mechanism to reinstate a lapsed allotment once the deadline passes. Students who miss reporting must restart the process in the next academic year. It is therefore important to remit fees and report within the specified window even if the allotted course is not the first preference.
